Dad accused of breaking arms, fracturing skull of 3-month-old daughter (Billings, Montana)

Evidence of healing injuries suggest tht this wasn't the first time Daddy abused the baby.

Sounds like yet another "frustrated" idiot of a "caretaker" daddy who can't manage to take care of small children without bashing them.

Dad is identified as NICHOLAS LEIGH ULMER.

Prosecutors accused a Billings man on Monday of breaking his 3-month-old daughter’s arms and fracturing her skull.

Nicholas Leigh Ulmer, 23, is charged with three counts of felony assault on a minor.

Each count comes with a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $50,000 or both.

Judge Pro Tem Lance Lundvall set Ulmer’s bond at $50,000 and ordered him to appear for arraignment on Dec. 17. If he posts bond, Ulmer is not permitted to have contact with his daughter or the child's mother.

Charging documents say that a Yellowstone County sheriff’s deputy went to St. Vincent Healthcare on Thursday after learning that medical personnel were caring for a baby girl whose right arm had been broken in two places. The baby also had an older break to her left arm and an older skull fracture.

Ulmer told the deputy he had fallen while holding the infant, and that his 18-month-old child played rough with the baby and had dropped a rattle on her head, court documents state.

The deputy photographed a bruise on the baby’s left temple, a scratch on the back of her head, scratches on her neck, a possible bruise on her ribs and a splint on her arm.

In a statement to a detective on Friday, Ulmer admitted his baby’s right arm broke when he pulled her out of a swing and her arm got caught, according to charging documents. He also told the detective that he may have broken the baby’s other arm by grabbing it hard, the documents say.

Ulmer also said he yanked the baby out of a swing, hitting her head on a bar that went over the swing, the affidavit said.
