Dad with "joint custody" plead guilty to kidnapping 3 daughters, bank fraud (Wilmington, Delaware)

Dad DAVID MATUSIEWICZ had "shared custody" of his three daughters--just like the fathers rights people advocate. But that didn't stop him from committing bank fraud and kidnapping the kids (he took them all the way to Central America). Dad has pleaded guilty to both charges.

WILMINGTON, Del. — A Delaware optometrist who fled to Central America in a motor home with his three young daughters has pleaded guilty to federal kidnapping and bank fraud charges.

Forty-two-year-old David Matusiewicz (Mah-TOO-suh-witz) pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court in Wilmington to forging his ex-wife's signature on a home-equity loan in August 2007, then fleeing the country with the cash and the couple's children.

Matusiewicz had told his ex-wife, with whom he shared custody, that he was taking the girls to Disney World for two weeks.

Matusiewicz will be sentenced Dec. 10. He faces up to 30 years on the bank fraud charge and up to three years on the charge of international parental kidnapping.
