Autopsy: Blow to liver killed baby

GUNNISON - One-year-old Christian Michael Wentz was killed by a hard blow that lacerated his liver and caused internal bleeding ��” an injury so deadly that he it killed him within minutes, authorities said.

The baby’s father, Edward Geavanni Cox, was charged in May with first-degree murder and child abuse. A preliminary hearing next month will determine whether there is sufficient probable cause for the case to proceed.

Christian, who died April 17, had been alone with Cox when injured, the Gunnison County Sheriff’s Office alleges in a recently released arrest affidavit.
