Divorced dad gets caned, sentenced to 3 years for molesting daughter (Singapore)
Not made clear here whether UNNAMED DAD was custodial or simply had custody/visitation rights. At any rate, there was no mother in the home. And Daddy obviously had plenty of child access.

A father of three was sentenced on Tuesday to three years' jail and eight strokes of the cane for molesting his daughter.
SINGAPORE: A father of three was sentenced on Tuesday to three years' jail and eight strokes of the cane for molesting his daughter.
The 49-year-old divorcee molested the child twice in 2010; once when she was nine years old in February 2010 and once after she turned 10 in December 2010. Both offences happened in their home at Tanglin Halt Road.
A third similar charge was taken into consideration. In mitigation, the jobless man's lawyer said his client realises the gravity of the offences. The lawyer added that the accused is very angry with himself and misses his children.
However the district judge pointed out that the molest was a "perverse" and even "heinous" act. What was really appalling, the judge said, was that the victim was his biological daughter.
He said the accused had abused the trust placed in him as a father.

Depressed man kills daughter, self
By Express News Service - BANGALORE 28th April 2013 11:01 AM
It was an opportunity for 7-year-old Lakshya to spend some time with her father Arvind a day before he was to return to Singapore. The father-daughter duo were holidaying at the Bannerghatta National Park on Friday. The happy girl drew sketches of her father Arvind holding her hand. Little did she know that later that night her father would poison her before ending his own life.
Arvind (37), a senior sales executive working in Singapore, had come to meet his daughter 10 days back. His daughter Lakshya was living with her grandmother in JP Nagar 7th Phase. Arvind had lost his wife Sindhu to a kidney failure two years back and was depressed, police said.
After arriving in Bangalore, Arvind took his mother, younger brother and daughter on a vacation to Andaman Islands and returned on Wednesday.
After a day’s break, on Friday, Arvind took his daughter to the Jungle Lodges in Bannerghatta. According to the police, he checked in at 11 am and went on the safari with Lakshya, and returned around 6 pm. He called his mother at 7.30 pm and told her that they would get home late. He asked his mother not to call him again since his phone’s battery would die soon.
When he did not return home that night, his family grew suspicious. They informed the local police station. Their bodies were discovered in the morning by the resort staff. After repeated knocking on the door yielded no response, the staff called the Bannerghatta Police, who broke open the window to find Arvind hanging from the ceiling. Police found a suicide note which said, “I am sorry....Please burn all gifts my wife gave me when we were in love along with my body.”
Arvind and Sindhu’s was an inter-caste marriage. Lakshya had completed grade II. Sources close to the family said on Thursday, Arvind had called Lakshya for a movie but she had declined.

Deadbeat pervert dad jailed for filming teen daughter in the shower (Singapore)

Father jailed for filming his teenage daughter showering
ChannelNewsasia.com - 5 November 2012 6:21 PM | Updated 7:43 PM
SINGAPORE: An unemployed man was jailed five months on Monday for filming his 15-year-old daughter while she was showering.
The man, who attributed it to a "lapse of judgment", was severely berated by a judge for "causing unthinkable harm" to the girl.
The father, who cannot be named due to a gag order, was found guilty of outraging his daughter's modesty.
He was also granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal on a second charge under the Films Act.
The tall and bespectacled man, who turned up in court with his wife, remained emotionless during sentencing.
Investigations revealed that between January 2009 and March 2010, the girl was showering at home when she discovered she was being filmed.
Her father had placed a phone - on the video recording mode - in the pocket of a pair of jeans, which was hung in the toilet of his home.
His daughter discovered the phone while she was showering, and deleted the video after seeing the recording.
She later approached her school counsellor and a report was made in April 2010.
In mitigation, the man's lawyer, Mr Anand Nalachandran said that the man, who is a first time offender, "has gone through a very difficult period in the last two to three years."
He added that his client had pleaded guilty instead of contesting the charges in a trial.
Noting this, District Judge Lee Poh Choo said it was the only factor that held some mitigating weight.
However, she emphasised that the offense was "too serious, and leniency was not for parents who preyed on their young children at home".
She rebuked the man for "surreptitiously causing immense mental anguish and stress to the teenager".
She added that it was worse when the man had shifted the blame onto his daughter by calling her a "problem child".
Calling it an "absurd, ludicrous explanation", the judge pointed out that it reflected a lack of remorse.
Channel NewsAsia understood that the girl has been away from her family for a few years and is currently living at a Home.
The girl, who has two other siblings, is expected to live with her relatives eventually.

Dad films 14-year-old daughter in shower, has nerve to call HER "disobedient" (Singapore)
Oh come on. This had nothing to do with the daughter being "disobedient"--unless the perverted freak of a father is defining "disobedience" as fighting back against his sexual assaults. Why does the media even entertain his bullsh**? UNNAMED DAD is nothing but a child-porn producing molester and rapist.
Wonder if there is a mother in this home? No mention of one....

Crazy World: Angry dad makes video of daughter in shower
Father wanted to punish the 'naughty' teenager
Published Sunday, June 24, 2012
SINGAPORE: A 'naughty' teenager in Singapore was being forced to toe her father's line in a disgusting way. He had filmed her while she was taking a shower. He wanted to punish his daughter for being disobedient.
The 49-year-old father pleaded guilty for outraging the modesty of a woman. The fact that the man had about 91 obscene video files in his phone is also being taken into consideration by the judge.
The court felt that the man had taken his role as a disciplinarian in the girl's life a bit too far. Parents do find it tough to deal with their teenage children, however, this father had crossed the line, reports The New Paper.
The incident occurred when the girl was about 14-year-old and while taking a shower she noticed that her father's mobile was peeping out of her father's trousers that were hanging on the peg behind the bathroom door. The girl took a closer look at the mobile and found it in recording mode.
Needless to mention that she was horrified when she hit the play button.

Father jailed for sexually abusing 4-year-old daughter
By Elena Chong
A MAN who abused his own four-year-old daughter was jailed for 12 months on Thursday.
The 38-year-old, who had pleaded guilty to ill-treating the child in a Community Court in 2010, had rubbed her buttocks on his groin and touched her private parts in June 2009.
The court was told that the accused was at home with his two sons and the victim, when he took her to the bedroom and placed her on his lap.
He then touched her genital area and rubbed her buttocks on his groin before letting her go. He told her to keep quiet by placing his finger on his lips.
A second similar charge was taken into consideration.
The accused's wife made a police report on July 25 that year stating that her five-year-old daughter had told her that she was sexually abused by her father again. The accused could have been fined up to $4,000 and/or jailed for up to four years.

Dad gets 11 years jail for raping 7-year-old daughter (Singapore)
UNNAMED DAD has been sentenced to 11 years in jail--and 17 strokes of the cane--for raping his 7-year-old daughter. Dad blames booze. This appears to be in Singapore, but it's not entirely clear.
Notice that there is no mention of the girl's mother.

Rapist father gets 11 years jail

She was only seven years old when her father raped her.
In his defence, the 42-year-old man pleaded that he had been under the influence of alcohol at the time of his offence. He apologised and asked for a chance to "become a responsibile human being for myself and my family." He did it only once, he said.
Earlier on Tuesday, he was sentenced to 11 years jail and given 16 strokes of the cane.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Sabrina Choo disregarded intoxication as a mitigating factor. She said the rape had been committed by the very man who was supposed to protect and care for the child.
The man had previous convictions. He was last sentenced to three years and six months’ jail in October 2002 for consuming a controlled drug.

SINGAPORE - It was one of the worst cases the Court has seen, a Judge of Appeal noted twice during the hour-long hearing yesterday. Some 22 old scars and 58 external injuries were found on 23-month-old Natalie Nikie Alisyia Sallehan's body.
They came to light after her father, Sallehan Allaudin, 28, was arrested for causing her death. He had acted in a fit of rage after catching the girl playing with his cigarettes.
Yesterday, the Public Prosecutor appealed against Sallehan's six-year jail term, arguing that it was inadequate. Agreeing with the prosecutor, the Court of Appeal gave Sallehan the maximum 10-year jail term permissible under the law and ordered him to be given 10 strokes of the cane.
This was a case of a vulnerable victim who needed the law's protection, said Deputy Public Prosecutor Winston Cheng. While Sallehan stood at 1.73m tall and weighed 63kg, Nikie was barely 78cm tall and only weighed 10kg, argued the prosecutor.
On Jan 6 last year, Sallehan scolded the child for playing with his cigarettes. When she cried, he slapped her. As she wailed louder, he punched her until she bled from the nose.
Two days before she died, Nikie had also played with Sallehan's cigarettes. This led Judge of Appeal Chao Hick Tin, one of three judges presiding yesterday, to quip to Sallehan's lawyers: "One would have thought that a two-year-old child would be playful and curious. Why did he not place his cigarettes somewhere else? It looks like your client is in need of disciplining more than the child."
But Sallehan's lawyer, Mr N Kanagavijayan, argued his client was a loving father to his three daughters and gave all his $800 salary to his wife.
Justice Kan Ting Chiu pointed to the injuries suffered, which suggested an "extremely brutal" man and "doesn't gel" with the lawyer's loving portrayal of Sallehan.
Injuries were also not limited to one area which suggested the assault was sustained, said Judge of Appeal V K Rajah. "This is one of the worst cases we have seen," he added.
Describing it as "a sad, shocking and horrendous case", Justice Chao said Sallehan was supposed to protect and guide the child, but took on the role of an abuser instead. The Court had to take a serious view of such cases, he added.
As the family's two daughters were both under three years old, the Court requested the Public Prosecutor contact welfare services officers to keep tabs on the family before and after Sallehan's release. Leong Wee Keat

Dad jailed for 2 years in death of 2-month-old daughter (Singapore)
It doesn't matter where you are in the world. Unemployed "caretaking" fathers are highly at risk for abusive behavior, especially when helpless infants are involved. Whether they're in Singapore or South Carolina doesn't matter--these guys just get flipped out and "frustrated" by routine irritants like infant crying. In too many cases, the results are fatal--just as it was here with UNNAMED DAD.

Man jailed 2 years for causing baby's death
By Shaffiq Alkhatib Posted: 12 July 2010 1526 hrs
SINGAPORE: An unemployed man has been sentenced to two years' jail for causing the death of his two-month-old daughter by forcefully rocking her for about 10 to 15 minutes.
This happened on 10 June 2009 in a rented flat near Havelock Road sometime after 9pm.
The Court heard that the 30-year-old man rocked the infant "forcefully" as he was "frustrated" that she was crying and would not go to sleep.
The man's 23-year-old wife came home from work at around 7am the next day and noticed that her baby was "behaving strangely" when she tried to feed her a bottle of milk.
The baby was brought to hospital soon afterwards, and died in the Children's Intensive Care Unit of KK Hospital a week later at around 8am on June 17.
A medical report from KKH revealed that the infant suffered injuries including haemorrhage in the brain and eyes.
It stated that these were most likely caused by a condition known as the "shaken baby syndrome".
In mitigation, the man's lawyer, S Balamurugan told the court that his client "did not set out to hurt" the infant and that he "only wanted" her to fall asleep.
Mr Balamurugan added that the man has "always been" a loving father towards his children.
He resorted to carrying the infant and rocking her to sleep as he could not "afford a baby cradle swing."
The man had also rocked his older child in a similar manner on previous occasions "without any adverse consequences".
The man has another daughter who is now two years old.
Speaking to reporters after the hearing, the man's wife said that she hopes the man will "turn over a new leaf" when he is released from prison.
When queried if she has forgiven her husband, she said that it was a "very difficult question" to answer and that she has to "move on with her life".
She also asked reporters not to reveal her name as well as those of her family members.
For committing the crime, the man could have been sentenced to up to five years' jail, fined, or both. - CNA/jm

He also sexually abused the girl the following day (June 23).

For each charge of committing rape, he could have been sentenced to 20 years’ jail and fined, or caned.

Dad escapes death sentence in beating death of 1-year-old daughter; killed her for "playing with his cigarettes" (Singapore)
UNNAMED DAD really looooved his little girl, he really, really did. That's why he's getting his murder charge reduced to culpable homicide. Like the kids say, whatever.
Daddy Dearest beat a one-month-old baby to death for "playing with his cigarettes." But he didn't MEAN to kill her, you see. He just "lost control." And playing up all this sentimental nonsense about how he bought her a doll for her birthday. So what? Honestly, how stupid can people get.
Had this been a mother, she would have been tarred as Ms. Evil Incarnate.

Father escapes death sentence
He loved the girl and had no intention of killing her: Judge
by Ong Dai Lin dailin@mediacorp.com.sg Updated 01:30 PM Mar 18, 2010
SINGAPORE - A 28-year-old father, who caused his year-old daughter's death when he beat her, escaped the gallows yesterday when his murder charge was reduced to that of culpable homicide.
There was no evidence that the cleaner, who cannot be named to protect his other children, had intended to cause the death of his daughter when he beat her up, said Justice Lee Seiu Kin in his judgment.
On Jan 6 last year, the cleaner went to the supermarket with his wife to buy groceries. He also picked up a Barbie doll as a present for his daughter's second birthday. But when he got home, enraged to find his daughter playing with his cigarettes, he took her into the kitchen where he slapped and punched her on the arm and back.
His daughter then collapsed and died because one of her major veins, the inferior vena cava, ruptured. This caused blood to collect inside her heart sac, preventing it from pumping.
Justice Lee said that while there was no question that the injuries caused the girl's death, the cleaner loved the girl and did not intend to kill her when he beat her. He had walked into the flat "feeling rather pleased with himself for buying the doll and was keen to hand it" to his daughter. He lost his cool when he saw her playing with his cigarettes.
"He thought he was beating her to teach her a lesson but lost control in the heat of the moment and went well beyond what was justified," said Justice Lee.
But the judge also said that when the cleaner inflicted the injuries, "he knew or ought reasonably to know" that they were likely to cause his daughter's death. He will be sentenced at a later date.

Dad jailed for hitting son
By Elena Chong, Courts Correspondent
A MAN who slapped his year-old son and hit him on the right arm was jailed three months on Tuesday for child abuse.
The 36-year-old former packer, who cannot be named, had earlier admitted to ill-treating the boy at his home on Feb 18 last year.
The court heard that the accused's wife was trying to put the baby to bed but he refused, continuing to play and jump on the bed.
The accused, who had taken two cans of beer, tried to quieten the toddler but he continued to make a lot of noise and started crying. The father then picked up the boy and carried him to the next room, locked the door and hit him.
After several minutes, he opened the bedroom door and his wife found redness on the victim's cheeks, right hand and left eye.
The next day, she took him to a polyclinic which subsequently referred him for further examination at KK Women's and Children's Hospital in view of the serious injuries.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Toh Puay San urged Community Court Judge Ng Peng Hong to impose a jail sentence as the courts had taken a serious view of such offences on vulnerable children.
The accused could have been fined up to $4,000 and/or jailed for up to four years for the offence

Girl's doodling exposed her dad
A GIRL'S doodling in class came as a cry for help, leading to her father's offences coming to light.
The day after she was raped by her father for the second time on July 28 last year, she drew a picture of a crying girl and scribbled the words 'What should I do now!!' within a speech bubble on a piece of paper during a Chinese lesson.
She also wrote in English: 'I hate my father as he do something which I felt it disgusting. I don't know it is good to tell my mother and police about but I wish I can run away.
'But the main problem is I had no home if I run away and I don't know what can happen to me if I tell my mother and the police about it.'
The girl then folded the piece of paper and placed it on her table.
Her best friend, who sat behind her in class, asked to read the note. Initially reluctant, the girl eventually agreed and confided in her friend.
The friend said they should tell an adult and suggested the girl's mother. But the girl said her mother would definitely not believe her. The friend then suggested turning to their form teacher, but the two girls dropped the idea as he was a man.
They finally decided to go to either their ex-form teacher or the school counsellor.
As the girl had to leave school to pick up her younger brother, she left her doodlings with her friend who later found the counsellor.
The counsellor then phoned the girl and asked her to return to school, where she broke down.
The counsellor informed the principal and vice-principal and reported the matter to the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
The principal later drove the girl and the counsellor to the police station to lodge a report.

58 bruises on child's body
By Selina Lum
TODDLER Natalie Nikie Alisyia Sallehan had 58 bruises and abrasions on her head, body and limbs, a forensic pathologist told the High Court on Monday, the fifth day of her father's murder trial.
But what caused her death was a tear in a major vein that let 40ml of blood collect inside the heart sac and prevent the heart from pumping.
The 0.5-cm-long rupture found on the blood vessel was a 'life-threatening event', the pathologist who conducted the autopsy, Dr Teo Eng Swee, told the court yesterday.
The two-year-old's father, Sallehan Allaudin, 27, is accused of causing her death by kicking and stamping on her.
Also taking the stand was the paediatrician who saw Nikie in the emergency room, Dr Kao Pao Tang. Dr Kao, who had been given the autopsy finding, said that such ruptures are usually seen in cases of a fall from a height or 'high-energy, high-velocity accidents'.
Nikie was assaulted on Jan 6 at her home in Boon Lay.

"Dad" takes 2-month-old girl from women's shelter (with their permission) and kills her (Singapore, Singapore)
This story is freaking unbelievable.
SARLE STEEPAN KOKUNDU, who falsely declared he was the biological father of his girlfriend's two-month-old daughter when the birth was registered, attacks the girlfriend at work while drunk for "not telling him that she was working" and other random accusations (typical abuser/control freak stuff). He pushes the girlfriend and punches her in the head. The police are called. They apparently don't arrest this goon, they just tell him to leave (mistake #1). Mom was staying at a women's shelter called the Good Shepherd Centre at the time--apparently a shelter run by complete idiots and incompetents (mistake #2). Dad then goes to the shelter, lies, and says that the mother gave him "permission" to take the child out. AND THESE MORONS HAND OVER THE KID! NO PROOF, NO NOTHING! (mistake #3). Virtually as soon as he gets the baby out of there, the "seething" dad slaps her and "roughs her up" till she is bleeding from the mouth. A passerby notices that the baby is blue and motionless, and alerts the staff at the shelter, who call for an ambulance. Apparently these nitwits didn't notice that the man who had just picked up a baby from their shelter was literally beating the sh-- out of this kid just outside their door. (mistake #4). And this POS actually rides in the ambulance to the hospital with the baby! (mistake #5). Later that night, the baby dies from a fractured skull, and the "dad" is arrested for murder.
What good are DV shelters when they pull this crap?

Man admits killing baby
He repeatedly slapped two-month-old girl, who died from skull fractures
By Selina Lum
AFTER attacking his girlfriend at her workplace, a man went to the women's shelter where she was staying and asked for her two-month-old baby girl. Sarle Steepan Kolundu, 44, was registered as the infant's biological father - even though he was not - and he was allowed to take her out.
He was still seething when he took the baby, and he slapped and roughed her up until she was bleeding profusely from the mouth. They were just metres from the shelter, the Good Shepherd Centre.
A passer-by, seeing that the baby had turned blue and was motionless, alerted staff at the shelter, who called for an ambulance.
The infant, Esther Regina Sarle Steepan, died in hospital from skull fractures. Sarle Steepan, who went in the ambulance with her, was arrested at the hospital that night. He was initially charged with murder, which carries the death penalty, for killing the baby on June 1 last year.
But on Wednesday, on what would have been the start of a 13-day trial in the High Court, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
He faces life in prison or up to 20 years' jail and can also be caned or fined. Next Monday, the prosecution will argue its case for sentencing and the defence will plead for leniency.
The court heard that Sarle Steepan and Ms Siti Noor Fazlina Haron, 24, entered into a relationship soon after they met in August 2007. For a while, they lived together in a rented flat, but moved out shortly in February last year. Ms Siti was then pregnant with another man's child.
Esther Regina was born on March 27 last year. Sarle Steepan knew he was not the biological father, but falsely declared that he was while registering her birth in May. Later that month, he began suspecting that Ms Siti was cheating on him.
On the evening of June 1 last year, reeking of alcohol, he showed up at the shopping mall where she worked and created a scene. He berated her for not telling him that she was working, pushed her and repeatedly punched her on the head.
The police were called in and they advised him to leave. He then cycled to the shelter and lied that Ms Siti had given him permission to take the baby out.
After the baby was handed to him, he pushed her in a pram to the void deck of the block. After his arrest, Sarle Steepan admitted that he had repeatedly slapped the baby in anger. An autopsy report said the skull fractures showed that the blows to the baby's head were of 'considerable force' and were highly unlikely to have been caused accidentally.
