A three-year-old boy was beaten to death by his own father when his lactose intolerant son vomited after being fed milk.
Mahad Ahmed, 43, beat his son Mohammed so badly that pathologists said his injuries were like those normally seen in car crash victims.
He was today jailed for 10 years for manslaughter after being cleared of murder by a jury.
Judge Mr Justice Jay told the Old Bailey the attack was a "volcanic explosion of rage which came on suddenly and dissipated suddenly".
A pathologist said that as a result of the attack, Mohammed suffered a lacerated liver, bleeding on the brain and fractured ribs.
Mr Jay said: "I believe that you punched Mohammed hard in the chest and stomach and then kicked him or stamped upon him when he was on the floor.
"It is likely that the back of his head struck a hard object, the wall or floor when you punched, kicked or stamped upon him.
"The injuries indicate a number of blows were struck which occurred in rapid succession.
"You lost your temper after Mohammed vomited all over the bedclothes, duvet, pillow and his tee-shirt.
"He had already vomited at least twice that day and your patience, which by then was wearing then, finally and explosively ran out.
"In short these actions were committed in a violent rage.
"It was a rage which erupted suddenly and very quickly subsided when you realised what you had done and cried out for help.'
He added: "Your intention that evening was to punish your son and inflict on him a degree of physical harm for the wrong you believed he had done.
"It was an intention which did not fall a long way short of the intention necessary for the offence of murder."
Mr Justice Jay said Ahmed has not expressed "any genuine remorse" and fails to accept responsibility for killing his child.
He added: "This was extreme, sudden and short-lived loss of self-control whose terrible consequences will be suffered by you and the rest of your family indefinitely."
He added: "You knew Mohammed tended to vomit after drinking milk and I believe that you stubbornly ignored medical advice to stop giving him dairy products."
He said the aggregating features are Mohammed's 'vulnerability because of his age' and that his father 'was in a supreme position of responsibility'.
The Ahmed family lived in one room of a mid-terrace house and shared their kitchen and bathroom with another Somalian family.
Mohammed's mother was staying away from home at the time of the attack.
Neighbours reported hearing bangs and a child crying on the day he died and Ahmed was seen clearing up sick in the kitchen.
He claims he went to get his son a potty and when he returned he found him on the floor.
Mohammed was found lying lifeless and naked on the bedroom floor.
He was in cardiac and respiratory arrest and could not be revived by paramedics or medical staff.
Robert Girling defending said: "This is man who has lost almost everything as a result of what happened. He has already paid a high price."
Ahmed, from Streatham, South London, was cleared of murder but convicted of the lesser alternative of manslaughter after a nine-day trial at the Old Bailey.

Rebecca McCarthy (26) fought back tears after verbal clashes between her family and friends of her late husband, Martin McCarthy (50).
Mr McCarthy had left a note in the milking parlour of his west Cork farm, outlining his intention to take his own life on March 5, 2013 – but his friends rejected any suggestion that he ever planned to hurt his daughter Clarissa.
An inquest in Bantry recorded verdicts of drowning for the father and daughter, from Audley Cove near Ballydehob, West Cork.
Ms McCarthy, an American, had travelled back to Ireland to attend the Bantry inquest from her new home in California, accompanied by her mother and aunt. But she briefly fled the hearing when friends of Mr McCarthy loudly objected to the coroner returning a verdict which implied that the farmer had restrained his little girl in the water.
Brothers Alan and Daniel Hurley, neighbours and friends of Mr McCarthy, said there was no pathological evidence to support this.
There were heated exchanges, with members of Rebecca's family saying "He killed her" and "If he was still alive he would be charged with murder."
However, Mr McCarthy's friends insisted to the coroner that "he idolised that child" and "he would never harm an animal, let alone a person".
One friend suggested to the coroner that the father and daughter may have fallen off a ledge into the sea that night.
But Coroner Frank O'Connell said he had to take the evidence into account.
The inquest had heard that a major land and sea search was launched for the father and child when a note addressed to Mr McCarthy's wife was discovered in the milking parlour on March 5.
The note, which was not read out at the inquest, was in Mr McCarthy's handwriting.
Mr O'Connell, who read the note, said it was clear why serious concerns over the safety of the two were raised, as the farmer was "explicit" in the note about his intentions.
"You cannot ignore the note," he said. Mr O'Connell recorded a verdict of "drowning... death was self-caused" for Mr McCarthy. His death was also accelerated by severe cardiac disease.
In the case of Clarissa, he recorded a verdict of death "as a result of drowning, where the deceased, a three-year-old child, was taken into the water, where she became unconscious and drowned".
Ms McCarthy declined to comment to the media after the inquest.
Her solicitor, Martin Harvey, said the family wanted to thank all the members of the emergency services who mounted a desperate search for the father and girl and then tried so hard to save them.
"Rebecca wishes to ask members of the media to allow her to grieve her terrible loss. We would ask everyone to please respect her privacy," he said.
In her statement to gardai, Mrs McCarthy had told how she hugged her daughter's favourite rock by a beach adjoining the family farm from midnight as the Goleen Coastguard and Baltimore RNLI combed the sea for any trace of the father and daughter.
"I squeezed it (Clarissa's favourite rock)... and then I heard that they had found Clarissa," she said.
"I tried to run over (to the body) but they pulled me back. Then they put something over her little legs and they put her in the ambulance. I got in beside her," she added.
The little girl was pronounced dead by a GP before she was removed to hospital.

Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster said there was no evidence of trauma in either case. Alcohol was found in Mr McCarthy's system.
The couple first met when Rebecca was a 16-year-old student at Schull Community School a decade ago.
They married in 2006 when Rebecca was 19 and Clarissa was born in May 2009.
Mr McCarthy doted on the child and referred to her as his "princess".
Ms McCarthy insisted that her husband and daughter be buried together and members of both families walked into Schull Church side by side for the Requiem Mass last year in a gesture of solidarity.
Mr McCarthy was buried with Clarissa cradled in his arms in a single coffin.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The father of a 5-year-old girl who died from injuries suffered during a shaken baby syndrome incident that occurred more than five years ago has been arrested.
Baton Rouge police said Thursday that Terry Edwards, 32, of Baton Rouge, is in custody for the death of Taliyah Edwards. Cpl. Don Coppola Jr. said Edwards was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail on one count of second-degree murder.
Bond information was not immediately available. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.
The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/MfrmyQ) the little girl was three months old in April 2008 when she was brought to a hospital emergency room. Coppola says doctors determined the infant had suffered a stroke sometime prior to her visit and thought her injuries may have been a result of shaken baby syndrome, but they weren't sure.
The child was eventually returned to her parents, Coppola said.
Over the next five years, no reports were made of child abuse or neglect involving the baby, he said.
Then in August 2013, the child died as a result of a terminal seizure, said Dr. Beau Clark, the East Baton Rouge Parish coroner.
During her autopsy, medical examiners traced the cause of the seizures back to a traumatic brain injury that occurred in the infant's youth, Clark said, which enabled him to rule her death a homicide.
"She suffered a brain injury in the early years of life, which led to a seizure disorder," Clark said. "She died as a result of a terminal seizure."
Clark said neurologists will say that it's not uncommon for young children who suffer traumatic brain injuries to develop ultimately fatal seizure disorders.

She was subsequently transported to Children’s Mercy Hospital in wake of her brain injury.
The abuse was reported to Atchison police on Feb. 14 by officials from the Kansas Department of Children and Family Services, as well as representatives from Children’s Mercy Hospital. The report immediately initiated an investigation, Wilson said.
Mr. Betts was booked at Atchison County Jail, where he remains in lieu of $50,000 bond.
Mr. Kuckelman said he was scheduled for the 9 a.m. criminal docket today in Atchison County District Court. Mr. Kuckelman said he anticipated an attorney would be appointed to represent Mr. Betts during the court action.
According to the person felony scale in Kansas, a level one ranks as the most severe and level 10 is considered to be the least severe. The count of abuse of a child filed against Mr. Betts is categorized as a level 5 person felony and the aggravated battery charge is a level 4 person felony.

Dad convicted of raping, relentlessly abusing daughter; with two sexual assault convictions, why wasn't this man in prison? (United Kingdom)
From what I have heard, it is notoriously difficult to get a rape conviction in the UK. UNNAMED DAD had TWO for sexual assault. Who knows how many rapes and sexual assaults did not result in a conviction. If violence against women were taken seriously, this sh**head would have been locked up for good a long time ago, and wouldn't have been around to terrorize his family and rape/choke his daughter.

A depraved and dangerous Bradford father has been sentenced to a 19-year extended prison term for the rape and “relentless” sexual abuse of his daughter.
The man, in his late 30s, was ordered to serve 14 years in jail and an extra five years on licence.
He cannot be identified by order of the judge to protect the vulnerable and deeply damaged teenage victim and other members of her family.
The defendant pleaded guilty to 18 offences, including one charge of orally raping the child when she was aged eight or nine.
The other counts, of sexual assault, inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity and common assault, by seizing her throat with both his hands, reflected a “constant, repeated and relentless” catalogue of abuse, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC told Bradford Crown Court yesterday.
The man had previous convictions for sexually assaulting women in 2005 and 2009.
The first offence involved him approaching a female walking alone from behind, covering her mouth and molesting her.
Two further offences saw him being jailed for sexually assaulting a woman in a cupboard.
“Because of your make-up, noting the previous convictions, you present a real, clear and present danger to anyone with you when uncontrollable urges overtake you, particularly anyone vulnerable, young and female,” the judge said.
Prosecutor Sophie Drake said the man raped his daughter when she was eight or nine and then abused her again, repeatedly, from the age of ten or 11 until he was arrested.
On two occasions, he grabbed her round the throat when she was crying, ordering her to smile.
Last year, the girl’s mother saw she was withdrawn and upset and the teenager said her father tried to strangle her.
She then revealed the sexual abuse, saying she had promised her dad not to tell.
The court heard the man was a heavy drinker who was cruel to animals and had little empathy with his victims.
He was controlling and frightening in the family home, with uncontrollable urges and feelings, the court heard.
In mitigation, his barrister, Stephen Wood, said his client was very sorry for what he had done.
The girl drew a picture for the court, showing how the abuse had deeply damaged her.
She said she suffered sleeplessness and nightmares.
“This shows the profound and telling effect your depraved and persistent conduct has had on that little girl,” Judge Durham Hall said.
He told the man: “There is no guarantee that any treatment will be effective for you.”
The judge made an indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order and ordered the man to sign on the sex offenders’ register for life.

This is why men who abuse their partners are not safe around the children either. You would think this would be common sense, but fathers rights people have convinced the judicial system that it isn't so.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – A Newport News father is charged with child abuse after a domestic incident involving his infant son.
Holly McPherson with the Newport News Police Department said officers were called to the first block of Colony Square Court around 2:40 a.m. Wednesday to investigate a domestic assault involving an infant.
The victim told police she was in an argument with 30-year-old Charles Reed. When Reed became increasingly angry, the victim said she put their two-month-old baby in a car seat and placed the car seat in a bassinet.
Police said Reed grabbed the bassinet, which flipped over, causing the child to fall onto the floor.
According to the victim, Reed continued to yell and made threats toward her. She said she then left the residence with the baby.
Medics determined the infant was not injured.
Reed was arrested and charged with assault, assault on a family member (3rd or subsequent offense), and child abuse.
This is why men who abuse their partners are not safe around the children either. You would think this would be common sense, but fathers rights people have convinced the judicial system that it isn't so.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – A Newport News father is charged with child abuse after a domestic incident involving his infant son.
Holly McPherson with the Newport News Police Department said officers were called to the first block of Colony Square Court around 2:40 a.m. Wednesday to investigate a domestic assault involving an infant.
The victim told police she was in an argument with 30-year-old Charles Reed. When Reed became increasingly angry, the victim said she put their two-month-old baby in a car seat and placed the car seat in a bassinet.
Police said Reed grabbed the bassinet, which flipped over, causing the child to fall onto the floor.
According to the victim, Reed continued to yell and made threats toward her. She said she then left the residence with the baby.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY -- Months after a 3-month-old was laid to rest in Williamson County, his father now faces murder charges in connection with his death.
The court documents were filed Tuesday. They show that 22-year-old Brandon Vaughn is charged with two counts of first degree murder.
Vaughn was in Williamson County court Wednesday facing a judge for the first time in this case.
The obituary for Braysen Michael Vaughn describes the 3-month-old as a baby with a sweet disposition and smile.
However, on the afternoon of October 30, a 911 call came in to the Johnston City Police Department. The emergency was an unresponsive child.
Even with CPR efforts, Braysen was pronounced dead a short time later that afternoon.
At the start of the investigation, it appeared like the death would be natural causes.
Court documents now allege that Brandon suffocated the baby by throwing a comforter over the child's face.
On Wednesday afternoon, Vaughn walked into a Williamson County Courthouse wearing a suicide vest.
The judge read him his rights and gave him a copy of his charges. He then questioned him about his finances and appointed him a public defender.
Vaughn is being held in the Williamson County Jail on $1 million bond. He's due back in court on March 17.
