Dad takes off with kids; leaves them crying in a dumpster (Dayton, Ohio)
Some will have you believe that fathers kidnap children because they want to spend time with their children, and have been unfairly deprived of their rights. Others point out that these guys are seldom motivated by parental feeling, and that abuse and control of the children and their mother is the primary incentive. This story seems to prove the latter.
Dad TOMMIE LEE JOHNSON, JR. got mad at the mother of his children, so he took off with their 2-year-old daughter and the mother's 8-month-old son. He won't tell police where they are (there's the control thing). Later the kids were found crying in a dumpster. Not surprisingly, Johnson has a history of domestic violence and drug abuse.
Do kids really need this so we can say they have a father?

Posted: 10:12 pm EDT July 26, 2009Updated: 9:13 am EDT July 27, 2009
DAYTON, Ohio -- Police in Dayton said that two children who were reported missing on Sunday night have been found alive in a Dumpster in the 900 block East Second Street in Dayton.
Officers said the children were crying when they were found. Medics were called to check the children out.
According to police, the children were last seen on Sunday night around 7:30 p.m.
Investigators believe the biological father of one of the children argued with the mother and then took off carrying a 2-year-old girl and pushing an 8-month-old boy in a stroller.
Officers arrested Tommie Lee Johnson, Jr around 9 p.m. Sunday after finding him in the area of East Second Street and Garland Avenue without the children.
Police said the children were last seen walking with Johnson toward North Cherrywood Drive near East Third Street.
Police said one of the children is a 2-year-old bi-racial female with brown curly hair. They said she was wearing pink pants and no shoes. Her name is Ashonti M. Johnson and officers said she is Johnson's biological daughter.
The other missing child is an 8-month-old boy who is white and Hispanic. Police said his name is Tommie L. Johnson III. Despite the name, police said he is not Johnson's biological son. Police said he was wearing a blue T-shirt with brown sleeves with a Teddy bear on the front and brown pants.
Police said Johnson will not tell them where the children are.
Lt. Brian Johns said, "Yeah, he's told us so many stories, said they were at the babysitter's, we went there, she hasn't seen them, last we heard now, he gave the kids to some people in a red car, who he doesn't know who they are."
Police said that Johson has been arrested several times for domestic violence and has a history of drug abuse.
Detectives talked with Johnson for several hours and then booked him into the Montgomery County Jail.
