Sentencing postposed for dad who killed mom by running her off the road; are we surprised he is in a "child custody battle"? (Louisville, Kentucky)

Daddy COREY LEE SMITH just got a nice plea deal for killing the mother of their child. He pleads guilty to vehicular homicide and child abuse in exchange for a stipulated 4-year prison sentence. Is a woman's life cheap or what? Not to mention the kids who were injured, and who are now motherless. Guess they're cheap too--at least in the eyes of the state of Kentucky.

But get this: This bastard has had the freaking nerve to file for child custody against the surviving maternal grandfather--just four months after killing the children's mother. This is the arrogance of fathers rights, foks. Doesn't matter what kind of sh** you are. You still get your kids--if you're a daddy.

Sentencing postponed for Louisville father who ran mother off roadBy Vanessa Miller, Camera Staff Writer

The sentencing of a 24-year-old Louisville man who ran a single mother of two off the road and killed her in September was postponed this morning until April 29.

Corey Lee Smith in January agreed to a deal with prosecutors that called for him to plead guilty to vehicular homicide and child abuse in exchange for a stipulated four-year prison sentence.

Smith, who appeared in court this morning with family members and friends after posting a $100,000 bond in September to leave the Boulder County Jail, was arrested after the Sept. 8 crash on Louisville's Via Appia Way that killed Jennefer Treasure, 22, the mother of one of his children.

Treasure was driving north on Via Appia just south of South Boulder Road with Smith's two small children in the car — one also was her child and one was not — when Smith pulled up beside her and veered into her path, according to police.

That caused Treasure, also of Louisville, to run off the road and roll her car 2 1/2 times, police reported. Treasure was killed in the accident, but both of the children survived and were not seriously injured.

State court records show Smith is in a child custody battle with Treasure's father, Tarey Treasure. The child custody case was filed in Boulder County District Court on Jan. 6.
