Man jailed 12 years for torturing infant daughter

The canton of Zurich's high court sentenced a 28-year-old man to 12 years in jail for brutally torturing his infant daughter because he was convinced he was not the child’s father.
The decision marked a third, more severe sentencing of the man, convicted for an offence dating back to February 2009.
Doubting he was the biological father of his partner’s child, he took his anger out on the three-week old tot in a fit of jealousy, the SDA news agency reported.
When his partner was away from the home, he intentionally gave the baby scalding hot milk, which burned her mouth.
When the tot screamed he mauled her to the point where several ribs broke and grabbed arms so hard that he fractured her bones, SDA reported.
He once strangled the child until it went blue, according to the evidence.
It was only a happy circumstance that the girl (who is now four and a half) did not die, according to Switzerland’s supreme court.
The man was sentenced in February 2012 to 11 years in jail for attempted murder following an appeal of an earlier decision for an eight-year term.
But the country’s top court in March ordered a new sentencing in the case, arguing that the charge should be attempted premeditated murder.

Dad is identified only as ISSAM (which is not his real name) even though he's been convicted. Why is his identity still being protected? As usual, the mother's concerns about a possible abduction were dismissed as "hysterical" by the authorities who are oh-so-sensitive to multicultural shlock, but not old-fashioned misogyny, It's not like we ever hear about children taken to the mideast by their Muslim fathers from their western moms--NEVER HAPPENS. Now sip some more kool-aid, and we'll try that again--with more conviction.

A 34-year-old father of two has been sentenced to eight years in prison after he kidnapped his six and seven-year-old sons, took them to Tunisia, and told their mother to pay him 170,000 francs ($182,000) if she wanted to get her children back.
Janine Schoch, 30, said she had told Swiss authorities on several occasions that she was afraid her husband Issam would follow up on threats to kidnap her children, newspaper Blick reports.
“I did everything in my power to prevent the abduction,” she told Blick. “I reported it to child protection authorities, but they thought I was a hysterical woman who wanted to discriminate against a poor foreigner."
But Schoch, who lives in Winterthur, near Zurich, had her worst fears realized on August 22nd 2010, when Issam [not his real name] took the children and flew them to his home country.
Eight days after the kidnapping, Schoch received an e-mail from Issam. He said she would be permitted to move in with him and be with her children again if she agreed to send him 170,000 francs.
“It was as if he wanted to sell me my own children,” she said.
In October 2010, Issam was arrested during a trip to Morocco and extradited to Switzerland.
"I could not continue living in Switzerland,” the 34-year-old Tunisian told the judge. “I was treated like a dirty dog by my wife, her family, and the migration authorities,” he explained, adding he was not serious about the money he requested. “I am a decent person,” Issam added.
On Thursday, he was jailed by a Wintherthur court on charges of kidnapping, attempted extortion and issuing threats.
Although Issam is already in prison, Schoch has not yet been able to recover her two sons, who live with their grandparents in the Tunisian city of Jendouba. They have custody of the children following a verdict from a Tunisian court.
Still Schoch feels confident that she will soon have her sons back with her in Switzerland.
"When the judge announced the verdict, I felt the children very close to me. I realized it was a reality that I have a chance to get them back,” she told Blick.
Schoch met her husband in 2002 in Turkey, where they both worked as children’s entertainers.
The couple married and move to Frauenfeld, where their first son was born in 2004. A year later, their second child came.
“Then it all started,” Schoch recounted. Her husband began to pray, went to the mosque every Friday and removed his gold wedding ring. He insisted on her adhering to Islamic customs, but she refused.
Schoch said she initiated a separation after he started teaching his children to spit at Christian churches and the Swiss cross.
She hasn't seen her children in a year and a half.

Dad confesses to killing 6-year-old twin daughters (Geneva, Switzerland)
What a sick bastard. Dad MATTHIAS KASPAR SCHEPP wrote a letter to his "estranged" wife saying he had killed their 6-year-old twin daughters. Got to punish mom for leaving his sorry @$$, you know. Got to maintain total control, even if people have to die. And here's part of the proof. The bastard wouldn't even tell the mother where he left the bodies.
And as typical, Daddy's family of origin is busy praising what a "good guy" he is. "Loving and caring father?" Don't make me puke.

AP GENEVA - The father of the missing Swiss twins wrote a letter to his estranged wife saying he had killed them and intended to kill himself, Swiss police said Friday.
Matthias Kaspar Schepp wrote in a Feb. 3 letter from Italy that 6-year-olds Alessia and Livia were dead and he would now kill himself, and his body was found later that day, police from the Swiss canton (state) of Vaud said.
Police say Schepp threw himself under a train in the southern Italian city of Cerignola. His letter did not say when or where he killed his children. The girls were reported missing by their mother Jan. 30, when her husband didn't return them.
"The father declared he had killed his two daughters and he was in Cerignola where he was going to kill himself," police spokesman Jean-Christophe Sauterel said.
Schepp, 43, had used his work computer to trawl the Internet for information on firearms, poisons and suicide.
On Corsica, investigators were searching the city of Propriano, where the ferry arrived from Marseille, the towns of Macinaggio and Calvi and spots where the family had vacationed together in happier times. They were flying over in helicopters, checking hotels and camping spots and interviewing people, the Ajaccio gendarmes' office said, but had turned up nothing so far.
In Marseille, police have been probing pharmacies to find out whether Schepp may have bought medications such as sleeping pills for use on his daughters, the prosecutor's office said. Police checks on about 30 hotels turned up no sign of Schepp or his daughters.
Roberto Mestichelli, a cousin of Irina Lucidi, the twins' mother, said the family was devastated.
"There was never a thread of hope. There is no hope" of finding the girls alive, he told The Associated Press.
Swiss police said Friday that Schepp sent eight letters postmarked from Bari, Italy, to his wife in Switzerland. Seven contained euro4,400 ($6,000) in euro50 notes. In the eighth letter, he said he killed the girls and would kill himself.
Italian police also found two more envelopes containing euro1,500 ($2,000) that Schepp tried to mail to his wife but put in unused mailboxes.
French newspaper Le Parisien said Schepp's deadly plan was also contained in a will he left in his home in Saint-Sulpice, an affluent lakefront community in Lausanne, Switzerland. Swiss police said he wrote the will on Jan. 27.
Swiss news agency SDA carried a statement Friday from Schepp's family saying he must have suffered a breakdown. The family in Ettingen, Switzerland, near Basel, described Schepp as a loving and caring father whose family meant everything to him.
"We are united in the certainty that our son and brother could only have committed such terrible acts if he suffered a serious emotional breakdown," the family said.
And as typical, Daddy's family of origin is busy praising what a "good guy" he is. "Loving and caring father?" Don't make me puke.

Dad who abducted 6-year-old twins commits suicide; children still missing (Switzerland)
Studies have shown that fathers generally do not kidnap their children because they want to protect them or want "parenting time." The primary reason has always been to punish the mother (for whatever "crimes" the father has convicted her) and/or to force the mother to return to him. This is obviously the case here with dad MATTHIAS SCHEPP, who claimed he "could not live" without his estranged wife, and then threw himself under a train and killed himself. I truly fear for the fate of these children....

An extensive search is underway in Puglia involving French, Italian and Swiss police.
Rescue workers are investigating wells and water tanks as well as searching the area by air.
On Saturday, residents of St Sulpice, from where the girls were taken, staged a walk around the town in a show of support.
