Sisters: Send rapist dad to prison for a long time (Livingston County, Illinois)

The teenage daughters of the UNNAMED DAD told the judge that their dad repeatedly raped them while they were growing up, and that authorities did not listen (unfortunately more common than not). They want him to go to jail for a "long prison sentence" as they fear he would kill any new victims. The abuse happened while mom was working. Mom and the kids were threatened with death if they told.

Sisters: Send rapist dad to prison for a long time

By Lisa Roose-Church • DAILY PRESS & ARGUS • July 1, 2009

Two sisters told a judge that their father, who repeatedly raped them, needs a long prison sentence because they fear he will kill his next victim if he is paroled in the future.

The man's oldest daughter, 19, said her father raped her when they lived in Georgia and Illinois, but no officials there listened to her story. The man's now-13-year-old daughter called her father a "manipulative, controlling jerk" who has demanded perfection from his kids and threatened them when he did not get it.

"(The defendant) is so emboldened that he will kill his next victim," the 19-year-old woman said.
Following the sisters' words, their father hung his head and took his chance to address Circuit Judge Michael P. Hatty.

His voice quiet, the tearful 42-year-old father apologized to his wife and daughters for the pain he caused.

"I was wrong, he said. "I hurt them and I'm very sorry. I accept the punishment for my actions."
Hatty then sentenced the defendant to 95 months to 15 years in prison for molesting his daughters.

The father had earlier pleaded guilty in a Livingston County courtroom to two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, which means penetration, and one count each of second-degree CSC and possession of child sexually abusive material. The latter charge was for an unknown number of photographs of child pornography found on his computer.

He was initially charged with first-degree CSC, which carries a penalty of up to life in prison.
The girls' mother compared her husband to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the literary character who took a potion that turned him from a mild-mannered man into a homicidal maniac.

The girls' mother said her husband "terrorized" the children, threatening to beat them. She said her husband's abuse occurred while she was working.

The mother said her husband also threatened to kill her many times and to harm the children if they ever told his secret.

Michigan police learned of the abuse in January after the defendant's wife reported her suspicions to Child Protective Services.

The man's 19-year-old daughter said her father began molesting her when she was 9, and he raped her at age 13, police said. The younger daughter said her abuse began in 2007, police noted.

The Daily Press & Argus is not reporting the man's identity because it would identify his daughters.
