Dad of dead 2 year old has record of DV (Malaga, Spain)

UNNAMED DAD had been arrested for domestic violence on at least 4 ocassions, the last being in July 2006. So it's really not much of a suprise that he murdered one 2-year-old son, while the twin brother is hospitalized with fractured bones. The mother is also in jail, though her culpability is not spelled out. Though we would all like as moms to be superheroes who can stop all violence and bad things in the world, it's not always possible to stop a violent attack or even to remove the children from a violent family situation. Especially in these days of joint custody, mediation, and the like.

FATHER OF DEAD TWO YEAR OLD HAS RECORD OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Contributor / 2009-10-26 13:59:59

The father of the two year old Ukrainian baby who died in the Materno Infantil Hospital in Malaga last week has a record of domestic violence.

The autopsy confirmed that the baby died of violent abuse and medical examinations on his twin brother, who is also in care in the hospital, has revealed a number of fractured bones. His condition is said to be stable.

The father, a 23 year boxer from Russia, has apparently been arrested for demostic violence on at least four occasions, the most recent being in July 2006. Both he and his 20 year old Ukrainian wife have been held on remand in prison in Alhaurin de la Torre since Saturday. The couple maintain that the injuries were caused by a babysitter who was left to look after the children when they went out for a drink, but have been unable to give the courts and the police a description and contact details.

The regional government will decide this week whether custody of the second child will be granted to the grandmother or the child will be held indefinitely in the care of social services.
