A Canyon County teen accused of murdering his father pleads not guilty. 14-year-old Zachary Neagle's attorney entered his plea this morning at the Canyon County Courthouse.
"Your honor Mr. Neagle would enter a plea of not guilty and set the matter for trial", says Peterson.
Before Friday morning's arraignment protestors rallied in his support.
"We are out here because we are concerned about zachary and his plight we don't believe that a child should be put into an adult system", says Kelly Christensen.
Prosecutors say Neagle shot and killed his father, Jason, who was asleep on a couch in their Caldwell home in May. Following the murder, one investigator said in a recorded testimony that a family member told him Zachary had been abused by his father.
"There's certainly information that if this case here goes to trial we definitely have a solid explanation for what they say he did", says Charles Crafts.
A trial date is expected to be set at a hearing next month.
