Dad arrested for sexually abusing daughter during visitation (Murrieta, California)

Dad ROSS BOWLIN has been arrested for sexually abusing his daughter during his weekly visitation. Daddy has been on (paid?) administrative leave since November 2009. Why?

I can't help wonder if there were earlier allegations of abuse that were ignored or covered up when Daddy Dearest got his visitation. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

A Cypress police officer is behind bars, accused of molesting his young daughter during their weekly visitations, authorities said.

Ross Bowlin, 27, of Murrieta was arrested and charged Wednesday with oral copulation of a child after his daughter told detectives of the abuse, according to Sgt. Jim Ganley of the Murrieta Police Department. Bowlin has been on administrative leave since November 2009 on an unrelated matter, Ganley said.

The investigation began May 27 when the Orange County Sheriff's Department contacted Murrieta police to tell them of the report of sexual abuse occurring in Murrieta involving Bowlin and his daughter.

On Wednesday, Murrieta police served a search warrant at Bowlin's home in the 23000 block of Cork Oak and arrested Bowlin, Ganley said.

Bowlin was cooperating with authorities but has denied the accusations, Ganley said. The alleged victim is under the age of 10.

The investigation is continuing. Bowlin was booked at the Riverside County Southwest Detention Facility on $1 million bail.

In 2007, Bowlin was awarded the Cypress Recovery Officer of the Year award by the Orange County Auto Theft Advisory Committee for helping track down stolen vehicles.

In an August 2009 news release by the Cypress Police Department, Bowlin was lauded as a hero for helping a woman deliver a baby girl. The release identified Bowlin was the father of two with another one on the way.

Cypress police referred all questions regarding Bowlin and the investigation to the Murrieta Police Department.
