Dad gets prison time for killing 4-month-old daughter (York County, Nebraska)

Notice that dad RYAN KOZISEK wasn't actually convicted of murder, though. Killer dads seldom are, even when they blatantly lie about how the victim was killed (the dog did it, the two-year old, ad nauseum).

Previous accounts of this crime have clarified that this was a case of a mom who had to work while dad did "caretaking."

York father sent to prison in baby's death

A York County judge has sentenced a man to prison for 35 to 50 years for child abuse resulting in the death of his infant daughter.

Ryan Kozisek, 32, of Gresham was convicted by a York County jury in January in the death of his 4-month-old daughter, Kayley Kozisek. She died at an Omaha hospital Jan. 25, 2011, a day after Kozisek called 911 and said she wasn't breathing.

He told emergency crews his 2-year-old daughter accidentally fell off a stepping stool and onto the baby. A doctor told investigators the baby's multiple injuries -- including severe hemorrhaging and brain trauma -- could not have been caused by a toddler.

"Kayley Kozisek's life was cut tragically short by her abusive father," Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning said in a news release Monday. "Today's sentence is the appropriate penalty for this heartbreaking crime."

District Judge J.P. Mullen sentenced Kozisek on Monday.
