"Stay at home dad" charged with child endangerment resulting in injury (Huxley, Iowa)

"Stay at home" (translation: unemployed deadbeat) dad BENJAMIN KEITH BATES has been charged with child endangerment resulting in injury after he "allegedly" hit his son in the face before throwing him onto the bed--apparently with enough force to also break the bed.

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT: So where is Mom in all this? Working while Daddy Dearest beats up the kids? Given that there are "three other children who live with him," I'm wondering if this is a custodial unemployed deadbeat, or, er, "stay-at-home" dad.

A Huxley man who described himself as a “stay at home dad” was arrested last week for allegedly striking a child in the face.

Benjamin Keith Bates, 27, of 109 National Drive, No.301, has been charged with child endangerment resulting in injury, a class D felony, for allegedly hitting a minor child in the face before throwing him on the bed.

According to court documents, the minor child sustained injuries to his nose, right cheek, the left side of his neck and marks under both eyes.

Police say the bed was broken during the incident as well.

Bates, who has three other children living with him, is currently being held at the Story County Jail on a $5,000 bond. A preliminary hearing in the case has been set for Friday, July 9, at 1 p.m.
