Dad GREGORY D. WILLIAMS apparently broke the arm of his 1-month-old infant son last July. But CPS fiddled and didn't arrest Daddy till just recently. Too late. Daddy had already "allegedly" killed the baby.

FORT WORTH -- Days after he was arrested on suspicion of fracturing his infant son's arm in July, a father now faces a capital murder charge in the 5-month-old boy's death last week, police said.
Gregory D. Williams, 36, who remained in the Mansfield Jail on Wednesday, now stands accused of inflicting the fatal traumatic head injury that claimed the life of his son, Demetrie Reeves.
Demetrie died at Cook Children's Medical Center on Nov. 29, hours after Williams called 911 to report that his son had stopped breathing after being given generic cough medicine.
An autopsy, however, determined that the boy was the victim of a homicide.
As detectives investigated, police obtained an arrest warrant accusing Williams of fracturing Demetrie's arm in July when the infant was 1 month old. Williams was arrested on that warrant Monday.
According to a police report and the arrest warrant affidavit in the July incident, Williams admitted picking up the child by the arm but said the injury was an accident.
Child Protective Services officials have said that Williams was prohibited from contact with Demetrie or his 2-year-old son after the July incident while the state agency worked with Williams and the boys' mother.
After Demetrie's death, the agency removed the 2-year-old from his home.
Sgt. Jim Thomson, supervisor of the crimes against children unit, said investigators obtained the capital murder warrant Tuesday night against Williams after receiving "additional information from the autopsy and medical reports."
Bail on the warrant was set at $500,000, Thomson said.
