Dad convicted of murdering 34-day-old son (Bakersfield, California)

The killer dad is identified as JAMES WILLIS JOHNSON. Notice that Mom was sentenced to 15 years in prison for "failing" to stop this violent thug. This is a longer sentence than many killer dads get (scroll through this site if you don't believe me).

Once again, we see a total double standard. And how much you want to bet that this dude would have very likely killed them both if she had tried to leave the relationship with the baby? And if he didn't kill them right away, how much you want to bet that this sh** would have got regular visitation at a minimum? And that he would have tortured/killed that baby then?

Father convicted of murder in death of infant son

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

A jury convicted James Willis Johnson of several felonies Tuesday - including murder - in connection with the death of his infant son.

Johnson, 33, faces a maximum of 25 years to life at his May 7 sentencing, according to a Kern County District Attorney's office news release. He was convicted of second-degree murder, assault on a child under eight and felony child endangerment in the death of 34-day-old Jordan Johnson.

Jordan Johnson was found dead in an apartment on Idaho Street on Nov. 10, 2010, the news release said. He had untreated and infected third-degree burns on his buttocks and genital area.

An autopsy revealed the baby had broken limbs, fractured ribs, a lacerated liver and severe head injury, the news release said.

Denise Belmonte, the baby's mother, was sentenced Jan. 9 to 15 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter. Prosecutors said they filed charges against her for failing to protect the child after learning of Johnson's ongoing abuse.
