ORANGE PARK – An Orange Park man is being held in jail on $250,000 bond following his arrest on aggravated child abuse charges.
Nicholas James Polatty was arrested Friday, Aug. 6, following an investigation into how Polatty’s 5-month-old son suffered major head injuries in June, according to a Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
An investigator talked to Polatty, 28, and his wife at Wolfson’s Hospital in Jacksonville after the child, whose injuries were termed “suspicious,” was taken there on June 12, the report says. The couple was interviewed again two days later at the hospital.
Polatty again met with investigators later that same day at the Sheriff’s Office’s Orange Park substation and brought an attorney with him, the report says.
