A 4-month old girl from south Forsyth is in critical condition after suffering from what authorities said appears to be abusive head trauma.
Forsyth County Sheriff’s Investigator Jeff Robertson said staff from Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite contacted him Tuesday night about the child’s injuries.
The girl's father, 40-year-old Eric Robert Muller, was arrested and charged by the sheriff’s office with one count each of aggravated battery and cruelty to children.
He was released from the Forsyth County Detention Center on Friday after posting $55,000 bond, a jail spokeswoman said.
Robertson said both parents were questioned and the child’s mother, whose name has not been released, is not a suspect.
The case is the second in about a week involving suspected child abuse in south Forsyth.
On April 27, the sheriff’s office arrested Jeffery Andrew Silver, 36, and charged him with one count of aggravated battery.
He was released two days later after posting $49,720 bond.
Silver was arrested after staff at the same hospital contacted the sheriff’s office about his 3-week-old daughter.
Authorities have said she had injuries “consistent with child abuse” that were significant but not life threatening.
Silver’s 2-year-old daughter, who did not appear to have been abused, was taken into protective custody. His wife was not charged.
