Police: 2 dead in apparent murder-suicide

LAPEER COUNTY, MI (WNEM) - A woman and her husband are dead in what police in Lapeer County are calling a domestic murder-suicide.
The incident occurred in the 200 block of Palmer Street in Imlay City Tuesday at about 6:30 p.m.
According to police, the man shot his wife and one of his children before taking his own life.
Two other children were home at the time of the shooting, but were not injured.
The 9-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to a local hospital. He's expected to fully recover.
That boy was the one who contacted 911 to notify authorities of the shooting, according to police. A short standoff occurred with the gunman when officers arrived at the scene.
Police are calling the little boy a hero for his bravery.
None of the names involved have been released.
Police say officers have previously been dispatched to the home for domestic-related issues.
