Dad admits smoking pot with 5-year-old son (Scottsboro, Arizona)

Notice the telltale mention of a "girlfriend." That means the woman that pothead daddy was with was not the child's mother. Otherwise the article would have identified her as the mother.

So is dad ADAM WESLEY QUICK custodial? At minimum, he appears to have visitation rights. What happened to this boy's mother? And who gave this pothead access to a child? A judge?

Man admits to police he smoked pot with 5-year-old son

A Scottsboro man was arrested Tuesday after police officers found the man’s five-year-old son home alone.

Scottsboro Police Lt. Scott Matthews said officers were on the look-out for a person when they came upon a residence in the 200 block of Jonathan Street.

“Officers had warrants on someone they were looking for,” said Matthews. “At the residence, they could hear the child crying, but no one came to the door. DHR was notified.”

Officers later located the father, Adam Wesley Quick, 26 across town, according to Matthews.

“While officers were interviewing the child, the child said he had smoked marijuana with his dad, which [Quick] admitted,” said Matthews.

Matthews said Quick, who was located with his girlfriend, who wasn’t charged, told officers they had just left for a little bit and thought the child would be o.k.

Quick has been charged with furnishing a controlled substance to a minor, child in need of supervision and carrying a pistol without a permit. He was taken to the Scottsboro City Jail, then later transferred to the Jackson County Jail.

Quick remained in jail Wednesday.
