Jamaal was at his grandmother's house when his father called to set up a clandestine meeting, promising to give Jamal a cell phone. It was a set up, but Jamaal,12, could not resist. When Jamaal kept the appointment the boy saw his father wearing all black and a mask. Michael Baker, 33, drew a knife and stabbed his son 15 times.
Prosecutors claim the stabbing occurred at about 2 PM Sunday outside a house in the 16400 block of Carlisle St.
Remarkably, Jamaal survived the assault.
Now Michael Baker has been arraigned on the following charges: 1st degree child abuse, assault with intent to murder, and assault with intent to commit great bodily harm less than murder. All are heavy felonies. His bond was set at $500,000.
Motive for the attack is not clear. Baker will face a preliminary exam November 18.
