An Apapa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday remanded a 49-year-old businessman, Wale Akinusi, in prison custody for allegedly defiling is 17-year-old daughter.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, did not take the plea of the accused, and ordered that he be kept in prison custody pending the advice of the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Akinusi, who resides at Ojo Igbede Road, Ajangbadi, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of unlawful defilement and killing of an unborn child.

Earlier, the prosecutor, SP Soji Ojaokomo, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 2, 2012 at their residence.

He said that the accused, forcefully had carnal knowledge of his daughter without her consent and unlawfully killed her unborn child.

“When Akinusi noticed that his daughter was pregnant, he took her to the hospital to abort the unborn child.

“After she aborted the unborn child, the accused started having carnal knowledge of her again.

“The complainant decided to ask for help when she reported the case to the police, who immediately arrested the accused,’’ Ojaokomo stated.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 137 and 234 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 137 stipulates life imprisonment for convicted offenders, while Section 234 also prescribes life imprisonment for unlawful killing of an unborn child.

The case was adjourned to Feb. 20 for mention.

HUNTINGTON, WVa. (WSAZ) -- A new seven-count indictment has been handed down against a Cabell County couple, accused of forcing their 11-year-old to have an abortion. Michael and Amanda Adkins, of Ona, are at the center of this investigation.

The grand jury has charged Michael Adkins with sexual assault, incest, and sexual abuse.

The victim's step-mother, Amanda, is facing obstruction charges and the intimidation of a witness.

"This has been an injustice," says Corporal Marleen Moore with the WV State Police Crimes Against Children's Unit. "Now it's time for her dad and step mom to pay for the injustices and indignities and the crimes they committed against this child."

The Adkins were first arrested, in March of 2013. The alleged sexual assault occurred sometime between October of 2010 and February of 2011.

The case stems around the 11 year old's abortion. Investigators say it was result of the sexual assault and incest committed by the victim's father.

"Her step mom snuck her off and got an abortion and neglected to tell anybody." says Corporal Moore. "She made statements telling everyone it was a miscarriage. The Adkins' made threats against their daughter, telling her not to tell."

The Adkins had no comment, in front of WSAZ's cameras as they left the courtroom, late Thursday morning.

They remain free, on the original $20,000 bond, posted.

They're scheduled to appear back in court, on April 21st.

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Parents, who were originally charged last year in connection with a child abuse case in Cabell County, are expected to be in court Wednesday to answer to new charges.

West Virginia State Police say Michael and Amanda Adkins will answer an indictment related to incest and child abuse charges.

These are additional charges, following a year-long investigation from when the couple was first arrested.

They were arrested in March 2013 after State Police say they consented to two abortion-like procedures within 15 days for their 11-year-old daughter.

They were originally charged with child neglect causing the risk of injury.

At this time, the indictment remains sealed. More details surrounding the new charges are expected to be released Wednesday.

Man impregnates daughter three times, says he did not know it is an abomination

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, one Augustine Obodeke, for repeatedly sleeping with his 17-year-old daughter (Favour), impregnating her three times.

Sunday Sun reports that the bubble finally burst, when the daughter became pregnant the third time and was unwilling to go for abortion.

According to a police report, the girl had cried out to neighbours, who then presented the case to the Ugbowo Police Station in Benin City.

Acting on the recount, the police arrested Obodeke and has since detained him.

Narrating her ordeal, Favour said her father started having sexual intercourse with her after the death of her mother.

“He first impregnated me and we went for abortion. My father impregnated me the second time and I went for another abortion. He had arranged a doctor at Uselu who has been doing the abortion.

“My father impregnated me the third time and told me that we should go for another abortion but I ran out of the house. He then threatened to deal with me if I told anybody what has been happening between us.

“I have to cry out early in the morning which prompted our neighbours to intervene. Since my mother was late, anytime my father requested for sex, I felt I had no choice than to allow him have sex with me”, Favour explained.

In his own account, Obodeke accepted that he had been sleeping with his daughter and had impregnated her thrice.

He, however, attributed it to the death of his wife and his inability to remarry.

“It is true that I have been having sex with my own daughter. When she became pregnant the first time, I took her to one of my doctors at Uselu Quarters who terminated the pregnancy.

“I impregnated her the second time and I took her to the same doctor who terminated the pregnancy again. It was when I impregnated her the third time that she refused to follow me to the doctor for the abortion.

“I decided to be having sex with my daughter because my wife is late and I have not remarried. I decided to enjoy my own daughter by having sex with her.

“I want my daughter to forgive me because I have sinned against her. Nobody told me that what I was doing to my daughter was an abomination. I thought I was enjoying the sex with my daughter”, he said.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo, said the man was arrested on November 22, 2013.

He further explained that the doctor who terminated the first pregnancies was still at large, assuring that the suspect would soon be charged to court.

Mahila court finds father guilty of raping daughter

COIMBATORE: The father of a 23-year-old girl was found guilty of sexually abusing her for four years after she turned 17 and making her pregnant. Though the girl had changed her testimony during the trial, the mahila court here found him guilty on the basis of medical evidence. The sentence will be pronounced on January 28.

Mahila court judge M P Subramanian found the 51-year-old accused, R Palanisamy (then 45) guilty of raping his daughter. When asked by the judge about the quantum of sentence to be awarded, Palanisamy pleaded that he was innocent of the charges leveled against him. His daughter had got married and she was living happily with her family.

Judge Subramanian ordered that since the charges have been proved, the accused should be kept in judicial custody till January 28. Palanisamy was sent to Coimbatore Central Prison.

The victim was not present in the court when the judgment was delivered. However, P Kalamani, 50, the victim's mother and P Sakthivel, 21, the victim's younger brother, were present in the court. The victim had lodged a complaint of rape with Ramanathapuram police station on June 30, 2009, and an FIR was registered against Palanisamy under section 376 (rape) and 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code the same day. The victim, her mother and her younger brother were listed as witnesses. But all three turned hostile when the case came to the mahila court for trial in June 2012. However, medical evidence proved the girl was indeed subjected to rape and sexually abused. 

According to Ramanathapuram police, Palanisamy and Kalamani were living in Krishnan Temple Street in Ramanathapuram with their two children. Palanisamy, an alcoholic, drove an auto rickshaw while Kalamani worked in a lathe workshop in shifts. The victim was studying in Class 12 while her brother was a Class 10 student.

In March 2006, a drunken Palanisamy threatened his son to leave the house and raped the girl. The victim took refuge in her aunt's house. Later, she told her mother about the ordeal, but Palanisamy threatened Kalamani to keep quiet. Two weeks later, the girl was raped again. On November 2, 2007, she was diagnosed as six months pregnant. The fetus was aborted.

A month later, Palanisamy raped her again and threatened to murder the entire family if she told anyone about the incident. Unable to bear the torture, the girl lodged a complaint with Ramanathapuram police station. Based on the complaint the police registered the case.

It appears that the daughter's mother was underage as well, and lost custody of the baby (when the baby was two) to the paternal grandmother.  When the daughter was 12, dad WALE AKINUSI gained custody, with the rapes beginning almost immediately.

Notice that his wife had also left him (the stepmother, presumably). So once again, a girl is sexually abused once there is not a mother or mother figure in the home.

The Human Right department of Ilemba Hausa Police Division, in Ojo area of Lagos has arrested a 49- year-old man who allegedly had been having carnal knowledge of his teenaged daughter for five years.

It was discovered during investigation that his daughter Janet(not real name)got pregnant in the process twice, only for her father to allegedly abort the pregnancy with the aid of a herbalist.

Sitting at a corner in the Human Rights Office, 17-year-old Janet could not raise her head to face her father, Wale Akinusi, who was also there. When approached, she simply stated that at last, she had been freed from the psychological trauma associated with her father’s sacrilegious act. Crime Alert gathered that Janet’s tale of woe started after her mother abandoned her barely when she was two-year-old for her paternal grandmother.

It was gathered that her mother who was then a Junior Secondary 3 student, was impregnated by Wale who was 32 years old. Initially, he reportedly denied paternity of the pregnancy but later opted for an abortion on the ground that he could not afford to father a child then because he was only an apprentice.

But his mother came to the rescue as she offered to take care of the baby who turned out to be Janet.

But when she was 12, her father, reportedly took her from her grandmother, with a promise to give her a better education.

Rather than live up to his promise, her father, allegedly use her to satisfy his sexual urge, a practice that went on until he was arrested.

Narrating how it all started, Janet in her sitting position with her head bowed all through, said: “When I was leaving my grandmother’s house, I was happy because my father said I would be attending a better school. But I waited for months without being enrolled in any school.

“One night, then, I was 12, my dad called me into his room and told me he took an oat with my mother to be the first man to have sex with me. He said it had a spiritual connotation and that it was to enable him assume his proper financial state.

“Then, I was too young to understand what he meant. He had carnal knowledge of me that night. At a point, he asked if it was painful. All I did was to watch him have his way, still unable to understand what he was doing.”

First pregnancy aborted by a herbalist

“It continued until I was 14 years. Then, I started having a funny feeling. I told him I was sick and when we conducted a pregnancy test, it was positive. Next day, he told me we were going somewhere and we ended up in the home of a herbalist in Ikorodu, who gave me some concoction. I drank some in his apartment and took the rest home. After two days, my menstruation started and my father assured me all was well.

He only gave me a week’s break before he continued all over again. Two years later, when I was 16 years, I got sick again. When I informed daddy, we went for another pregnancy test which confirmed my fear; I was pregnant again!

When he returned next day from his shop, he told me there was no need to go to the herbalist. Rather he gave me two sachets of Alabukun and squeezed some lime juice into a cup, asking me to take it in a gulp. It did the magic and the menstrual flow started few days later.”

“After the second abortion, I became tired of the whole thing. I started being afraid every night. At times, I would put tissue paper under my panties , pretending I was witnessing my monthly flow. After a while, he got the trick, for he started taking note of the date.

Challenges father

“I summoned courage and reported the sacrilegious act to our neighbors. But none of them could confront him. Rather they told me they could not interfere into our family affair” , she stated, with her head still bent.

Apparently discouraged by the cold reaction from the neighbors, Janet decided to take the bull by the horn. Looking straight into his father’s eyes for the very first time since the sacrilegious act started, she told her father she was tired of the whole thing. To make do her threat, she reportedly rushed to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and threatened to stab him if he attempted to force her.

“This happened on November 28, 2012. My father had come home from his shop . And at about 6pm, he called me inside to warm his bed. But when he saw the knife, he retraced his steps. I quickly ran inside my room , with the knife in my hand and packed my things out of the house, to stay with a friend whose family welcomed me after I narrated all that has been going on in the past five years.”

“After spending three weeks with them, I received a text message from my father, asking me to come home, or I would die. When I showed the text message to the family I was putting up with, they suggested I reported the case to the police. I hesitated at first because I was scared he would be jailed.

“But I changed my mind when the text message threat continued”, she said.

I did that to appease the gods – father

When approached, it was obvious that 49-year-old Wale Akinusi, a fashion designer who hails from Ondo central in Ondo state was oblivious of the legal implication of the offense, as he showed no sign of remorse.

He bluntly told this reporter that what he did was not new under the sun, adding that this would not be the first time such story would be published on the pages of newspapers.

“It is not a new thing that a man has sex with his daughter and even if I am jailed at the end, I will surely come out after serving my jail term. But I promise that my daughter will join me” he threatened, dismissing the issue with a wave of the hand.

Continuing, he said: “I went back to claim my child so as to fulfill the oat made between her mother and I. That was why I took her to the herbalist when she was pregnant, so as to appease the gods of her mother’s land. You will not understand.

“You see, when her mother was six months pregnant, we made love. She later told me that it was a taboo for a man to sleep with a pregnant woman in her place. She said the only remedy was for the man to be the first person to sleep with the child.

“I initially did not want to do it. But along the line, I discovered that things were not going on well with me financially. And when I made inquiry, I was made to understand that I had to appease the god’s of her mother’s land, so as to attain my rightful place in destiny.”

Asked why he continued after the first time, he kept mute. Also asked why he did not satisfy his sexual urge on his wife who has had four children for him, he explained that they were leaving apart.

“My wife lives in Ketu with the children while I live in Ojo. I had to live apart because I do not want my wife and children to suffer the consequences of my sin. Also I did not want my wife to know I was sleeping with my own daughter”, he said.

Meanwhile, effort according to sources at the Human Rights department, was on to arrest the herbalist who allegedly gave Janet the concoction that aborted her first pregnancy,while her father would be charged to court.

A Guatemalan man who prosecutors say impregnated his 12-year-old daughter five years ago and fled the country when Redwood City police contacted by abortion providers asked him for a DNA sample was charged with several felonies after being extradited back to San Mateo County.

The 39-year-old man, who the Daily Journal is not naming as not to identify his daughter, is charged with three counts of lewd acts on a child under 14, three counts of incest and a misdemeanor charge of destroying evidence.

Police interviewed him about his daughter’s pregnancy in December 2007 after he brought the girl to San Mateo Medical Center for an abortion. Hospital staff contacted authorities who were told by both him and the girl that a fellow 12-year-old named “Giovanni” was the father. When police asked for a genetic sample to test, the father said he wanted time to consider the request and the next day fled back to Guatemala, according to prosecutors.

The girl later told police her father had impregnated her and she had made up the story of the boy to protect him and not upset her mother. Redwood City police ultimately found the father in Guatemala and had him deported back for arrest and prosecution.

In court Thursday, the father asked for a court-appointed attorney and delayed entering a plea. He returns to court Dec. 20 to identify his lawyer and remains in custody on $1 million bail.

I see that I am far from the only one who is angry about the fawning treatment that killer dad SAM FRIEDLANDER has received in the media. The murdered mom's own father is also furious.

And yes, contrary to the police denials, Mom's family has verified that Daddy was in fact abusive. And also sexually abusive towards the daughter. No big surprise there. Why does the media give priority to killer Daddy's enabling friends and relatives first?

The grieving father of a woman bludgeoned to death by her husband - who then shot their children in their beds in a horrific murder-suicide - has lashed out at suggestions his daughter had driven him to 'snap'.

Gary Perez said his former son-in-law Sam Friedlander was abusive to his wife, Amy, demanding she abort their third child and beating her beyond recognition in the horrific killing spree.

Mr Perez also claimed Friedlander, described by his friends as an upbeat New York attorney, had taken 'inappropriate' pictures of his young daughter, who was virtually 'cut in half' by the fatal gunfire.

Police said Friedlander, 50, apparently argued with his wife, Amy, 46, at their home in the Westchester suburb of Lewisboro, before he bludgeoned her to death with a chair leg. According to State Police Major Michael Kopy, Friedlander then shot their two children - Molly, ten, and Gregory, eight - in their beds before going to the basement and killing himself.

Mr Perez told the New York Daily News: 'I can't see my daughter before she's buried because she's messed up so bad.

'And the children are cut in half. They told me not to even get clothes for them.'

Thank goodness the judge is showing some common sense and not letting dad DARIO FINKEL out on bail. Finkel is exactly the kind of criminal who needs to stay in jail, because he is precisely the type who is very likely to inflict further violent retaliation on his victims. Many homicide victims in Massachusetts and elsewhere have been killed after their abusers are let out on bail, so this is no idle speculation.

SALEM, Mass. — A Salem father accused of stuffing a baby wipe in his infant son's mouth because the child would not stop crying has been ordered held without bail.

Dario Finkel was ordered held Wednesday on charges of attempted murder, child endangerment, and assault and battery causing injury to a child.

Prosecutors say the 26-year-old Finkel also threw the 7-week-old baby to the floor and then at his wife last week.

The Salem News reports that according to court records, he threw his wife out of their apartment when he found out she was pregnant and said he would not let her back until she had an abortion or miscarried.

Finkel's lawyers asked that he be released because he has no access to the child and strong ties to the area.

Authorities in Fontana, California, last week found the body of a pregnant 17-year-old girl whose boyfriend admits killing her because she refused to have an abortion.

After a two-month search through a mountain of trash, 18-year-old boyfriend Jesus Avitia, Jr. was formally charged in the death of Anyssia Escamilla. The death was not premeditated, but it most likely took place because Avitia wanted to pursue a nursing career but was afraid a baby would interfere with those plans.

The girl's father, Jorge Escamilla, responded to the news on television station KCAL 9, saying, "I cannot wish this, not even to my worst enemy because this is a pain that will never, never go away."

The teen had been missing three months before the body was found, and volunteers had assisted in searching and in spreading the word about the missing girl. Escamilla's brother reacted upon learning that the boyfriend confessed to the crime.

"I didn't think it was him, and it hurt me when I found out it was him because he was helping us hand out flyers," he laments.

Avitia has admitted to stuffing the teenager's lifeless body in a trash container, but he claims he did not intend to kill her.

The Elliot Institute points out that incidents such as these are not uncommon as research confirms that many women face pressure to have abortions -- and that much of that coercion comes from the child's father.

Amman - A Jordanian carpenter was charged Monday with raping his teenage daughter and then killing her during a botched Caesarean section to terminate a child he had fathered with her, the Jordan Times reported.

"The suspect brought a carpet cutter, cut his daughter's stomach with it, opened her womb and took the female foetus and threw it in the garbage," police sources told the paper.

He then sewed up his daughter's stomach with thread, but could not stop her bleeding. She eventually died.

The father, who was not identified, went to a police station in the city of Zarqa, 25 kilometres east of Amman, on Sunday, claiming to have killed his 19-year-old daughter. He told officers that he had been raping his daughter since she was 15.

The forensic authorities established that the girl died of internal bleeding, while the 37-week-old foetus died as a result of the abortion.

The victim's mother knew that her daughter was being raped for years but kept quiet about it because her husband had threatened to kill her and the girl, the paper quoted the sources as saying.

The chief medical examiner at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, Momen Hadidi, told the paper that it was the first time he had come across such "a horrific story" in his 30 years as a pathologist.

Son: Dad was a woman-hater, not a martyr (Owosso, Michigan)

Dad JAMES M. POUILLON, a "pro-life activitist" who was shot to death on September 11, is no martyr, according to his son. The son says Dad didn't even care about abortion; picketing and screaming at women was something he enjoyed because he was a batterer who hated women.

Frankly, I have always been suspect of the true motives of so-called pro-life activists. The international data is absolutely very clear on what countries have the lowest abortion rates (if this is a concern for you), and it's NOT the countries where it's illegal. It's the countries where it's LEGAL, and where women have well-established rights to education and employment. It's countries with readily available birth control, established maternity leaves, and universal health care regardless of income or employment status. Women who have access to these rights and services tend not to have unwanted pregnancies, and are able to carry their pregnancies to term without being economically devastated or socially ostracized. But you don't see OUR so-called pro-life people talking about health care reform, do you? What fun is that when you can wave pictures of bloody fetuses in the faces of high school girls?
