Killler Dads and Custody Lists

Dad murders mom, injures 2-year-old daughter; media displaces reponsibility by calling it "a domestic situation spun out-of-control" (Irmo, South Carolina)

This is so typical. First of all, when a Daddy commits the crime, we don't blame Daddy directly. We blow smoke rings and deflect responsibility. So we end up with "a domestic situation spun out-of-control." Kind of like the tilt-a-wheel at the county fair, ya know. A crime--but with no criminal behind it. Neat! Even though Daddy also shot at the deputy sheriff!

Daddy DESHON WASHINGTON gets the kid glove treatment here DESPITE the fact that he's a career criminal with a long history of domestic violence, assault and battery, drugs, you name it.

Double standard much?

IRMO, SC (WIS) – A mother and father are dead and their 2-year-old daughter is recovering in the hospital after a domestic situation spun out-of-control Wednesday night in Irmo.

Richland County deputies responded to a shots fired call just after 9:00 p.m. at Freshly Mill Rd. and Pet Sites Rd. and when they arrived, they found a 25-year-old Joann B. Hill of West Columbia lying on the side of the road with multiple gunshot wounds.

While at the scene, deputies heard gunshots coming from a location about 100 yards away. Deputies drove in the direction of the shots and saw 36-year-old DeShon Washington standing at a his residence on Sid Eargle Rd. At that point, Sheriff Leon Lott said Washington fired shots toward one of the deputies.

Deputies were able to make contact with a person inside the home who told them that a 2-year-old inside had been shot. The deputies approached the trailer and found Washington sitting in a chair unresponsive with a pistol in his hand.

Hill and her daughter, Jodeaunna Washington, were taken to Palmetto Health Richland where the mother later died. The 2-year-old remains hospitalized. A family member says Jodeaunna is recovering.

A South Carolina Law Enforcement Division background check shows that DeShon Washington had been arrested numerous times since 1992. His prior charges include criminal domestic violence, assault and battery, possession of marijuana, driving under suspension and writing bad checks.

Lott said investigators are continuing to examine the evidence to determine the exact sequence of events.
