Dad accused of abusing daughter for over twenty years (Northern Ireland)

Notice there is no mention of a mother in the home. Was UNNAMED DAD a single or custodial father? Of course, there is no clarification here, which is typical.

Father accused of abusing daughter for over 20 years
14 Apr 2015

A Belfast man has gone on trial, accused of subjecting his daughter to a "life of inappropriate sexual activity" which spanned over two decades.

The 64-year old man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his daughter, has been charged with multiple counts of gross indecency, indecent assault and rape.

A jury at Belfast Crown Court heard allegations that the sexual offending against his daughter began when she was 11 and continued until she was aged 32, when she moved away from Northern Ireland.

Crown prosecutor Philip Mateer QC said the accused's behaviour towards his daughter was "exemplified by his domination and control over her ... and continued even after she became an adult."

The accused has been charged with a total of 16 offences which the Crown say were committed over a period from January 1987 to December 2007.

Mr Mateer QC told the jury that the abuse began during the girl's formative years, and that this abuse by her dominant father became a way of life for her.

The prosecutor said that even when she moved into her own home and had a child, her father would still have sex with her.

Telling the jury "she never consented to any of this behaviour", Mr Mateer said that when she said no to intercourse it "made no difference" and that the accused "carried on ... he wanted sex and that was it."

The court heard the woman, who is now 40, made a complaint to police on 13 July and that she referred to her the abuse as being a "vicious circle" and "normal" to her until she was able to "make the break" and leave Northern Ireland.

The jury heard that when the allegations made by his daughter were put to the accused, he claimed none of the incidents happened.

He subsequently pleaded not guilty to all the offences levelled against him and is currently standing trial at Belfast Crown Court.

Dad gets probation for child porn (County Down, Northern Ireland)

This headline and first paragraph are misleading. Dad MICHAEL STUART JACKSON didn't "just" collect or look at child porn; HE MADE IT. His own attorney admits he was "controlling" when it came to his wife and kids. Ya think?

And yet this scumbag only gets PROBATION. Typical of the coddling that sexually abusive father get in the UK and everywhere else in the world.

Probation for father-of-two over child abuse images

Published on the 27 August 2014 20:34

A 37-year old father of two from Co Down was today placed on probation for three years after he admitted possessing 258 indecent images of children.

As part of his probation Michael Stuart Jackson, from Craigarusky Road in Killinchy, will undergo the Internet Sexual Offenders Treatment Programme. In addition, he was made the subject of a five-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

Downpatrick Crown Court, sitting in Belfast, heard that police called at Jackson’s home with a warrant on February 28 last year and that during the course of a search, Jackson’s laptop was seized. When the laptop was forensically tested, a total of 258 indecent images of children were discovered in a file marked ‘Michael’s downloads’. Also present were several extreme pornographic images of bestiality.

Crown prosecutor Rosemary Walsh said that some of the images in the more serious categories included oral sex being performed on a baby by a female adult, and children as young as four being raped and forced to perform oral sex on adult males.

Ms Walsh also revealed that during police interviews, Jackson said he had been looking at over 18 porn websites, but that other images had popped up from websites he would not normally go to. He also admitted that some of these images that “inadvertantly” popped up were of children as young as ten.

The court heard Jackson was interviewed a second time last August, and on this occasion he claimed he had been under the influence of drugs during the first interview and had given “incorrect answers to police.” He did, however, accept he had viewed images of children on the Internet.

It also emerged that both Jackson’s wife and two children has access to the laptop used by him to view and download child porn images. They have since moved overseas.

Jackson - who worked for the family furniture business - subsequently pleaded guilty to seven counts of making indecent photographs of children, two counts of possessing indecent photographs of children and three counts of possessing an extreme pornographic image.

Defence lawyer Darren Duncan told the court that whilst on the surface Jackson had a good family background, there were “issues” between his client and his father. These problems, Mr Duncan said, led to Jackson having “issues about control”, especially concerning his wife and two children.

Regarding the offending, the lawyer said this also came down to control. He said that the pop-up images “intrigued” Jackson, who “acknowledged thereafter that he searched for other images”.

Mr Duncan added: “He felt this gave him an element of control in that he could look at whatever he wished.” Mr Duncan told Judge Geoffrey Miller QC that Jackson looked at these images whilst on legal highs. He also spoke of the “clear implications” his client’s actions have had both on him and his family - adding “he is far from proud at what he had done.”

Passing sentence, Judge Miller said that he accepted Jackson had displayed both a level of victim empathy and also embarrassment and remorse for his actions. He also acknowledged Jackson’s clear criminal record.

However, the Judge told Jackson that by viewing these images, he had “contributed” to the perpetuation of child sexual abuse where youngsters are subjected to acts of violence and depravity.

Placing Jackson under a three year probation order, Jackson was told by Judge Miller: “It is clearly apparent from your background and from the reports I have that programmes that exist are of a necessity for you to fulfil, in order that the underlying deviancy within your character which has led to these offences being committed needs to be addressed.”

Dad gets 8 years for killing 5-week-old daughter; was "frustrated" when she interrupted his video game (Belfast, Northern Ireland)

Dad is identified as MARK SANDLAND.

Father gets 8 years for baby death

09 July 2014

A father has been jailed for eight years for killing his baby daughter after being frustrated by her screaming as he tried to play a computer game.

Mark Sandland, 28, sobbed as he was sentenced for picking up five-week-old Aimee-Rose by her torso and shaking her during a sudden loss of temper.

He claimed he suffered an epileptic fit and came round to find his daughter underneath him at their flat in Church Road in St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex.

Police who attended the flat after Aimee-Rose was admitted to hospital on November 5 2012 found a PlayStation game controller on the sofa opposite the TV.

Sandland was charged with murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of lack of intent, which was accepted by the Crown.

Sentencing him at Hove Crown Court, Judge Mr Justice Sweeney said that after he inflicted the injuries, Sandland lied and sought to cover up his actions.

Prosecutor Sally Howes QC told Lewes Crown Court on Monday that Sandland's mobile phone internet history showed he logged on to a website offering tips on how to play Assassin's Creed 3 on his PlayStation at 2.22pm.

The detail of the website, giving step-by-step instruction, meant there would have been little point accessing it unless the game was being played, she added.

Mr Justice Sweeney said: "It's the Crown's case that thereafter, frustrated with the game and with Aimee-Rose screaming, you lost your temper and you assaulted her, gripping her torso hard and violently shaking her.

"Whilst it's impossible to identify the precise detail of what you did, the injuries that you caused Aimee-Rose speak for themselves."

Her injuries included bruising to her face, chest, abdomen, hip and lower limbs.

She also suffered a range of other injuries, including subdural haemorrhages in a number of locations. Some 16 minutes after Sandland logged on to the website giving tips on Assassin's Creed 3, he dialled 999.

Mr Justice Sweeney told him: "Whilst you have no recollection now of the fatal incident, it's obvious that at the time you appreciated what you had done and in consequence lied and sought to cover up what had actually happened.

Father got his teenage son to fondle him, court told

A 66-year-old Belfast man has gone on trial accused of indecently assaulting his teenage son on numerous occasions

By Ashleigh McDonald – 08 July 2014

A 66-year-old Belfast man has gone on trial accused of indecently assaulting his teenage son on numerous occasions when he came home from drinking at a pub.

The abuse allegedly occurred over a period spanning November 1993 to November 1995 when the son was aged 13 and 14. Belfast Crown Court yesterday heard the abuse took place "on at least 20 occasions".

Opening the Crown case against the accused – who cannot be named to protect the identity of his son – prosecutor Tessa Kitson told a jury the incidents occurred after his mother and father came home from the pub on a Friday night.

When the defendant came home, he would bring his son into his bedroom and lie on the bed while the teenager removed his father's boots and trousers. The defendant would then take his underpants off and get his son to touch him.

The accused was charged with three counts of indecently assaulting a child, but denied his son's allegations. He told police the claims of abuse were made shortly after a family argument. The trial continues.

Dad jailed for 6 months for killing 19-month-old daugher; agency "failure" blamed (Belfast, Northern Ireland)

A violent father murders an infant girl, and everybody and everything is blamed. Except Daddy, who only got six months for the crime. It was an agency "failure." It was Daddy's PTSD. It was this, it was that.

Read carefully, and you'll see that dad LIAM CULVERHOUSE was violent before he was in the Army. But notice that nothing more is elaborated about that.

None of this bull crap would fly with a mother. Oh, the poor little mommy suffered from trauma and that's why she slaughtered the baby? Nobody would care, and you can just about bet she'd be doing years of prison time.

Child death review finds 'failures'

Liam Culverhouse was last month jailed for six years after admitting killing his 19-month-old daughter

26 February 2014

A serious case review has found failings by health professionals who missed opportunities to save a baby girl killed by her ex-soldier father who was wounded in Afghanistan.

The report said there had been a failure by agencies to "discover or take into account the troubled background" of Liam Culverhouse in the run-up to the death of his daughter Khloe Abrams.

There were also difficulties in information-sharing and communication, and an inability by medical services to identify and respond to Khloe's significant injuries.

Lance Corporal Culverhouse was last month jailed for six years after admitting killing his 19-month-old daughter.

He lost his right eye in a rogue attack at an Afghan National Police checkpoint in Nad-e-Ali, Helmand province, in November 2009.

Five of his comrades were killed in the attack.

Eighteen months after returning home, Culverhouse assaulted his then seven-week-old daughter Khloe at the family home in Northampton, leaving her fighting for her life in hospital for nearly 18 months.

Culverhouse, who was medically discharged from the Army, pleaded guilty to causing or allowing the death of the toddler.

Medical professionals found in 2010 that he had begun to have some Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) symptoms and was feeling irritable.

A Serious Case Review (SCR) into Khloe's death by Northamptonshire Local Safeguarding Children Board found that there was a "failure to discover or take into account the troubled background of the father when providing universal services", as well as difficulties in inter-agency information-sharing and communication, and an "inability to identify and respond to the significant injuries suffered by the child".

The SCR found that nothing was ever discovered about the "maltreatment the child suffered during a short life" despite there being opportunities to do so.

In addition, had information about Culverhouse, who had a troubled and violent background that worsened following his injuries in Afghanistan, been properly shared it "should have led professionals to be very concerned about the safety of the child".

Khloe was admitted to hospital on May 8 2011 and found to have multiple injuries.

Dad charged with killing 3-month-old daughter freed on bail (Belfast, Northern Ireland)

Typical abuser daddy coddling. Dad is identified as CHRISTOPHER O'NEILL.

Father of 'shaken' baby is bailed to live in west Belfast

By Paul Higgins – 14 February 2014

A father whose baby daughter died after he allegedly shook her has been freed on bail and allowed to move back to west Belfast.

Christopher O'Neill is charged with causing grievous bodily harm to his baby daughter Caragh Walsh on February 5.

The three-month-old girl fought for life for two days after being admitted to Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital.

A bail condition that barred 23-year-old O'Neill from contacting his partner Tammy-Louise Walsh was also removed by consent.

When he first appeared in court last Friday, a police officer said the infant had suffered a "significant traumatic brain injury" and was bleeding in her brain.

He outlined to Craigavon Magistrates Court how baby Caragh was taken to hospital on Wednesday of last week "unconscious and not breathing".

The officer had said that a CT scan revealed subarachnoid and subdural bleeding on to her brain. The officer said police were alerted by medical staff as they were not satisfied with O'Neill's explanation for his daughter's injuries.

That court was told O'Neill, who works at Poundland in west Belfast's Park Centre, admitted "shaking" the girl when challenged during police interviews.

His solicitor claimed O'Neill had been looking after his daughter at the Glasvey Park flat he shared with Ms Walsh in the Twinbrook area of west Belfast when Caragh "became suddenly ill".

In a "panic" he took steps which he thought were "perfectly reasonable in the circumstances".

During two days of police interviews O'Neill was granted compassionate police bail to visit his dying daughter in hospital.

The couple had been together for 18 months and had only moved into the apartment five days before the incident, the court heard.

Yesterday a prosecution lawyer told Lisburn Magistrates Court the police were happy for O'Neill to move from his bail address in east Belfast to the Whiterock Road in the west of the city.

O'Neill, whose family filled the public gallery, was released on continuing bail and told to return to court on March 10.

Dad charged with assaulting 3-month-old daughter (Northern Ireland)

UNNAMED DAD. The circumstances behind why Daddy was "left alone" with the baby are not explained. Was he "caretaking" while the mother was out? Was this a child access situation? We're obviously not told. But notice the abuser Daddy Coddling here: Daddy has been allowed to "visit" the baby he assaulted in the hospital. Hope somebody is keeping a tight eye on him. You know, in case the poor darling gets "frustrated" again, and decides that an infant is a suitable punching bag.

Father charged with assaulting baby

A 23-year-old man has appeared in court charged with causing grievous bodily harm to his three-month-old daughter.

The baby is in a critical condition in Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital.

The child was brought to the hospital on Wednesday from a house on the outskirts of west Belfast.

Relatives of the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, wept as details of the case were outlined at Craigavon Magistrates Court, County Armagh.

A defence lawyer told the court that relatives on both sides of his family had made clear their support.

'Shaking'

He said his client had been left alone with the baby girl on Wednesday morning.

The lawyer said the accused had found the child in some sort of medical distress and had "taken actions" to try to help her.

The court heard that the man later admitted to hospital staff that these actions had included shaking the little girl.

It was following this admission that the police were called and the man was arrested.

The defence lawyer said that, during two days of questioning, his client had insisted that his actions had seemed reasonable in the circumstances.

He said there was no eyewitness and the case would hinge on medical opinion that has yet to be provided.

Granting bail despite police objections, the judge said that the accused had already been granted compassionate bail to visit his daughter in hospital.

The judge added that the original charge of grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent had been reduced to GBH.

The accused is to appear in court again in Lisburn, Count Antrim, on 17 February.

Rapist dad on trial for letting brother, pal, rape his kids during his vistation time (Belfast, Northern Ireland

If you get to the ninth paragraph, you finally found out that the torture and rapes took place during UNNNAMED DAD's "access visits." Of course, we are not told what judge authorized these "access visits" or whether the mother ever expressed previous reservations or concerns that were ignored.

Rapist father let brother and pal abuse his kids, trial told

By George Jackson – 22 January 2014

Two brothers and a third man, a family friend, have gone on trial at Londonderry Crown Court, sitting in Coleraine, charged with a combined total of 56 charges of sexually and physically abusing a young boy and a young girl over an eight-year period, starting in 1990 when the girl was aged six and the boy aged seven.

The charges include rape, gross indecency with children, indecent assault, buggery, common assault, child cruelty, and one of the defendants is charged with making his house available for the defilement of his daughter.

Opening the case to a jury of six men and six women before Judge Gordon Kerr, prosecutor, Jackie Orr QC said that they might find some of the evidence distressing.

The allegations have been made by the daughter and son of one of the defendants.

The jury was told of drinking parties attended by eight or nine men where the children's father allegedly allowed his daughter to be raped.

"The men played cards to see who would go first," Ms Orr told the jurors.

She said the evidence involved prolonged physical abuse, beatings, throttlings and both victims being burned with cigarettes by one of their abusers.

The physical abuse then escalated into serious sexual abuse, including multiple rapes.

Ms Orr said the alleged attacks happened when the boy and girl, who are now adults, were on access visits to the home of their estranged father.

It's alleged the father sexually abused his son and daughter and allowed other men, including his brother and a friend, to abuse them too.

The prosecutor said on one occasion, when the girl was 10 years old, just before Christmas during a visit to her father's house, "he told her he had a Christmas present for her and told her to go to the bedroom and undress. He told her to get into bed. Then he got into bed and raped her. She remembers the pain and she screamed, but he said – you like it, you like it. Then he called her a whore. He raped her again the next morning."

On another occasion the children's uncle raped the girl in her father's home. "They took it in turns to rape her. She was crying and they were laughing.

They videotaped it and later they made her watch it," the prosecutor said.

In relation to the third defendant, the family friend, Ms Orr said the evidence was he raped the girl in her father's home.

"He brought the friend into the girl's bedroom and said 'happy birthday' to him. Then he closed the door and left him alone with his daughter and he raped her," she added.

The trial, which is expected to last six weeks, continues.

Inquest: Violent custodial dad in "custody battle" murdered 3- and 11-year-old sons (Belfast, Northern Ireland)

We posted on this case just recently. We already knew that dad GRAHAM ANDERSON had assaulted Mum's boyfriend or presumed boyfriend, and went to prison for it. We then heard how this slick sociopath charmed the caseworker to give him custody, because Mum presumably had a "chaotic lifestyle" (whatever the hell that means). In truth, this is so vague that virtually anybody could be accused of this.) In typical fathers rights fashion, an actual criminal record (as long as it belonged to Daddy) was discounted as being just as good (even better!) than Mum.

Now we find out more here. Daddy also had a TEN YEAR history of domestic violence against the mother, and a history of cocaine addiction. Surprised he still got custody despite all that?

Surprised that the assault against the boyfriend  (a dude) got him jail time but not (apparently) the assaults against Mum?

Still believe that poor daddies are discriminated against in the family courts and in the "system"? On the contrary. The most violent, drug-addicted pieces of sh** are just fawned over if they happen to be sperm donors.

Father killed sons and himself

13 November 2013

A violent father facing a custody battle with his ex-partner drugged his children and killed them before taking his own life, an inquest heard today.

Graham Anderson, 36, was found hanging in his bedroom while the bodies of Jack, 11, and three-year-old Bryn were found covered by duvets in their beds of their home in Tidworth, Wiltshire on September 1 last year.

A coroner said that it was likely Anderson had attempted to cut Jack's throat with a kitchen knife but had then most likely smothered him during a 10-minute terrifying struggle that was overheard by a neighbour.

Hours later Anderson, who had been jailed in 2011 for violence and possessing cocaine and had been accused by ex-partner Victoria Jones of beating her, smothered his younger son before hanging himself.

David Ridley, the Coroner for Wiltshire and Swindon, ruled that Anderson, who was heavily in debt and was known to have alcohol and drug problems, had taken his own life while Jack and Bryn had been unlawfully killed.

Anderson, a former lorry driver, was facing a court battle with Ms Jones for custody of Jack and Bryn. They were living with him having previously been staying with foster parents organised by Hampshire social services.

Nick Jones, the children's maternal grandfather, said that he believed Anderson killed the boys out of vengeance because his daughter had left him and he was "losing control".

"When we heard the news of what this man had done to our grandsons the world changed for us. It will not be the same again," he said.

"Our eldest daughter's life has been ruined and the knock on effect to our family is too difficult to describe."

Mr Jones, who was supported by his wife Kathryn, the boys' grandmother, added: "There is absolutely no mitigating circumstance for what he did. Who could actually want to take the lives of their own children? "

We have asked ourselves this question over and over since the events of last year. Our conclusion, it was an act of vengeance on our daughter Victoria.

"After being subjected to 10 years of domestic violence, suffering in silence, she was at last attempting to put her life back together after a turbulent two years following their separation.

Drunk abuser dad refuses to return 2-year-old son to mom after visitation, assaults police officers (Enniskillen, Northern Ireland)

The question not asked here: Why was a alcoholic father with a history of assault allowed access (custody and/or visitation) to his kids? This piece of sh** naturally decides he's not going to let his son return to the Mom, because that's the control-freak crap these guys always pull. Then the piece of sh** attacks the police when they come by.

That's why he's finally getting nailed. Not for the other times he beat up people--and got away with it. Wondering if one of those people was Mom? Wouldn't surprise me.

So was this visitation court-ordered? No explanation here.

Dad is identified as EAMON BLAISE GALLAGHER.

http://fermanaghherald.com/2013/06/jail-for-father-who-was-too-drunk-to-look-after-his-son/

Jail for father who was too drunk to look after his son

AN ENNISKILLEN father, who was told by a judge he wasn’t fit to be looking after his two year old son has been jailed for six months when he appeared before Fermanagh Magistrates Court.

Eamon Blaise Gallagher (38) from Loane Drive was sentenced to four months in jail for two assaults on police and had a two month suspended prison sentence activated by District Judge John Meehan.

On February 24 this year police were called to a house at Derrin Park in the town over an allegation the defendant wouldn’t allow his son to return to his mother.

The defendant was abusive to police telling them to ‘f*** off’ through a window and he appeared to be drunk.

Police forced entry to the house and the defendant continued to be aggressive towards police. He struggled with police striking one of them on the shin and when he continued to kick out at police he was arrested for assault.

District Judge Meehan told defence barrister Stefan Rafferty that the police had to effectively break in to the defendant’s house and that he had a two and a three year old in his care at the time.

Judge Meehan said there were clearly child protection issues here due to the fact the defendant was drunk.

“That is a serious risk to two children. Social Services should have been alerted to this (by police),” he said.

The judge said the defendant was drunk and was looking after two vulnerable children.

Mr Rafferty said his client accepted he had alcohol taken and that he was aggressive, indicating his dissatisfaction that police were at his property.

The barrister said his client had consumed alcohol but not to the extent that he couldn’t look after the children. Judge Meehan said this was an ‘insupportable proposition considering the defendant blew a reading of 86mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, more than twice the legal drink-drive limit.

The defendant was told by the judge he has a litany of incidents of attacking people but he has walked away from virtually all of them. “Not this time” the judge said.

Sentencing the judge said ‘in context of your atrocious record’ he was handing him a four month prison sentence on each of the two assault charges. And by activating the two month suspended sentence for resisting arrest this totalled six months in jail.

The defendant was released on bail of £200 pending appeal of the sentence.

Dad drowns 3-year-old daughter to punish mom for leaving him (Northern Ireland)

What garbage. Once again, the media gives extensive space to an ignorant friend of the killer daddy, and all we hear is praise about how he was a dedicated and loving family man, ad nauseum.

NO. Dedicated family men don't drown and murder their 3-year-old daughters--all because they're miffed because Mom is finally leaving their sorry @$$.

FACT: This is the typical behavior of control-freak abusers, who threaten (and often carry through with) violence when their partners finally work up the courage to leave them. The "nice guy" facade is just bullsh** for public consumption.

The killer daddy is identified as MARTIN MCCARTHY.

Murder-suicide theory over deaths

Gardai are investigating after the bodies of a man and a girl were discovered off the coast of Co Cork

06 MARCH 2013

A father drowned his three-year-old daughter before killing himself in an apparent-murder suicide as his marriage broke down, detectives believe.

The remains of farmer Martin McCarthy, 50, and little Clarissa were discovered on the coastline close to their west Cork home in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The tragedy has devastated her American-born mother Rebecca and numbed the tight-knit community around the picturesque village of Ballydehob.

Clarissa was described as a "happy, bubbly child" who locals said was adored by her mother and father.

Councillor Dermot Sheehan, a friend of Mr McCarthy and one of the volunteers who helped search for the pair, said people across the area are in shock.

"Everybody is numbed with shock and are trying to come to terms with the events of yesterday evening," he said.

"Martin would be very well-known in the community. He was a very hard-working farmer and was very well-known in farming circles throughout west Cork.

"His wife Rebecca has worked part-time on and off in the village locally in the post-office. They were a typical loving unit, Martin was a hard, dedicated working family man and Rebecca a lovely wife."

The horror unfolded at around midnight when 26-year-old Mrs McCarthy returned to the family's rural farmhouse in Foilnamuck, Ballydehob, and discovered her husband and their only child were missing. It is understood a note had been left at the property which sparked a massive search around the farm and nearby coastline.

Clarissa's body was discovered along the shoreline at the isolated Audley Cove shortly before 2am as her mother was on the scene. Her father's remains were found in shallow water nearby about 40 minutes.

Thug dad found guilty of fracturing skull of 7-month-old daughter (Belfast, Northern Ireland)

UNNAMED DAD

Thug found guilty of fracturing his baby's skull... but we can't name him By Deborah McAleese

Friday, 12 October 2012

A father-of-three who brutally attacked his infant daughter, leaving her with a fractured skull, is to have his identity kept a secret from the public following a court order.

The 25-year-old west Belfast man was found guilty on Wednesday of battering his seven-month-old daughter, causing her extensive face and head injuries.

So severe were the baby girl’s injuries that medics compared them to wounds suffered in a road traffic accident or from falling out of a first floor window.

But the public is not permitted to know who the violent offender is after a court imposed an order banning the publication of any information that could lead to his victim’s identification.

As a jury delivered its verdict against the man yesterday, the baby’s mother wept with relief in the public gallery.

The child beater simply nodded his head when the foreman of the jury told the court that jurors had reached a majority verdict and found him guilty of causing the baby grievous bodily harm with intent.

The man had been alone with the baby for 20 minutes on November 3, 2010 when he launched the vicious attack.

The child suffered a skull fracture as well as extensive bruising all over her face and the top of her head.

Her mother, who is now estranged from the man, had previously told the court that she had left the child alone with her former partner for 20 minutes and when she arrived back she found her daughter covered in bruises.

She said she had a “freak attack” and rushed the child to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Belfast, and told doctors to get the police.

After he was arrested the child’s father told police that when he was alone with his daughter the only time she was hurt was when he accidentally hit her head off the staircase wall as he carried her up to bed for a nap, and also when he accidentally dropped her bottle of milk which hit her in the face as he bent over to put her to bed.

However, after almost four hours of deliberations over two days the jury yesterday found this excuse implausible.

The man was remanded in custody and led handcuffed from the dock without looking towards his young victim’s family.

He is to be sentenced next month following the production of psychiatric and probation reports.

How the law on anonymity works

The law in Northern Ireland grants anonymity to children (up to age 14) and young persons (14-17 years old) involved in criminal proceedings.

The defendant in the present case cannot be identified because, given his familial relation to his victim, to do so would identify his baby daughter.

The order banning the identification of the defendant and the injured party in this case was made almost a year ago.

District Judge Fiona Bagnall made the ruling on November 3, 2011, citing the Contempt of Court Act 1981.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Justice (Children) (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 states, at Section 22 (1): “Where a child is concerned in any criminal proceedings ... the court may direct that (a) no report shall be published which (in any way reveals the identity of the child) ...”

Any newspaper or broadcaster contravening the act is liable to a fine not exceeding Level 5 on the scale (currently £5,000).

Dad punched and threatened Mum in front of 2-year-old son; told child "this is what daddies do to mammies" (Northern Ireland)

It's a wonder that any battered mums ever escape at all, because leaving these jerks doesn't help much. They still show up at your home and assault you, even when they're "prolific offenders" who should be behind bars. Notice how this freaking idiot is trying to groom a 2-year-old boy to follow his sick example.

Dad is identified as IAN CLOETE.

Father punched and threatened his ex, court told

Tuesday, 11 September 2012

A man alleged to have told his partner she was about to get a beating was then said to have told his two-year-old son: “This is what you will do when you get older. This is what daddies do to mammies.”

Ian Cloete (34) of Clooney Mews in Londonderry yesterday applied for bail on two charges of breaching a non-molestation order and assault said to have occurred on September 3.

The court heard that at 11am Cloete was alleged to have gone to the home of his former partner and walked in and began to make himself a cup of coffee. The woman asked him to leave and he was then said to have followed her into a toilet and threatened to punch her. He then went out to the garden and began shouting and when the woman tried to calm him down he is alleged to have punched her.

When she said she was planning to go out to town he is supposed to have replied: “You are going nowhere you are getting a beating.”

He is then alleged to have made the remarks to the child.

A police officer opposed bail and said he was a “prolific offender”.

District Judge Barney McElholm said he wanted to review the case on Thursday.

Dad's extradition ruling delayed; accused of raping daughter (Belfast, Northern Ireland)

Of course, all this is made tricky by dad LIAM ADAMS' political connections....

Liam Adam's Extradition Ruling Delayed

A Belfast man will have to wait until Monday to hear whether he will be extradited back to Northern Ireland on charges of raping and abusing his daughter.

Liam Adams is wanted by the PSNI in relation to 18 alleged offences against his daughter, Aine Tyrell, who has waived her right to anonymity.

The brother of Sinn Fein President and Louth TD Gerry Adams was in the High Court in Dublin this morning where a decision was deferred by the judge, who said he wants further time to make his judgment more "polished".

Mr Adams has denied the charges put to him. He said he did not assault his daughter on numerous occasions between 1977 and 1983.

Both father and daughter were in court today as Mr Justice John Edwards was expected to rule on whether the extradition should proceed.

The judge refused to give a decision of whether he would rule toward Mr Adam’s extradition back to the North of the island until he delivered a full ruling on Monday.

The Background

It is nearly three years ago that the media alleged the 56-year-old has abused his daughter.

In December 2009, a UTV programme claimed that Liam Adams had sexually abused his daughter for a period spanning about a decade.

During 2009–10 there was a significant amount of controversy concerning allegations of child abuse in the family of Gerry Adams, a senior Irish politician and leader of Sinn Féin. The allegations of abuse are against Gerry's brother and father and not against Gerry Adams himself.

In response to the programme, Gerry urged his brother to turn himself in to the police and he also alleged that his deceased father, Gerry Adams, Sr., had subjected family members to emotional, physical and sexual abuse.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland issued a European Arrest Warrant for Liam Adams’ arrest.

Liam Adams presented himself at a Garda Síochána police station in Sligo in December 2009. However they were not able to arrest him as they did not have the necessary European Arrest Warrant. Adams did not wish to hand himself into police in Northern Ireland, citing unfairness.

On the 3 March 2010, the High Court in Dublin endorsed the European arrest warrant, which was issued in Liam Adams' name by the Serious Organised Crime Agency.

The following day, 4 March, Adams again handed himself over to the authorities in the Republic. When he was arrested he said, "I just want to say I'm not guilty."

Dad who abused son, daughter jailed for six years (County Tyrone, Northern Ireland)

Of course it's an UNNAMED DAD. No mention of a mother in this home. Was there one?

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

Man who abused son and daughter jailedWednesday, 22 June 2011

A man who subjected his own son and daughter to 14 years of “vile” sexual abuse has been jailed for six years.

Jailing the 62-year-old, Judge Geoffrey Millar QC told him the “vile” abuse he subjected two of his children to was “entirely for the self-satisfaction and gratification of the defendant and was the most egregious breach of trust that a parent could ever perpetrate on a child”.

Earlier he heard that the Co Tyrone father-of-seven pleaded guilty to 15 charges of indecently assault and two of common assault against his daughter as well as four counts of indecently assaulting his son.

Prosecuting lawyer Michael McAleer told Omagh Crown Court, sitting in Belfast, that in relation to the man's daughter, she was abused on various dates between March 1975 and March 1989 when she was between four and 18 years old. Her younger brother was abused from when he was three until he was eight in the years between March 1982 and March 1987.

Taking each victim in turn, the lawyer said he would regularly force his daughter to touch him inappropriately, perform sex acts and that he would touch her both under and over her clothing.

As well as the jail term, Judge Millar ordered the pervert to sign the sex offenders register for life and barred him from ever working with children.

Dad shows "lack of remorse" for now disabled son (County Londonderry, Northern Ireland)

Notice the complete and total lack of a mother in this story. Was there one? Or was she somehow eliminated from this baby's life at birth, when dad ROBERT JOHN ANDERSON became his infant son's "carer"? Despite our best efforts at erasing the differences between mothers and fathers, fathers still DOMINATE "shaken baby" assaults on infants--even though they make up a minority of infant caregivers.  Maybe for the same reason that men dominate violent crime as a whole. It's no coincidence that this father also has a criminal record. Why do we persist in thinking that criminal daddies make adequate caregivers? Utter stupidity....

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

Shaken baby's father showed 'lack of remorse'

A County Londonderry man who blinded his four-month-old son by shaking him has shown a lack of remorse for the attack which left the child with "catastrophic injuries".

Robert John Anderson's son, who cannot be named, was left blind, brain damaged, unable to speak and with multiple disability and mobility problems.

Anderson, 27, was convicted by a jury at Londonderry Crown Court earlier this year after a seven week trial during what is believed to be one of the first convictions of its kind in Northern Ireland.

He was also found guilty of cruelty by neglect and on Wednesday a hearing took place to determine what sentence Anderson should serve.

Prosecution lawyer Mr Charles McKay QC said Anderson's lack of remorse was one of a number of aggravating features which should be taken into account by Judge Philip Babington in determining the appropriate sentence.

He said Anderson had abused his position of trust as the baby's father and carer.
Mr McKay also said Anderson had a criminal record for drugs offences, criminal damage and disorderly behaviour.

He said that although the accused had told a social worker he did not mean the child any harm, he still did not accept he was responsible for his son's injuries which had also left him confined to a wheelchair.

A doctor said he did not believe Anderson posed a significant danger in the future if he avoided contact with children.

Anderson's lawyer Mr Billy McCrory QC said the accused had no history of ill-treatment, abuse or cruelty and he said Anderson did express concerns for his son.

"This is not a case of a man who acted with intent to cruelly inflict serious and catastrophic injuries." he said, adding it wasn't a frenzied and mad attack which happened on 16 December 2008 when Anderson was looking after the baby who started to cry.

The lawyer said Anderson had a deep love and affection for his son and Mr McCrory added that the circumstances of his contact with the boy in the future would be subject to considerable control which he said was going to cause Anderson pain and anguish.

He went on: "One cannot help but feel the pain which has emerged here. I would ask the court to have compassion for a man who undoubtedly wishes this state of affairs had never come about."

Judge Babington, was sitting in Belfast, said he wanted to reflect on the submissions and would sentence Anderson in Londonderry Crown Court on June 28.

Dad who killed 14-week-old son shows no remorse, court told (Belfast, Northern Ireland)

We've posted on this case before. Despite splitting up with the mother BEFORE the baby was born and a history of domestic violence and psychological instability (suicide attempts), dad RYAN LESLIE got shared custody of his infant son. Then he promptly killed him at only 14 weeks of age. Newborns belong with their mothers. If Daddy doesn't want to stick around for the birth or to support the mother, then he needs to have his arse kicked out of the picture. ESPECIALLY when he has a history of violence and mental health issues. Babies do not benefit from joint custody or being tossed around like a hot potato from household to household.

Father who killed baby son shows no remorse, court is toldBy Sarah Rainey
Saturday, 26 March 2011

A father sentenced to life in prison for murdering his baby son has shown no remorse and refuses to admit his guilt, a court has heard.

Ryan Leslie was convicted of killing 14-week-old Cameron after the child was rushed to hospital with a head injury in September 2008.

Prosecuting barrister Ciaran Murphy QC told Belfast Crown Court that the 26-year-old “maintains that someone else may be responsible” for murdering his son.

He asked the judge to sentence Leslie, from Newtownabbey in Co Antrim, for a minimum of 15 years.

He said a probation report found the defendant, who has a record of violence against former partner Sheree Black, to be at a “high risk” of reoffending.

Miss Black, who was present at yesterday’s hearing, was visibly distressed as she watched Leslie smile and wink at his family from the dock.

“This was a defenceless baby,” Mr Murphy told the judge.

“We suggest that there were attempts to cover up the murder by saying that the fractured ribs were caused by doing CPR when it is known now that they were not. There is also a lack of remorse from the defendant.

“We suggest that these factors are directed towards there being no mitigation whatsoever.”

At the end of his trial last month, a jury unanimously found Leslie guilty of murdering Cameron and causing him grievous bodily harm with intent.

The court heard how the baby was rushed to Antrim Area Hospital and later died in Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital after a head injury caused his brain to swell.

He also had severe injuries to several parts of his body, with 14 fractured ribs and bruises on his legs, torso, throat and chin.

It was revealed that Leslie had tried to kill himself shortly before taking custody of Cameron.

He was looking after the baby in the days before his death.

Mr Justice Stephens remanded Leslie in custody and said he would set the minimum tariff for his jail sentence next week after considering all the evidence.

Background

Ryan Leslie was unanimously convicted of murdering his 14-week-old son Cameron Jay Leslie in September 2008. The baby died of a head injury and also suffered bruising to his legs, torso, throat and chin, as well as having 14 rib fractures. Leslie’s former partner Sheree Black said she would never forgive him for killing their son.

Dad gets life sentence for murder of 14-week-old baby (Belfast, Northern Ireland)

We've posted on this case before. Life sentences for fathers killing children are pretty rare in this part of the world. Nevertheless, that's what dad RYAN JOHN LESLIE got in this case. This is another case of a separated couple where Daddy got "shared" care of a newborn--with the usual horrific results.

Child killer Leslie will serve a life sentence

By Anne Madden
Thursday, 17 February 2011

A judge has told a 26-year-old father he will serve a life sentence for the brutal murder of his baby son, Cameron Jay Leslie, who died after suffering a severe blow to his head.

There were shouts, claps and loud cheers at Belfast Crown Court yesterday as Ryan John Leslie, from Ballyvesey Green in New Mossley, Newtownabbey, was found guilty of murdering his 14-week-old baby in September 2008.

The jury took nearly four hours to reach a unanimous verdict on the two charges against Leslie. They found him guilty of murder and grievous bodily harm with intent after a trial which ran for nearly six weeks. Grim-faced Leslie shook his head from side to side as the forewoman read out the guilty verdicts.

Dressed in a dark suit, tie and shirt, Leslie nodded as Mr Justice Stephens addressed him.

“Your defence involved the proposition that you were a victim, wrongly accused, and also a grieving father who deserved sympathy,” the judge said. “The truth is you brutalised and murdered a 14-week-old baby — your son — and for that I sentence you to life imprisonment.”

The public gallery erupted again with cheers and claps from relatives and friends of the baby’s mother, Sheree Black.

Security personnel intervened to prevent a scuffle between Leslie’s family and Ms Black’s family. One of Leslie’s brother’s shouted angrily and stormed out of the gallery.

Leslie’s parents and sister broke down in tears.

The accused turned round in the dock to look at his parents and shook his head from side to side again before he was led away.

During the trial the court heard that Cameron was admitted first to Antrim Area Hospital on September 4, 2008, and then transferred to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, where he died two days later as a result of a severe head injury.

A post-mortem examination found Cameron had also suffered a total of 14 rib fractures and had bruising over many parts of his body.

Pre-sentence reports were requested and Leslie is due to appear in court on March 18 for formal sentencing

Dad on trial for murdering 14-week-old son; was separated from baby's mom and had "sole care" when injuries inflicted (Belfast, Northern Ireland)

Dad RYAN LESLIE was "separated" from this baby's mother--and yet managed to get some sort of custody/visitation anyway. And it was during the times that Daddy had "sole care" that the baby mysteriously came up with all these injuries that ultimately proved fatal.

Check this carefully. The couple had separated only a month before the baby's death. Meaning that this mother either left him in her final month of pregnancy--or Daddy deserted her. The last thing a mom on the verge of labor wants is more uproar in her life, so I'm guessing she would have not left this guy without very good reason (domestic violence?). On the other hand, if he had dumped her right before childbirth, that is the sign of a total cad. At any rate, this guy gets "sole care" time anyway! And we see the results: A fatal head injury, 14 fractured ribs, multiple bruises....

Case against murder accused dad 'overwhelming' Ryan Leslie denies murdering his 14-week-old son Cameron

A case against a father accused of murdering his baby son is "overwhelming and strong", a court heard on Monday.

Prosecuting lawyer Gary McCrudden told Belfast Crown Court that Ryan Leslie, 26 lied to police and during questioning in the witness box.

He added that one medical expert said that 14-week-old Cameron had all the signs of an abused child.

Mr Leslie from Newtownabbey denies murdering his son in September 2008.

Doctors said that the baby died as the result of a non-accidental trauma injury to the head which caused bleeding onto his brain.

Bruises were also found on his arms, legs, neck and jaw and he had 14 broken ribs.

'Jigsaw'

In his closing statement, Mr McCrudden, said that Mr Leslie, who had separated from the baby's mother a month earlier, had had sole care and control of the child at the various times the injuries were inflicted.

He told the jury of eight women and four men that after he was informed about the fractured ribs the accused claimed he had given his son CPR when he became unwell and tried to explain the head injury with a lie that Cameron had hit his head in the bath.

Mr McCrudden said the evidence against Mr Leslie, from Ballyvesey Green, was "overwhelming" and the jury were entitled to find him guilty.

But a defence lawyer suggested the was a huge void in the prosecution's evidence and that the jury have been given an "incomplete jigsaw puzzle".

At the start of his closing speech, John Orr QC, said that the accused was not the only person who had cared for Cameron in the days and hours before he was admitted to hospital.

Yet Ryan Leslie was the only person the PSNI had ever interviewed under caution, he said.

"There is a great big void", Mr Orr added.

The case continues.

Dad on trial for murdering 14-day-old son during overnight visit (Belfast, Northern Ireland)

Dad RYAN JOHN LESLIE obviously had no interest in taking care of a baby. He was suicidal and witnesses say he frequently "cursed" the infant for crying. The baby died at only 14 days of age--after Mom left him with dad for an "overnight." Once again, newborns don't need overnights with nutjob sperm donors!

Father ‘murdered baby son’

Tuesday, 11 January 2011

A father has gone on trial accused of murdering his baby son.

Belfast Crown Court heard that baby Cameron Jay Leslie was just 14 weeks old when he died in hospital, two days after being rushed from his 26-year-old father Ryan John Leslie’s flat in Ballyvesey Green, Newtownabbey.

Baby Cameron had fractured ribs and blunt force trauma to his head which caused his brain to swell.

His father, who had tried to commit suicide earlier that week, claims his son had banged his head on a plastic bath and that the broken ribs may have been caused while attempting to give him first-aid when he found him lying motionless in his cot.

But prosecuting QC Ciaran Murphy told the jury of eight women and four men that Leslie's claims did not fit the evidence, and that when they heard the evidence of all the doctors and civilians they would be “firmly convinced” of his guilt.

Leslie, who denies murder, maintained throughout 21 police interviews that he never shouted at his son, or dropped or punched him, and never lost his temper with him.

But he did admit cursing at Cameron, calling him abusive names when he cried, the court heard.

Earlier Mr Murphy claimed that the day before being rushed to hospital, a neighbour had heard the child crying for about 45 minutes and throughout Leslie had cursed and shouted at the youngster.

He said doctors had concluded from an early stage that the injuries to baby Cameron's skull were “non-accidental”, and had been caused two to three days before his life support machine was switched off.

Mr Murphy said the traumatic injuries needed to cause the fatal swelling to the brain went “beyond rough handling”.

The prosecution lawyer claimed that Leslie had been depressed and in a “fragile state” at the time.

However, Mr Murphy revealed that the child's mother, Sheree Black, who had agreed to Cameron spending an extra over-night in the care of his father, was unaware that earlier that week he had tried to hang himself.

Mr Murphy suggested that the medical evidence did not support Leslie's claims that the injuries to baby Cameron's head may have been caused by him hitting his head on the bath.

The lawyer said that at the post- mortem of baby Cameron, it was estimated the fatal brain injuries were caused not by “simple shaking”, but by violent shaking together with an impact of the head with a hard surface.

The trial continues today and is expected to last several weeks.
