Custodial dad arrested after 4-year-old son found wandering the neigbhborhood without shoes or shirt in freezing cold--and dad found drunk and passed out at home; what happened to Mom? (Georgetown, Kentucky)

Dad ANTHONY MCDOWELL has been arrested and charged with wanton endangerment--and with drug trafficking, as it appears Daddy was selling Oxy from home.

So, why does it not even occur to the media to ask why this dumb @$$ incompetent and addicted father has custody of a young child? Why does his sister now have custody and not the mother? What happened to the mother? Why didn't she have custody? And why doesn't she have it now?

So much for discrimination against fathers....

Georgetown PD: Father didn’t notice child wander into cold

Brandy Hatfield holds her four-year-old nephew Colton McDowell close knowing she's lucky to still have him.

She says their worlds changed early Sunday morning when Colton left his home without shoes or a shirt in the freezing cold.

She says he went five houses down the block and asked the neighbors where his dad was.

Police say they found his father Anthony McDowell drunk and passed out inside the home.

"There's no telling what could have happened to him. I can't imagine. If he went to anyone else's house or someone picked him up I would've lost it," she said.

After McDowell was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment of his son, police also charged him with drug trafficking.

They say he sold the prescription drug oxycodone out of the home where he lived with his son on Parkside Drive.

Now Hatfield, his sister, has custody of Colton.

When we saw him he was fine - grinning ear to ear - but she says that doesn't justify what happened.

“It's sad but it's nobody's fault but my brothers,” said Hatfield.

She hopes losing his son will help her brother turn his life around for Colton's sake.

"It's not going to be easy but the main thing he's going to have to do is straighten his life up for this little boy," she said.

McDowell was arraigned on the drug charges Thursday.

He was also in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing for the wanton endangerment case.
