WATE 6 On Your Side Staff Published: July 9, 2015, 3:15 pm KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knoxville Police Department said additional charges are likely after a man assaulted his girlfriend and then later disappeared with the the couple’s 3-week-old baby.
Bunmi Paul Adeoye, Jr., 27, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to go armed and domestic assault. Police said he had warrants on file for his arrest in Michigan and Illinois.
Police said Adeoye arrived in Knoxville with his girl at 12:24 p.m. Thursday. They said they arrived at the Greyhound bus station, located on Magnolia, to partially move-in with a relative.
Adeoye’s girlfriend told officers that he became agitated and assaulted her. She drove her boyfriend to the bus station so he could get a bus back to Ohio. According to her, he exited the vehicle with their 3-week-old baby and disappeared. Officers said they located Adeoye and the child at a loading dock of a business on Morgan Street near Depot. They said he was confused and never threatened to harm the child or officers. The child was returned, unharmed to his mother. When police took Adeoye into custody, they found a loaded gun in his pocket.
