Dad charged with murder in infant daughter's beating 22 years later (Murfreesboro, Tennessee)

Not real clear here, but it looks like Dad got out of prison for abusing his daughter, only to father another child with another woman and ABUSE THAT CHILD TOO.

Why was ANTHONY SHANNON LANE allowed around any kids again? Especially given the fact of how severely the daughter was abused (bedridden with multiple health problems including severe neurological issues for 22 years.)

Father charged with daughter's murder 22 years after beating, autopsy show

8:17 p.m. CDT July 8, 2014

MURFREESBORO — A man serving a 25-year sentence for child abuse was charged with first-degree murder after an autopsy revealed the beating he gave his infant daughter led to her death last year, according to a media release.

Anthony Shannon Lane, 41, was convicted of aggravated child abuse in 1992 for attacking and critically injuring his daughter, Amanda Michelle Lane-Woodall, when she was 5 weeks old, according to the release. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and upon his release was charged and convicted of aggravated child abuse of a second child, her half-brother Ryan Lane.

Anthony Shannon Lane, who is serving a 25-year sentence for the second conviction at Hardeman County Correctional Facility, was charged Monday with first-degree murder for Lane-Woodall's death last year, according to the report. An autopsy performed by the state medical examiner's office showed her manner of death was homicide, caused by complications of blunt-force head injury.

Lane-Woodall's case was originally investigated in 1991 by Sheriff's Office Detectives Chuck Thomas and J.D. Driver, resulting in the conviction of Lane and Lane-Woodall's biological mother, Stephanie Pinson, according to the release. Pinson was convicted for accessory after the fact of child abuse. She was sentenced to two years in jail.

Cold Case Detective Sgt. Dan Goodwin and Detective Steve Kohler questioned a number of doctors and other witnesses before presenting the most recent charges against Anthony Shannon Lane to the district attorney's office, according to the release.

Rutherford County foster parent Nancy Woodall-Holmes of La Vergne began caring for Amanda when she was three months old, according to the release.

"She could only do less than a newborn baby," said Nancy Woodall-Holmes said in the release. "She couldn't suck or swallow. She was blind and non-verbal, fed through a tube in the stomach."

Lane-Woodall required daily injections for diabetes, and she also had cerebral palsy, according to the report. She was confined to the same bed for 22 years.

The woman was reunited with her half brother, who was also adopted, during therapy, according to the release, though they were never able to have a conversation.

"She and Ryan had their wheelchairs next to each other, and their hands touched," said Nancy Woodall-Holmes in the release. "It was like they made a connection with each other."

Nancy Woodall-Holmes said in the release that she hopes this case motivates longer sentences for child abusers so they do not have the chance to commit the same crimes again.

Anthony Lane is being held in Rutherford County Adult Detention Center while awaiting a court hearing July 18, according to the release.

Sickening enabler excuses "alleged" killer dad, not one word of sympathy for murdered grandson; how did dad get custody? (South Bend, Indiana)

People like Enabler Granny make me sick. She must have known that her son, sicko daddy TERRY STURGIS, was brutally beating his kids for hours at a time. After all, she lived with them! But all she does is lie about it.

And how did this piece of sh** for a father get custody???? Who gave it to him? I, for one, would like to know why the mom "isn't around." Important to know when this murder is described as one of South Bend's most brutal ever.

Get this. Even though she insists that Daddy isn't a "monster," she goes ahead and blames his diabetes and kidney problems for his possible criminality anyway. Disgusting.

WSBT EXCLUSIVE: South Bend grandmother says 'son isn't a monster' after grandson's beating death
By Clifton French
10:58 p.m. EST, November 6, 2011

SOUTH BEND—
The grandmother of 10-year-old Tramelle Sturgis is speaking with WSBT in an exclusive interview, shedding some light on a tragedy that claimed her grandson's life on Friday.

Dellia Castile lives at a home in the 1100 block of West Washington Street, and on Friday that is where her own son, 35-year-old Terry Sturgis, allegedly beat the young boy to death using both a club and his fists, restraining him with duct tape as the blows were delivered.

Dellia Castile defends her son.

Three days after Tramelle was killed and Terry was arrested for his murder, Dellia has returned to her home.

"My son by no means is a monster,” Dellia said. “I don't care what the media says. My son is not a monster. They don't know my son, I know my son. He's not a monster."

Dellia was at home when her grandson was killed. It was early Friday morning when she says she woke up to screaming.

"I was woken out of my sleep hearing my son screaming his child's name,” Dellia said. “By me not being able to get around that well, I had my granddaughter, who sleeps in the same room with me, go downstairs to tell me what was going on.”

She says she heard her son yell to her that Tramelle wasn't breathing. Dellia then called 911.

When first responders and police arrived, everyone in the house was taken in for questioning by police. It was there where Dellia says she learned her grandson had died and it was also the last time she saw her son.

"I went in that room, I sat next to my son and he told me 'Mommy I don't know what happened,’" Dellia said, "He told those (detectives) he remembered whooping him."

But Dellia says, after that, Terry told her he blacked out. According to court documents, Terry Sturgis beat Tramelle and Tramelle's 14-year-old brother for hours using his fists, a club and even restraining them with duct tape. The documents also describe scars and bruises that would have happened before Friday.

But Dellia says she had never seen her son hurt his children in the past.

"I've never seen anything like this from my son, ever." Dellia said, "I don't know what happened, what went wrong, I just don't know."

Terry was living in the home on West Washington Street with his mother and five children. According to Dellia, he has always been a good father. He has taken care of all of his kids, even though their mother hasn't been around.

"My son is a good son," Dellia said, "My son has never had issues with the law, he's a very good father good son, brother, uncle. He just tried to be the rock for our family."

Dellia says Terry had been going to National College, working toward a degree in pharmacy. Just this summer he had made the honor roll.

But Terry has had some major health issues.

Dellia says he's on dialysis, is in need of a kidney transplant and has been on numerous prescribed medications. Many of those medications come with warnings of side effects including hallucinations, depression and confusion.

Dellia believes those medications could have led to what happened on Friday.

"I do think all of these prescriptions that he's taking played a role in it," she said, "He's under so much strain trying to raise five children on his own, dealing with dialysis, being in desperate need of a kidney."

Dellia says one of the children had been in trouble at school and Terry had threatened to "whoop" him, but she didn't say if that triggered what happened on Friday.

Sturgis' 14-year-old son was also injured in the beating. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. He and the three other children have been taken into foster care, according to Dellia.

Custodial dad kept daughter as "Cinderella-slave" for 11 years (London, England, United Kingdom)

UNNAMED DAD is on trial for the "horrific abuse" of his daughter over 11 years. It's easy to get lost as you read all the details of said abuse (torture) below. And what get's lost is that this father appears to have been CUSTODIAL, as there are brief references to shipping her back to her mother, a new wife, and five marriages in all. There is a very short mention of Daddy leaving his old family behind and "bringing" this girl with him, apparently when he moved away from his former family, so he could "care for her." Very odd.

Basically this article is an object lesson in how to write a mother out of the story. Was this girl just a sack of potatoes to be toted around as Daddy wished? Did her mother object? Was she threatened? (Wouldn't surprise me at all, if only half of what is said about this guy is true.) Just how did Daddy get custody anyway? Were the courts involved? Why isn't that clarified? From articles like this, you would never know that real human mothers are required to give birth to real human children, and that daddies don't just magically have custody. Behind every custodial father is a back story--in a way that just doesn't apply to mothers. Mothers are mothers on account of biology and the act of giving birth. Fathers are sometimes custodial because a mother died or became seriously incapacitated. But more often than not, there is an act of coercion somewhere in the past that just gets erased from the record--especially when the father's abuse and violence goes public.

Father 'kept his daughter as Cinderella-slave during eleven years of horrific abuse'
By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 3:27 PM on 8th February 2011

He 'submerged her in bath until she almost drowned'
'Wrapped her in masking tape in a zipped-up hold all and threatened to post her back to her mother'
'Shut her in bedroom for summer holidays'
'Yanked clumps of her hair pulled out and was spat at'

No respite: the father cannot be identified to protect his alleged victim

A 'father from hell' treated his daughter like a Cinderella-slave for 11 years as he subjected her to a catalogue of horrific abuse, a court has heard.

The cruelty meted out to the girl included pulling out her hair, telling her he wished she was dead and almost drowning her in a bath.

A jury was also told that the man wrapped the victim in masking tape and put her in a holdall, saying she would be posted back to her mother.

She was also allegedly kept in her bedroom for the entire summer holidays by her father, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

She is also said to have been forced to do all the household chores, before being manhandled around the house to do them again because she had not met his impossibly high standards.
Prosecutors said that the father 'treated his own daughter with an extraordinary cruelty'.

'He treated her like a modern-day Cinderella - Cinders with no Prince Charming or a happy ending or her,' Sean Brunton told Exeter Crown Court.

'She became the household slave, the butt of his frustration, the family whipping boy - or girl.' He said abuse went on 'each day without respite'.

'We say he was really for his daughter, the father from hell.'

The man is also accused of giving his daughter a lemon and a squeezer for Christmas, forcing her to write notes of apology which he read out loud as he scorned her even more and calling another of his daughters 'Fave' because she was his favourite.

Mr Brunton said this was not 'heavy handed discipline once or twice or a severe punishment inflicted and regretted immediately' afterwards but that the victim was singled out from siblings.

The defendant is a five times married man who has produced nine children from his different wives.

He left one family in London and brought the victim, aged just four, with him because she suffers diabetes and he would care for her.

He set up home in Newton Abbot, Devon, with his new wife and they had three daughters.

Mr Brunton said: 'From that very early age she knew that he despised her, and that was not just childhood paranoia. If she tried to sit near him he would push her away saying 'you disgust me I wish you were dead'.'

The defendant would say 'you make me sick' just looking at her and spat in her face. But there was much worse than that.

The Crown alleged that daily he insulted and assaulted her shoving across the room, smack her, banged her head against a wall as he went into a rage over the slightest thing.

Jurors heard he said the victim was 'too ugly to be a child of mine' and stood on her fingers if she sat on the floor and twisted his foot to hurt her fingers even more.

He pulled out clumps of her hair, gave her Chinese burns and singled her out from his other daughters, said Mr Brunton.

The jury heard from the age of eight she had to do the household chores of cleaning the bathroom and toilet, vacuum cleaning and dusting, washing and dry and putting away the dishes.
But her father would leave traps to make sure she had done it properly and would be punished if she did not reach his 'impossibly high standards'.

Mr Brunton said he would drag her from her bed while she slept to make her do the dishes again if it was not good enough.

He rubbed the waste from the sink and rubbed it into her face, the jury was told.

Mr Brunton said her dad was fed up with her when just five years old and was sending her back to London and wrapped her in masking tape around her legs, body and head and mouth so she could not call out before forcing her into a black holdall bag and zipping it up.

He added that the father forced her to spend the entire summer holidays in her bedroom, only allowed to leave to use the toilet, as a punishment.

When she was around seven or eight she did not eat all her cereal and in a rage her father picked her up and dragged her to the bathroom and forced her under the water

When she was 16 she was thrown out of the house, the jury heard, without even her insulin and she went to stay with a family friend.

The father, who is now 73, denies thirteen charges of cruelty and ill treatment which date back to the 1980s and 90s.

He cannot be named because it would identify his daughter who is due to give evidence in person today.

The victim is now aged 27 and is a mother of two.

The trial continues.

Dad blames his child porn collection on diabetes (Hartlepool, England, United Kingdom)

Today's winner for incredibly dumb lame @$$ excuse: GARY MASON, a father of two, had 1,800 child porn images on his computer (including babies)--because he had diabetes????

Ex-fire officer had pictures of child abuse
10:03am Saturday 5th February 2011

By Neil Hunter »

THE career of a senior fire officer and school governor is in tatters after he was unmasked as a pervert with a “disturbing” interest in child pornography.

Gary Mason’s collection of sick pictures was unearthed when police searched his home in Hartlepool during an unconnected investigation.

Officers found a total of 1,861 images on his computers, and he was suspended from his roles at a secondary school and Cleveland Fire Brigade.

Yesterday, officials at High Tunstall College of Science, in Hartlepool, and the fire authority said the 49-year-old has since been dismissed.

At an earlier Teesside Crown Court hearing, Mason blamed his diabetes and an imbalance in his blood-sugar levels for his warped behaviour.

His barrister, Robin Denny, said neither the disgraced former soldier nor a psychiatrist who examined him were able to explain what he did.

Judge George Moorhouse said Mason’s actions – as well as an aggressive change in his personality – may have been linked to his time in Iraq.

The court heard that the father-of-two spent five years downloading indecent images from the internet, and one of the pictures showed a baby.

Mr Denny said: “There must have been something very disturbing which suddenly changed this man from a very respectable school governor.

“It seems to have been some sort of compulsion.”

Mason, of Sandbanks Drive, Hartlepool, admitted 17 charges of making indecent photographs of children between April 2005 and last April.

He was given an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, with supervision, and an order to attend a sex offenders’ treatment programme.

Judge Moorhouse also ordered Mason to sign on the sex offenders’ register for the next ten years and banned him for life from working with children.

The court heard Mason was an arson awareness co-ordinator and visited schools and colleges to give advice to youngsters about fire dangers.

Last night, High Tunstall headteacher Mark Tilling said: “The offences do not relate in any way to his activities as a former governor at High Tunstall.”

He said Mason was suspended as a governor as soon as the allegations came to light, and was dismissed five months later, in October.

A fire brigade spokesman said officials had co-operated with the police during the investigation and Mason was no longer employed by them.

Detective Inspector Mike Cane, from Cleveland Police’s vulnerability unit, said: “These were sickening images of children being sexually abused.”
