Dad who beat mom, tried to kick down her door says he just wanted to "keep in contact with her for the sake of their child" (Kent, England)
This is bullsh** that battered mums have to deal with. Dad RICKY CAREY beat the mother of their child last year. Then, a few months later, he tries to kick down her front door while shouting to be let in.
So what does this moron claim in court? He just wanted to "keep in contact with her for the sake of their child." Oh SUPER. That's the way to be a positive father role model? Screaming and carrying on like a freaking idiot? Traumatizing your child?
In reality, he's just using their kid as an excuse to continue badgering and terrorizing the mother. This type never gives a crap about the kids. It's always about Daddy, Daddy Drama, and What Daddy Wants. Period.
And good luck with that restraining order, Mum.

Restraining order for violent ex-partner
Friday, May 04, 2012 Canterbury Times
A FATHER-OF-ONE who beat his former partner and tried to kick down her front door has been given a restraining order.
Ricky Carey, 26, of Watercress Lane in Wingham Well near Canterbury, beat Maria Henson – the mother of his child – on July 24 last year, causing bruising to her cheek.
Then at 1am on December 18, he went to her home in Canterbury, where he caused damage to her front door while shouting to be let inside.
He appeared at Canterbury Magistrates' Court on Thursday, where he admitted charges of assault and criminal damage.
Prosecuting, Julie Farbrace told the court Carey had pulled the handle off in his attempts to force the door open, and caused several dents by kicking and banging on it with force.
He was arrested for criminal damage and breaching bail conditions th banned him from contacting Miss Henson.
Defending, Donald Worsely said the incident happened after Carey's ex-partner claimed she was pregnant with his second child – but wanted nothing to do with him.
Mr Worsely said his client acknowledged he had pushed Miss Henson twice, but was keen to keep in contact with her for the sake of their child.
After half an hour of deliberation, magistrates imposed a two-year restraining order banning Carey from going within 10 metres of his victim.
He was also handed a two-year community order, with 150 hours of unpaid work and compensation, fines and court costs totalling £450.
Chairman of the bench, Sarah Poole, told him: "It is particularly distressing to hear that these offences were committed at a place where your young child was living. It simply cannot happen again."

Dad chokes, sexually abuses 4-year-old daughter during supervised visitation; idiotic caseworker was "reaching over to answer phone" and missed it (Miami, Florida)
This is why I lose patience with the social workers and the whole supervised visitation/child protection industry. It's all bullsh**.
You know, I could play major league baseball too. I could stand out in the outfield during all those games. Just don't count on me to catch the fly ball when it comes my way.
Same with these people. The proof of your competence is that you are paying attention and react accordingly when the proverbial ball is flying your way. This freaking idiotic caseworker was "reaching for the phone" when the father "allegedly" started choking his daughter, the one he is accused of molesting before. The daughter also said that he sexually abused her. But the caseworker missed the whole thing.
Once again, we have a daddy, in this case RAFAEL LEAO, that's been utterly coddled by the authorities at every step of the way. I suspect that he formerly had sole custody, since there is ZERO mention of a mother in this story. And I can't believe we're using "bipolar disorder" as an excuse for attempted murder, assault, or sexual abuse. More crap.
It is utterly disgusting that this poor child has had to be exposed to all this trauma, just so this molester daddy could have his "father's rights." And what happened to this child's mother???

Girl said dad choked her during supervised visit
By Carol Marbin Miller The Miami Herald
During a visit supervised by a social worker, a Miami-Dade man was accused of choking his 4-year-old daughter. He already had lost custody of the girl amid molestation allegations.
A social worker for a North Miami-Dade foster-care group was overseeing a visit between a 4-year-old girl and her father, who had been stripped of custody following molestation allegations, when she heard a startling cry: “He’s choking me!”
The incident, which occurred on Feb. 15, was the second time 30-year-old Rafael Leao had been alleged to have touched his daughter in an “inappropriate” way, according to testimony.Still, a Miami judge ordered that Leao be granted more visits — though under “therapeutic” conditions — when foster care administrators did not object.
The Department of Children & Families’ regional administrator, Esther Jacobo, said the agency has asked Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Maria Sampedro-Iglesia to reconsider her decision to allow continued visits. Sampedro-Iglesia will hold a hearing on that request Tuesday.
In meantime, Jacobo said, Leao has had no contact with his daughter since the Feb. 15 incident.
Citing judicial ethics, Sampedro-Iglesia declined to discuss the case with a reporter. However, a spokeswoman for the judicial circuit, Eunice Sigler, said therapeutic visits are overseen by professionals with at least a master’s degree, who have authority to intervene when parents mistreat their children. Witnesses at supervised visits do not have that power.
Leao’s daughter was removed from his custody following serious sexual abuse allegations. But child welfare administrators, and the judge, allowed him to visit with the girl under the supervision of a caseworker from the Center for Family and Child Enrichment, or CFCE, while Leao completed a series of tasks designed to improve his parenting skills, such as counseling, medication management and parenting classes.
At a hearing before Sampedro-Iglesia on Feb. 16, a DCF attorney, Barbara Galvez, said the agency’s abuse hotline received a report the day before that Leao had choked and touched his daughter in an improper manner at the CFCE office building during a visit. Galvez said the agency also is concerned that he has stopped taking his psychiatric medications, even though the judge had ordered that he comply with the directions of his psychiatrist and other mental health workers.
At the hearing, CFCE case manager Kenya Tookes testified that she was overseeing the visitation at her office cubicle when she reached over to answer a phone. “I reached over for my phone when [the girl] began to say ‘My father is choking me!’” Tookes testified.
“The child was rubbing her neck, and it was red,” Tookes added.
And there were others in the room: A colleague of Tookes’ testified by telephone that she also heard the little girl scream. “I heard the child screaming ‘He’s choking me,’” said the colleague, Norma Babani “I looked right away, and at that point he grabbed her from the seat and was kind of hugging her and giving her kisses.”
“When I saw the child, her neck was red,” she added.
After police were called, the little girl said that her father also had touched her in the area of her genitals, over her pants.
“I don’t understand how you could be supervising the visit, and you didn’t see the incident happen,” Sampedro-Iglesia said to Tookes.
“I really don’t know that the incident really happened,” the caseworker replied, who said she did not witness the alleged choking.
Under cross examination by Leao’s attorney, Kassandra Murphy, Babani, the colleague who testified by phone, acknowledged she did not witness Leao choking the girl. Murphy suggested it would be unfair to strip Leao of contact with his daughter when there was no proof he mistreated her.
“I think the red marks are undisputed,” Sampedro-Iglesia replied.
But Tookes then presented an alternate explanation: The youngster, she said, “has eczema, and tends to scratch and gets very red.”
Under questioning by the judge, Tookes acknowledged the father had behaved improperly during a previous supervised visitation in December. During the visit, “the father sat in a chair with his legs open, and I observed the child put her hands in her pants,” Tookes said.
Tookes has since been fired from CFCE, Jacobo said.
DCF administrators had other concerns, as well. Under questioning, Leao acknowledged he is being treated for bipolar disorder, but insisted he no longer needs to take medication for the ailment. “I don’t take psychiatric medication,” Leao said. “I’m no longer taking bipolar medication. There’s no need for that.”
When asked if it was his doctor’s decision to discontinue the mental health drugs, Leao replied: “The idea was mine.”
The case, which will be back before the judge again Tuesday, raises troubling questions in the wake of a similar dispute that ended tragically last month.
On Feb. 9, William DeJesus savagely stabbed his entire family and fatally shot a Canadian part-time resident, a year after DCF administrators reunited him with his two small sons. The agency had verified allegations that DeJesus and his wife had repeatedly molested the two boys, and that DeJesus had been violent toward his wife for years. One of the reports stated that DeJesus had grabbed both his sons’ crotches during a supervised visit. Though both a therapist and a court-appointed guardian observed the visit, their concerns were deemed unfounded.
Nine-year-old Jeshiah DeJesus perished in the attack; his 7-year-old brother was hospitalized with a knife blade impaled in his head before surgeons could remove it, and the boy is recovering in foster care. DeJesus’ wife, Deanna Beauchamp, was charged late last week with aggravated manslaughter and child neglect in connection with the blood bath.
DeJesus stabbed himself to death after the attack.

Dad charged with aggravated battery against 3-month-old son DEMANDING his child visitation rights (Batavia, Illinois)
Freaking unbelievable. This is the direct result of 20 to 30 years of fathers rights propaganda. That even a dad like NICHOLAS GLUCKMANN, who is charged with aggravated battery against his 3-month-old son, is demanding his child visitation rights. And he wants them NOW! This is the level of daddy entitlement these guys are feeling these days. And it ain't pretty.
And of course, daddies are so coddled by the system these days that Dad even gets a PUBLIC DEFENDER to help him get his "rights." And he wants the judge to reduce his bond. Of course.
Never mind that the baby has serious brain injuries. Who cares about the stinkin' baby? Daddy must have his! Don't we all know by now that the world is supposed to revolve around whatever Daddy Drama is on stage that day?
It's apparently not clear whether visitation is with the baby or some other child. But either way, this is insane. Why is the safety of any child being compromised in this way?
If I were the mom, I'd certainly want to stop this. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do. If you object, you're an "alienator" and vulnerable to a custody switch. And if you don't object, you're guilty of "failure to protect." And you will be blamed if you "went along" with the visitation scheme and a child gets injured or re-injured while under Daddy's "care." By both the public at large and the legal system.
So you can't win. And notice that the Mom's perspective on this is not mentioned at all. Typical.

UPDATE: Child Abuse Suspect Gets Public Defender, Wants Visit With Son
This 48-year-old man is charged with a Class X felony in connection to an April incident in Batavia.
By Dan Campana
October 12, 2011
A 48-year-old man who once lived in Batavia went before a judge Wednesday morning to ask for a lawyer and a bond reduction, all in the hopes of being freed in time for a scheduled visit with his son.
Nicholas Glucksmann surrendered to police last week on charges he severely injured a child, identified in court documents as his then three-month-old son, during an April incident in Batavia. It was not immediately clear whether the visitations are with the same boy.
Prosecutors are currently unaware if Glucksmann has any visitation arrangements relating to the boy or whether he has any other children.
Glucksmann, who is listed with a Batavia address in court records, remains in Kane County Jail on $150,000 bail charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a child—one count is a Class X felony—and a single count of aggravated domestic battery.
When Glucksmann surrendered to authorities on Oct. 4, he was listed as having a Wheaton address, according to a police report.
During a brief hearing, Glucksmann told Judge Marmarie Kostelny he was a contractor who couldn’t afford to hire a lawyer, and that he wanted to have his bond reduced so he could make the upcoming visitation as he tries to “get his son back,” he said.
Kostelny appointed a public defender to represent Glucksmann and set an Oct. 28 hearing, although he could return to court sooner if his lawyer files for a bond reduction.
Allegations Against Glucksmann, Injury Details
Prosecutors allege Glucksmann caused “trauma” to the young boy’s head that was severe enough to require he be airlifted from an Aurora hospital to Lutheran General Hospital, court records show.
Glucksmann and the boy’s mother—who is not named in records—first took the boy to Provena Mercy Medical Center’s emergency room on April 16, where they told a doctor he had fallen off a bed when Glucksmann tripped and pushed the boy, according to a search warrant affidavit.
The doctor called police about a “possible child abuse” case after determining the boy’s injuries were not consistent with a fall, but more so with Shaken Baby Syndrome, records show. The boy had bruising on his face and bleeding on his brain, which prompted doctors to send him to Lutheran General in Park Ridge.
The doctor “observed the parents arguing with each other as to either go straight to Lutheran General Hospital or to their residence,” states the affidavit seeking permission to search Glucksmann’s Batavia apartment.
Police reported finding an infant shirt and bassinet cover with “apparent” blood drops, as well as an adult’s shirt with “numerous blood droplets,” documents show.
Court records show owners of an apartment on Batavia Avenue named Glucksmann and a woman in an eviction case from earlier this year. A judge in September ordered Glucksmann to pay the landlord nearly $6,500 for back rent, damage and other fees.
And of course, daddies are so coddled by the system these days that Dad even gets a PUBLIC DEFENDER to help him get his "rights." And he wants the judge to reduce his bond. Of course.

Boy dies of deliberate dehydration during summer visitation with dad (Dallas, Texas)
More than once, I have noticed that the UK press covers US child abuse cases better than the US press does--especially of those crimes committed by fathers. The US media likes to obsess about pretty little white girls killed by pretty white moms (a la Casey Anthony). Anybody unfortunate enough to be a little boy, non-white, or killed by a father is kind of uninteresting to them, so those stories seldom break out of the local media market.
Still, we have things that are unexplored here.
What judge gave dad MICHAEL RAY JAMES summer visitation in this story? And just why were these children "reluctant" to go to Daddy's? VERY PROBABLY, we have a past history of abuse here that was covered up and/or ignored by the powers-that-be. The powers that exalt fathers rights over the safety of children, especially--but not exclusively--in the state of Texas. Because make no mistake: the fathers rights movement is very powerful in Texas, and has been for decades now. This boy's death is one of their "victories." So take a lap, boys. This is your doing.

Boy, 10, died after parents 'refused to let him drink water for five days as punishment'

A 10-year-old boy collapsed and died in front of his twin brother after his parents refused to let him drink water for five day, it is claimed.
Jonathan James died from dehydration in Dallas after his father and step mother allegedly denied him water as punishment after he took some guitar strings from one of his siblings.
Michael Ray James and Tina Maria Alberson have been arrested and charged with injury to a child.
The boy's grandmother said that his twin brother had wanted to help, but was afraid he would be punished too.
'I did tell him, “I don't want you to feel guilty because there's nothing you could do.” And he says, “I wish I had snuck him some water”,' Sue Shotwell told Fox Dallas-Fort Worth.
She said she is now concerned for the twin, who is called Joseph, because he watched his brother collapse and has been having nightmares reliving the moment he died.
The boys had been spending the summer with their biological father because of a custody arrangement.
Mrs Shotwell said they had been reluctant to go.
Arrested: The boy's father and step-mother Michael Ray James and Tina Maria Alberson have been charged with injury to a child
Jonathan James died on July 25 and was found by paramedics in a bath tub.
Family members told police that he had been trying to cool him off and that he had been feeling sick for a number of days.
But a medical examiner found that he had died from dehydration.
If convicted, James and Alberson could face up to 99 years in prison.

Dad threatens "beatdown" on mom during supervised visitation session (Haverhill, Massachusetts)
Your tax dollars at work, folks. Notice that Mom lost custody to CPS because of dad JOSHUA WEST and his "violent behavior"--not because of anything the mom apparently did. And yet BOTH PARENTS are on supervised visitation! Despite the fact that Daddy was on probation for assault and battery against the mother!
So let me get this straight:
We coddle Daddy by putting him on probation for a violent crime against the mother, and thereby put the mother at additional risk.
We then punish Mom by taking her kids away from her.
We then reward Daddy by granting him supervised visitation despite his criminal record.
We then punish Mom some more by giving her supervised visitation as if she were a criminal just like the father, and not the victim of a violent crime.
We then subject Mom to additional trauma and humiliation by requiring her to endure supervised visitation with the man who assaulted her, who (naturally) uses the occasion to threaten her with additional violence.
Is the father-friendly, abuser-friendly agenda clear yet? Shame on the Haverhill justice system. And shame on the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.
Next time you hear the fathers rights groups in Massachusetts moan and groan about how oppressed they are, remember this case and what REALLY goes down in the Commonwealth.

Dad who allegedly threatened mom with 'beatdown' is held By Paul Tennant
The Eagle Tribune Fri Aug 26, 2011, 12:11 AM EDT
HAVERHILL — A man who allegedly threatened to give the mother of his two children a "beatdown" if she had anything to do with other men is being held pending a probation hearing Sept. 21.
Joshua West, 20, of 25 Bateman St., pleaded not guilty to a charge of threatening to commit a crime, assault and battery, in Haverhill District Court on Monday. Patrolman Bradley Andrews arrested West after he made the threat to the woman during a July 24 supervised meeting with their 1-year-old child at the state Department of Children and Families, according to a police report.
The child is in DCF custody because of West's violent behavior, according to Andrews' report. The woman is pregnant with another child and West is the father, police said.
West is already on probation after being convicted of assault and battery on the mother of his children. He struck the woman in the face three times last year, according to a police report.
Judge Patricia Dowling imposed $500 cash bail on West on his latest charge, but determined there was probable cause that he had violated his probation on the 2010 offense and ordered him held until Sept. 21.
At that time, West will face a final hearing on whether he violated his probation on the assault and battery conviction, as well as a pretrial conference on the alleged threat he made to the mother of his children.

Dad charged with abusing 13-year-old daughter (Gainsville, Florida)
Yet another violent UNNAMED DAD--who was actually blocked from seeing his kids for once. In fact, he had a previous injunction involving domestic violence. We're just lucky Daddy didn't manage to strangle this girl to death during his little temper tantrum....

A 32-year-old man under a court order to stay away from his 13-year-old daughter was arrested Tuesday on a charge of aggravated child abuse against the girl.
The girl and her 7-year-old brother said they fought with the 5-foot-7-inch, 180-pound man until he left their home.
The girl told investigators from the Gainesville Police Department her father had a pizza to share when he arrived at the home where she lives with her mother and two younger half brothers. The children’s mother was asleep in another room when the father arrived.
The girl said her father wanted to go see the mother and that when the girl told him not to disturb her, the man got physical.
The children said he told the younger brother to leave the room because things were going to get “aggressive,” according to a report by Officer Lorraine Fair.
The girl said she told her brothers to stay with her and then told her father she would respect him. The children said the man responded by throwing the girl on the couch and choking her so she could not breath or talk. The girl’s 7-year-old brother tried to intervene and was shoved into a table, but was able to run to his mother’s room.
The girl said her father punched her and then ran from the home.
The father was charged with aggravated child abuse, child abuse, and violating an injunction involving domestic violence. Court records show he also is facing a drug charge in another case.
He is not being named to avoid identifying the abuse victim.

Dad who murdered 4-year-old daughter by throwing her off bridge denied appeal (Melbourne, Australia)
We have posted on ARTHUR FREEMAN many times--the daddy who got unsupervised visitation despite erratic behavior and past threats. The mother had a terrible time with getting Australia's father-friendly family courts to take her concerns seriously--until it was too late. This murder was a direct result of Australia's near mandatory joint custody policies--any father, no matter how violent or crazy, was nearly guaranteed access. As a result, child homicides have excalated.

Arthur Freeman, who threw his four-year-old daughter to her death off Melbourne's West Gate Bridge, has been denied the right to appeal his 32-year sentence for the horror murder.
Freeman in April was jailed for life with a non-parole period of 32 years after a jury convicted him of murdering his daughter Darcey.
He argued for the right to appeal his sentence on the basis that 32 years was manifestly excessive.
But the Victorian Court of Appeal today ruled that the sentence was not manifestly excessive and refused Freeman's application to appeal.
"In the present case, I do not regard it as reasonably arguable that the non-parole period of 32 years was outside the sentencing range open to the sentencing judge in the circumstances of this case," Justice Chris Maxwell said in his written decision.
"The judge's findings about the seriousness of this offence were very clear."
Justice Maxwell said sentencing judge Justice Paul Coghlan highlighted several aggravating features of the crime, including the fact that an innocent child was killed by being thrown from a bridge more than 50 metres above the ground.
Justice Coghlan had also said the murder was witnessed by Darcey's two other children, was a fundamental breach of trust, and was motivated by Freeman's desire to hurt his former wife, Justice Maxwell said in his ruling.
Freeman, 37, will be eligible for parole in 2041 - when he will be 67 years old.
Darcey was thrown from the West Gate on what was to be her first day of school - January 29, 2009.
Freeman's barrister, David Brustman, SC, argued during the trial that his client was mentally impaired, "mad not bad", when he killed Darcey.
The jury rejected the defence, after five days of deliberation.

Mom calls police about her concerns about ex, daughter; police tell her girl "not in danger," half an hour later, dad shoots her to death (Durham, North Carolina)
Once again, we see that a lot of these daddy killings do not come "out of the blue," but are the result of systematic failures on the part of the criminal justice system. Notice that this frantic mom called the police asking them to check on her 22-month-old daughter, who was then visiting her father, TYRONE HESTER. The police concluded that that the little girl "was not in danger." Yet we know from out posting earlier today that Daddy had a history of assault and domestic violence. Why would they conclude she wasn't in danger? Less than half an hour after the police left, Daddy shot the girl to death. We posted on this case earlier today.

DURHAM, N.C. A Durham woman whose ex-boyfriend shot and killed himself and their 22-month-old daughter called police asking for help less than an hour before the shooting.
A 911 tape released Tuesday indicates Latoya Smith called and begged Durham police to check on her daughter, who was spending time with her father, Tyrone Xavier Hester, on Saturday, the day they both died.
Police say they responded to Smith's call about 12:30 p.m. Saturday and concluded that Aaishia was not in danger.
Less than a half-hour later, Tyrone Xavier Hester and 22-month-old Aaishia were found shot outside a Durham apartment complex where some of Hester's relatives lived.
Hester died at the scene. Aaishia was taken to Duke University Hospital where she later died.

Dad charged in death of 9-month-old son's death; baby died during dad's holiday visitation (Oakland, Tennessee)
Notice that once again, we have a case of a baby that was clearly killed during child visitation--this time during Daddy's Christmas visitation last year. Dad SEAN LEIFER has now been charged in the murder of his 9-month-old son. I wonder if he had a history of violence or child abuse--and managed to get child visitation with an infant and two other kids anyway.
