AUBURN, Ind. (WANE) - Auburn police have arrested a man for child molesting after he admitted to performing sex acts with his daughter when she was three years old.
Richard Steckley Jr. is being held without bond at the DeKalb County Jail after being served on a warrant for Class A Felony Child Molesting on Wednesday.
In July, the daughter was removed from her home by DeKalb County authorities for an unrelated incident.
During the investigation, the daughter told a person interviewing her that her father had performed sex acts on her when she was younger.
According to police, an examination at the Fort Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center provided information to investigators that was consistent with her accounts of what had happened.
Police say Steckley admitted to the allegations when detectives interviewed him. They believe the molesting took place several years ago when the daughter was about three years old.

A Moreno Valley man was found guilty this morning of second-degree murder in the death of his 2-year-old-son.
Alex Baeza, 27, sobbed at the counsel table and had to be admonished by deputies as the verdict was read. His family members had to be escorted out of the courtroom while crying uncontrollably.
Isaac's mother Andrea Gallegos wiped away tears as she celebrated in the courtroom with her family. Isaac's grandfather shouted,"Yes, justice for Isaac."
Following the verdict, Baeza muttered to himself and wept as he was handcuffed and shackled.
"Murder? Murder?," he cried. "There's no way I killed my son. No way in God."
Baeza was convicted of two felonies, second-degree murder and assault on a child for the April 10, 2010 death of Isaac Gallegos. Isaac was not breathing and found with a brain hemorrhage when he arrived at the hospital, after spending the day in his father's care.
The jury deliberated for less than two hours before finding him guilty. Prosecutors said Isaac may have died from violent shaking or being slammed down. Medical experts said the injuries were consistent with a car accident.
Baeza's defense attorney argued that doctors did not know what caused the accident and the first doctor to examine him indicated there might be a previous injury.
During the trial, authorities laid out a history of abuse allegations by Isaac's mother. Photographs showed bruising, but a police report and Social Services investigation was inconclusive.
Two years ago, San Bernardino County Judge John M. Pacheco threatened to take custody away from the boy's mother, telling her she was overreacting and she would lose Isaac if she continued to make abuse allegations against Baeza.
Isaac's grandfather, Mike Leach, said he would file a formal complaint for Pacheco to be removed from the bench.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -- For the first time, the father who made national headlines when he kidnapped his son and took him sailing in the Gulf of Mexico is speaking about the ordeal.
Paul Martikainen disappeared with his son for days in December 2009 until the Coast Guard caught up with his sailboat. He did not have custody of his son and he pleaded guilty to federal kidnapping charges, but now he is in the Brevard County Jail, fighting local charges.
Martikainen told Local 6 reporter Erik von Ancken that he had to "rescue" his son for his own good, which he said he plans to tell a judge.
"For three weeks I had been stockpiling the boat with his favorite toys, his favorite foods," Martikainen said.
Martikainen said he planned to take his son, Luke, to remove him from the middle of a nasty custody battle, so, during a court ordered supervised visit with his son in Cocoa, he took his chance and slipped away with his son and head to the harbor where his boat was docked.
"The plan was to spend time with my son and that's it. I was happy with every day, every moment I got uninterrupted with him," Martikainen said.
The Coast Guard got a tip a few days after Martikainen sailed off and found the father and son in the Gulf.
Martikainen said he spotted the surveillance plane and knew it was over, so he cherished his final moments with his son and gave up peacefully. He said his son wanted to go with him and did not mind being away from his mother.
"He knew nothing but joy. Played games, ate his favorite foods. We just bonded the whole time," Martikainen said.
He said he knew what he was doing was legally wrong, but he was looking out for his son's well-being.
Martikainen said he saw the reunion video of his son with his ex-wife, Christa Finch, and he thinks she was pandering to the media.
Finch has accused Martikainen of abuse, and he accuses her of traumatizing their son.
Eventually, a judge will decide who is telling the truth and who will ultimately get custody of Luke.
Martikainen acknowledged it will be tough to get custody of his son with a federal kidnapping conviction on his record, but he now knows to fight the battle in court.
Martikainen said he was talked into pleading guilty to the federal charges, but he will fight the local charges of interfering with child custody and try to get out of jail. He will be in court on Sept. 28 to face those charges.
Finch said on Wednesday she still fears for her life and does not believe her ex-husband.

On Aug. 22, a teacher at Ebenezer Elementary school saw three knots on the top of her student's head. The boy, 8, said his father hit him in the head with his fist and a brush at their home, according to a Rock Hill police report.
The York County Department of Social Services was alerted, and a caseworker told police the boy and his brother both said their father "hits them all the time." The boy also said his father, a 36-year-old Rock Hill man, uses the ladder of his bunk bed to beat them with, the report states.
In a separate incident, a teacher at Belleview Elementary School became concerned when she saw a small burn on a 4-year-old boy's arm. The boy said he was burned with a cigarette by a 52-year-old Rock Hill man, according to a report. The report did not list the relationship between the child and the man, but noted his mother was not present at the time of the incident.
The boy was taken to Tricounty Pediatrics on Aug. 25, and the doctor stated it was likely a "non-accidental burn," the report states. DSS was notified and will conduct its own investigation.
Both cases are listed as still active and arrests have not been made.

Custodial dad, gal pal, third party accused of "borderline torture"; mom "nowhere in the picture" (Lawrenceburg, Tennessee)
It appears the custodial dad, NICHOLAS LEE DANIELS, his gal pal (who is accused of being the "ring leader"), and a third party (whose role is unclear) are charged with felony child abuse that is being called "borderline torture."
Notice that the media reports that "the real mother is nowhere in the picture" but says nothing more than that. I understand that it's possible that the mother was unfit or walked away on her own, but I'd like to see confirmation of that. Not just a hearsay insinuation. Whenever you see an abusive father like gain custody (from whom and how?), it's important to know the context. Do we even know the mother is alive? Did she disappear under "mysterious" circumstances? Was she denied visitation by a court? If so, why? Or did the father just manage to isolate the kids and shut off contact on his own? This is very common with abusers.

Three Arrested In Shocking Child Abuse Case

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. - A veteran police officer and investigator of child abuse says the case he's currently working isn't only evidence of abuse, it's borderline torture.
"It's enough to make a person cry," said Captain Don Laws with the Lawrenceburg Police Department. "It brought tears to my eyes."
The alleged 20-minute brawl between a 4-year-old boy and his 5-year-old sister was all caught on videotape.
Police said the video was a crucial piece of evidence the district attorney general's office won't release until after the criminal trial against the suspects, Tabitha Jane Sims, 25, of Hohenwald; Nicholas Lee Daniels, 23, of Hohenwald; and Marieta Evon Cody, 30, of Lawrenceburg.
Sims, Daniels and Cody are each charged with two counts of felony child abuse.
The alleged episode was videotaped by a teenage female family member who was also inside Cody's house last Saturday.
The young children's grandmother, Frances, told NewsChannel 5 reporter Brent Frazier that she long suspects the were being abused. Frances said it was Tabitha Sims, the girlfriend of the two kids' biological father, who was the ringleader in the torment on the children.
"I just saw Tabitha holding the little girl down, pulling her hair, and telling my little boy, 'This is the way you do it! This is the way you do it,'" Frances recalled from viewing the tape.
The two children were taken into the custody of the Department of Children's Services. Officials said their biological father was in jail, while their real mother was nowhere in the picture.
Frances said she had no regret about reporting the alleged abuse. She said she'd do it again, even if it meant causing a rift among her family.
Lawrenceburg Police said they video provided tangible evidence in the criminal case, and would be tough for the defendants to argue against.

RIVERSIDE - A Moreno Valley man's "selfish rage" caused the death of his 2-year-old son, whose injuries were equivalent to the kind suffered in a severe car wreck, a prosecutor said today.
"Blunt force trauma killed this little boy, and Mr. (Alejandro Alfonso) Baeza is the only one who could have inflicted the injuries," Riverside County Deputy District Attorney Burke Strunsky said in his closing statement in the defendant's trial.
Baeza, 27, could face 25 years to life in prison if convicted of murder and assault on a child resulting in great bodily injury in the April 2010 death of Isaac Gallegos.
Defense attorney Darryl Exum maintains Isaac's death was an accident.
"The child did fall while in my client's custody," he said. "But it's a stretch to call that abuse."
The youngster was with his father for a daylong custody visit when he suffered a head injury that resulted in hemorrhaging which precipitated his death, according to Strunsky.
"Isaac died at the hands of his father," the prosecutor told jurors. "Alex Baeza's selfish rage inflicted incredible harm on this 2-year-old boy. How could a father do that?"
Strunsky recounted the testimony of three medical experts who all came to the same conclusion: only abuse or the "force of an auto crash" could have caused the level of head trauma that claimed Isaac's life.
"This was a violent, merciless attack," he said, displaying photos of the child on life support at Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he lingered in a coma for three days before succumbing to his injuries.
Doctors concluded that violent shaking was most likely responsible for Isaac's condition, according to Strunsky.
He replayed videotaped interviews of Baeza explaining to sheriff's detectives how his son might have been hurt. The defendant offered three different scenarios, including one in which he walked out of the room and the tot tumbled off a bed, and another in which he accidentally dropped the boy while changing his diapers.
According to the prosecutor, Baeza was tired of paying child support. His ex-girlfriend, Andrea Gallegos, did everything in her means to protect their son, Strunsky said, documenting bruises that appeared following each custody visit with the defendant.
The Fontana woman took her concerns to a San Bernardino County family court judge, John Pacheco, requesting that he deny further unsupervised visits between Baeza and Isaac. But she was accused of making up the allegations in order to gain exclusive custody rights, according to the prosecution.
On April 10, 2010, Baeza called 911 and reported his son was in respiratory distress. The boy was rushed to a hospital, where doctors discovered he was bleeding cranially, to the point that his brain was "actually pushing out from his skull," Strunsky said.
According to the defendant's attorney, the injury that caused Isaac's death may not have been the one he suffered at his father's Moreno Valley house. He said the bruises the boy's mother documented could have been caused by any number of things.
