Shannon Price faced with aggravated assault charges

A York man was charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child after he beat his 7-week-old son last month, York City Police said.

Shannon Del Price, 25, of the 400 block of North George Street, remains in York County Prison on the charges. Bail was set at $5,000.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in Judge Joel Toluba's office Tuesday, York City Police were dispatched to York Hospital Jan. 14 for a child abuse complaint.

The infant boy's grandmother brought him to the hospital where staff took photos of severe bruising to his face, documents state. The grandmother saw the injuries after Price dropped his son off at her house to baby-sit him.

Documents state that Price admitted to police that he slapped the boy's face because "he was so frustrated."

Price's brother, Kyle Price, told police Shannon couldn't console the boy when he was continually crying, according to charging documents. Price allegedly then took the boy into another room when the brother said he heard a loud "slap noise."

Online records show that Price is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Judge Toluba on Feb. 13.
