Columbus: Akron father wanted for baby death arrested
COLUMBUS -- The father police have been searching for all week in connection with the death of his 11-week-old baby, Avionna Helms, was arrested around 7:15 p.m. Friday night in Columbus, Ohio.
U.S. Marshals worked closely with Akron Police and Columbus Police to take arrest Watson.
Watson was found in the backseat of a car his father was driving near 3396 Greenwich. At first, the driver tried running down a U.S. Marshal. The marshal is ok.
Finally, they stopped the car and arrested Watson, who is currently at the Franklin County Jail.
U.S. Marshals will eventually bring him back to Akron on aggravated murder charges in connection with the death of 11-week-old Avionna Helms, who died May 4, from blunt force trauma to her head.
The death was called a homicide.
Back on April 26, officers responded to a call and found an unresponsive 2-month-old child.
Avionna was taken to the doctor's office with life-threatening head injuries but was then taken to Akron Children's Hospital where she later died of her injuries.
