Custodial dad murders 2-year-old daughter after mom tries to get custody back (Taipei, Taiwan)

It's the same pattern whether you're in Taiwan or Tallahassee. Violent fathers like HU YONG-CHENG whose sole motivation in pursuing child custody is to punish/control the mother through her children. This @$$wipe obviously had no real love or care for this child at all. She was just collateral damage to him in his efforts to hurt her mother. As soon as the mother tried to challenge Daddy's "authority" by reversing the custody arrangements, Daddy cooly and systematically smothered his 2-year-old daughter, strangled and drowned her (just to make sure she was dead), then set her body on fire.

Divorced man murders daughter, burns body

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- An unemployed divorced man in Taipei County was charged Wednesday for smothering his 2-year-old daughter and then setting her body on fire. Hu Yong-cheng, 48, told the authorities that he killed his daughter in a murder-suicide attempt after a quarrel with his ex-wife over the girl's custody a few days ago.

According to Hu, he smothered his daughter early yesterday inside his home in Linkou Township by first covering her mouth and nose with a towel. After the girl lost consciousness, he strangled her and then smothered her again with a quilt. All the while he kept checking her heart beat to make sure that she had died.

He then submerged his daughter's body completely into a tub full of water for about five minutes, Hu placed her body on the bedroom floor, set it on fire with a pile of tissue paper and flammable clothing as kindling, he said. While her body was burning, Hu began to wail and turned on the gas in order to kill himself.

Yet the commotion had alerted Hu's neighbors. Police officers arrived at the scene forced in his home after Hu refused to let the authorities in and said he would die with his daughter. The police arrested him, rushed the severely burned little girl who showed no vital signs to a hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The prosecutors put Hu under custody and charged him for manslaughter.

According to the police, the victim was the daughter to Hu and Juan Chin-feng, a 27-year-old woman of Vietnamese origin. Juan divorced him February after a nine-year marriage because of longtime verbal domestic violence, which worsened after Hu lost his job two years ago due to a minor stoke.

Juan reportedly agreed to waive her custody rights to the child and retracted a domestic violence report against Hu in order to get his nod to divorce.

Juan visited the girl last Sunday and told Hu that she wanted to have her daughter back. Hu refused and an argument ensued. Hu apparently became “mentally unstable” after that, the police said. The father and daughter were not seen publicly after Tuesday afternoon when Hu took the girl out for a bicycle ride in the courtyard in his neighborhood.
