Sole custody dad charged with letting 10-year-old son smoke meth (Salt Lake City, Utah)

Would some family court judge out in Utah like to explain why this drugged out freak of an UNNAMED DAD had sole custody? Notice that this little boy was furtively calling Mom to let her know what was going on with the meth, so she was obviously still in the picture and had a good relationship with her son. The triumph of fathers rights once more....

A 50-year-old man is facing child endangerment charges after his 10-year-old son said he was allowed to smoke meth.

The 10-year-old boy was admitted Tuesday to Primary Children’s Medical Center after having taken the narcotics. He told a detective he had taken a drug pipe from his home, where he lives with his father, and scraped out the marijuana residue to smoke it, charging documents say.

The boy also told police that he found a plastic bag believed to have methamphetamine and smoked it, court documents say. The mother of the boy told police that her son had called her the previous night and told her that his father had left the meth pipe out and let him smoke it.

Blood tests showed the boy had marijuana and amphetamine in his system, charging documents say. The 50-year-old man, who has sole custody of the 10-year-old, admitted that he uses both meth and marijuana and that it was possible that his son had found drugs in the home, the documents say.

The man also admitted that he found a meth pipe on his son earlier that day but that he did not tell officers because he did not want to "snitch" on his son, documents say.

The father is charged with two counts of endangerment of child or elder adult, a third-degree felony, and one count of obstruction of justice, a third-degree felony.
