Dad sentenced in shaking death of 4-month-old daughter (Wichita, Kansas)

Yet another case of a "caretaking" dad (unemployed loser) who killed his infant child while Mom was at work supporting his lazy @$$. This time the daddy is NOE BARRON. Evidence suggests that Daddy Dearest had previously abused the baby as well. Makes me furious, because there are so many moms who would love the option to stay home with their babies, but just can't--not if they want to keep the children fed, clothed, and sheltered. For all her efforts to keep a roof over her family, Mom temporarily lost custody of her other children because of this idiot, too.

Father sentenced in shaking death of 4-month-old daughter

A 22-year-old man received a sentence of more than 16 years in prison Friday for the death of his baby daughter.

Sedgwick County District Judge J. Patrick Walters sentenced Noe Barron to 195 months for shaking his 4-month old to death.

Victoria Barron died Oct. 17, 2008, at a Wichita hospital from shaken baby syndrome, police said. She also had broken bones in various stages of healing.

More than a year later, Barron pleaded no contest to second-degree intentional murder. He had been charged originally with first-degree murder. A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt, but the defendant does not dispute the charges.

The result is the same as a guilty plea: a conviction.

Wichita police said the baby was taken to the hospital Oct. 10, 2008, after her father called her mother at work and said the child wasn't breathing.

The mother, then 19, called 911 as she rushed to their home in the 300 block of West 21st Street. Two other children, 1 and 3, were taken into protective custody but later were released to the mother's custody.
