Dad charged with leaving son at motel (Indianapolis, Indiana)

What's up with UNNAMED DAD? Why did he have this little boy in his possession, and why did he leave him unattended at a motel for hours on end? Oh wait, it was so he could go drink and party without having some pesky kid along. Note that this @$$wipe of a father started "yelling and threatening" when the police arrested him too.

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT: No mention of a mother at all. Is this a custody/visitation issue? Just a little father-son bonding time vacation? What?

Weirdly enough, there was recently a Canadian case that was just like this one.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis father was arrested Wednesday morning at a Dollar Inn Hotel located on West Washington Street after police allege he left his 9-year-old son alone in an unattended hotel room for several hours.

IMPD officers were dispatched to the hotel early Wednesday morning following a report of trouble with an unattended child. Police spoke with a female witness who says that the child came to her room around 7:30 p.m. after waking up and realizing that his father, 37-year-old Steven Levoy, wasn’t around. She also says that this was the second day in a row that the boy had been left alone for several hours.

When police spoke to the boy’s father, they immediately noticed he had slurred speech and a strong alcoholic odor emanating from him. At that time police discerned that Mr. Levoy had left his son behind to get drunk with residents in another room. Police say that after asking the boy how long he had been left alone he stated, “Like, 6 hours.”

Levoy now faces a felony charge for neglect of a dependent as well as misdemeanor charges for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. The latter misdemeanor was added after Levoy began yelling and threatening officers after he was placed in handcuffs.
