Divorced dad kills 10-year-old son (Ahmedabad, India)

Notice that responsibility for this murder is deflected away from the actual killer dad, HARESH ADREJA, and blamed on a "dispute" between the boy's mother and the new step. Sorry. "Disputes" don't kill people. Killers kill people. Usual slick attempt to pin a father's crimes on somebody else--typically mom or another woman.

Also, I suppose that if this killer freak had not been granted custodial and/or visitation rights, this boy might still be alive. But of course, the media isn't going to mention THAT. In fact, it sounds like Daddy had custody....

Father kills 10-year-old son in Somnath

AHMEDABAD: A 35-year-old man was arrested by Odhav police on Sunday for killing his own son. Police said that the murder took place at Somnath in Juagadh district where they had gone on a pilgrimage. The father, Haresh Adreja, dumped the body of his 10-year-old son near Somnath temple.

Investigators said that a dispute between his former wife and new wife led him to kill his own son.

Odhav police officials said they got a message from Prabhas-Patan police station in Junagadh about an accused in the murder case. They kept a watch at Adreja's residence on Nikol Road, and nabbed him from therre on Sunday morning.

"He was earlier married to Jyotsna for eight years and had a son - Falgun. He divorced her in 2009 and got married to Kalpana after a love affair. The duo, however, was constantly fighting over Falgun. Kalpana did not want the child in Ahmedabad and had left Adreja's home a year ago. He tried to woo her back, but in vain," said an Odhav police official.

Out of desperation, Adreja left his house on Friday leaving a note declaring that he was going to commit suicide. He took Falgun with him and told his relatives that he was visiting Kalpana's native -Morbi. The father-son duo reached Somnath late on Friday night and went to the temple. While returning, Adreja took him to nearby bushes behind Somnath Trust guest house, strangulated him to death and threw the body in the bushes.

Meanwhile Arvind Patel, Adreja's elder brother, found the suicide note and knowing his location in Somnath, contacted the police. While the police denied any report of adult suicide, they informed him about a dead body. Patel went to Somnath and identified him as Falgun.

"Patel understood the entire plot and told the police that the child was killed to save Adreja's marriage. Adreja had planned to tell people that he got lost in Somnath. Patel also told us about the two wives and issue about the child. We thus filed a complaint against Adreja for murder and informed Ahmedabad police," said a Prabhas-Patan police official.

B G Chavda, inspector of Odhav police station, told TOI that they arrested Adreja and handed him over to Junagadh police for further questioning. "The team will come to the city to question his relatives and to know why Falgun did not go to his mother. What led Adreja to kill his own son is also a puzzle for the cops," he said.
