Dad pleads guilty to aggravated abuse of infant; little boy, now 4, left blind (Memphis, Tennessee)

How did dad managed to shake this baby "nearly every day" without detection? Appears that either dad was either a deadbeat "caretaker" while mom worked, or this was a custody/visitation situation.

At any rate, once again we have a "frustrated" dad with no nurturing abilities who couldn't cope with normal infantile crying. Not just once (the "snap" scenario), but multiple times.

Dad is identified as STEVEN GRAYSON.

Father pleads guilty to aggravated child abuse

The father of a four-year-old boy who is blind was sentenced to 13.5 years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated child abuse.

41-year-old Steven Grayson entered the guilty plea after testifying that he routinely shook the boy as an infant in an effort to stop him from crying.

The child was taken to the hospital in December of 2010 with “shaken baby syndrome.”

He is now blind as a result of suffering bilateral retinal hemorrhages and bilateral subdural hemorrhages to the brain, according to testimony from Le Bonheur pediatrician Dr. Karen Lakin.

Sgt. Jim Byars with the Memphis Police Department testified that Grayson admitted shaking the baby nearly every day for several weeks in late 2010.

Grayson's sentence will be served without the possibility for parole.
