Dad found guilty in shaken baby death; 6-month-old son died after being thrown to the floor (Denver, Colorado)

Dad JUSTIN MICHAEL TAYLOR has been found guilty of child abuse resulting in death. His 6-month-old son died after being thrown to the floor and suffering a fatal head injury.

Note that there was a restraining order forbidding Daddy from having any contact with the baby, and that Daddy was already on felony probation for a menacing conviction at the time of the baby's death. So who filed the restraining order (the mother?) and how did this dad get access? Apparently the baby's 18-month-old sister was around at the same time, since Daddy initially blamed her for the baby's injuries (so nice of Daddy). None of this is clarified here at all.

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT: And where is the mom is all this? No clue. It would be so nice if reporters could include all the basic information is these stories. But they seldom do.

Hat tip to S.

DENVER -- A 23-year-old man has been found guilty of child abuse resulting in death for the 2009 death of his six-month-old son.

Justin Michael Taylor was arrested in February 2009 after his son, Julian Adams-Lacas died of a severe head injury.

Taylor initially blamed the victim's 18-month-old sister for the injuries, claiming she had run into her brother and dropped a book on his head.

Under questioning, Taylor later claimed he dropped his son. He eventually admitted to throwing the infant to the ground.

Prosecutors, Sharon Holbrook and Jess Redman, presented medical evidence that the infant sustained retinal, neck and chest hemorrhage and subdural hemorrhage with edema, indicating that Julian’s injuries were caused by shaking, or shaking and impact.

At the time, there was a restraining order in place forbidding Taylor from having contact with the child.

Taylor was on felony probation for a 2007 menacing conviction at the time of his son's death and faces 16 to 48 years in prison, as a result.

He'll be sentenced on Aug. 11.
