Seems Daddy Dearest got "full custody" of these boys in 2006, though the mother had been attempting to get "joint custody" at the time of her son's murder. Go to the link below for a video of the mother talking about her son's death.

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. -- A man accused of beating his 7-year-old son to death with a mop handle is expected to enter a plea Thursday afternoon.

James Dickerson Jr., 40, is charged with homicide by child abuse.

Investigators said Dickerson beat his son, Jeremy, to death in October 2008.

Deputies said the beating happened at the home West Church Road off Highway 88 where Dickerson lived with his sons, Jeremy and 5-year-old Justin.

EMS found the 7-year-old dead in his father's bedroom.

Investigators said that Dickerson had also hit his younger son with the mop handle, but he was not seriously injured.

Prior to the plea being entered Thursday, Assistant Solicitor Catherine Huey recapped the case. The report she read said that Jeremy was beaten badly from head to toe and his injuries were consistent with being hit by a car going 35 mph.

The report also said Dickerson told deputies he swung the mop like a baseball bat and hit Jeremy 13 or 14 times.

The boys' mother was in the process of seeking joint custody at the time of Jeremy’s death.
