A grand jury has indicted a Malden man in connection with the death of his infant son in March.
The Middlesex District Attorney's office announced that Geoffrey Wilson, 31, was indicted yesterday on charges of first degree murder.
Wilson, a senior contracts and intellectual property manager for the MIT Media Lab, was arrested in March in the death Sunday of his only son, Nathan Wilson. The child, police say, was the victim of shaken baby syndrome.
In March, Middlesex Assistant District Attorney Marcy Jackson said that Wilson's wife, Dilkushi Wilson, fed their child in the family home and then left for church. The child was cranky and restless, Jackson said, and in order to calm him, Wilson allegedly simulated a bumpy car trip, lifting the child above his head and then lowering the child down.
When Dilkushi Wilson returned home, she checked on her son and noticed that his lips were blue, and that he was not responding to her, Jackson said. The mother told her husband that she wanted to call 911, and get emergency medical help, Jackson said.
"When she came back this 6-month-old baby was lifeless,'' Jackson said.
But Jackson said Wilson refused and ordered his wife to first call the pediatrician. When the doctor's office did not answer, Wilson then decided to drive the 10 miles into Boston and to the emergency room at Children's, according to the prosecution.
According to the District Attorney's office, Wilson will be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn on June 24 at 9 a.m.
“We allege that the defendant’s violent actions caused the death of his helpless, infant son,” District Attorney Gerry Leone said. “This office speaks on behalf of victims without voices, including our most vulnerable victims, children, and we will continue to fight for justice on their behalf.”
