Custodial dad, girlfriend arrested on child abuse charges (Pasadena, California)

Once again, we have an article that obscures the fact that we have a custodial father/girlfriend household that abused these children. And we know that Daddy JOHNNY MONTERROSO must have been custodial, because the abuse was obviously ongoing and had the mother been custodial, she would have been arrested or at least charged with failure to protect. Or at minimum investigated.

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT: Notice that in addition to there being no word about the mother being investigated, there is not word one word about the mother AT ALL. If this case is typical of the many we see here at Dastardly Dads, the mother was shoved out of the picture and denied visitation. It would be so nice if the media would follow up on these things, but they seldom do.

Pasadena couple arrested on suspicion of child abuse

Four children from Pasadena are in protective custody after their father and his live-in girlfriend were arrested on suspicion of child abuse Thursday night.

There were four children involved, one 9-year-old girl, and three boys, 11, 12, and 15, said Lt. Chris Russ with the Pasadena Police Department. An investigation began Thursday at 7:21 p.m. after a friend of the children told family members, who then called the police, Russ said. An arrest was made shortly after in the 800 block of North Madison Avenue in Pasadena, Russ said.
The children had visible bruising and injuries when police arrived, and the girl was taken to the hospital for possible internal bleeding, Russ said. The 11-year-old boy suffered from burns after his hand was held over the flame of a lighter, Russ said. The children were hit with belts and shoes on a regular basis, Russ said.

The father, Johnny Monterroso, 44, and his girlfriend, Celia Chavez, 23, were arrested on suspicion of child abuse after the children were taken into protective custody.
