EDMONTON - A legally blind Edmonton father of two was handed an 18-month conditional sentence Wednesday for stroking himself on a webcam he believed was being watched by a Vancouver girl.

As it turned out, James David MacIntyre was fondling himself in front of Vancouver city police.

The 36-year-old Zellers manager pleaded guilty last year to a single count of Internet luring. Charges of luring, sexual counselling and transmission of child pornography were withdrawn.

The charges stem from sexually explicit, online conversations MacIntrye believed he was having with a 13-year-old Vancouver girl in May 2007. He told her he wanted to visit her in Vancouver but never did. He later said the whole thing was a fantasy.
