DENVER - A father told investigators he was wrestling with his 14-month-old son and then said he bounced on his son's chest before the toddler died, according to a police statement of probable cause.
Jared Jimenez, 26, faces charges of first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death in the death of his son, Jared Jimenez Jr.
The elder Jimenez also faces charges of child abuse and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
The 14-month-old was taken to the emergency room of Lutheran Hospital on June 25 where he died.
When he arrived with his son, Jimenez told hospital workers the toddler had fallen out of his crib, according to the police document.
Later, while talking to Denver Police, Jimenez admitted he sat on his son and demonstrated how he used his entire body weight to bounce on his son's chest. He also admitted he had cocaine, crack and marijuana inside his home, according to the police document.
