Oskaloosa, Iowa – Osky News obtained documents further detailing the charges placed against Christopher Allen Atchison. The complaint reads:

The defendant is accused of the crime of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree (Two Counts) in violation of Section 709.1(3) 709.3(2) of the Iowa Criminal Code, which is a Class B Felony. A Class B Felony carries a maximum of 25 years in prison.

The affidavit reads: “On 7/8/2011, the Iowa Department of Human Services received a suspected child abuse report, regarding the possible sexual abuse of a female child, who will turn 3 years-of-age in August of 2011. This child resides within the city limits of Oskaloosa. The child’s father (above defendant) was identified as the suspect in this report. The Department of Human Services contacted the Oskaloosa Police Department regarding this matter.

At approximately 5:40 p.m. this date, I conducted an interview of the above listed defendant. During this interview, the defendant admitted to this officer that he had engaged in a sex act with the above mentioned [almost] 3-year-old. The defendant admitted that this act occurred at his residence (515 9th Avenue East, Oskaloosa, Iowa) on or about the 6th of July, 2011.

Also during this interview, the defendant admitted that on or about the Summer months of 2010, he had committed a sex act with his then 4-year-old son, while giving the child a bath in his residence.”

Atchison is being held at the Mahaska County Jail on $50,000 cash only bond. His preliminary hearing is set for July 19, 2011 at 10:30 a.m.

A criminal charge is merely a criminal charge and not an indication of guilt. All suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
