More media obfuscation. It doesn't sound like the girlfriend is the little girl's mother, or she would have been identified as such. So why was this little girl in the company of dad BRYAN LEE ESCALANTE and his charming gal pal? I suspect a custody/visitation situation, though of course the press is keeping mum on that--politically incorrect, don't you know. But remember that Victorville and the surrounding county have been subject to MANY custody/visitation abuse cases involving children. Here's one lesser known case:

This is also the home of the infamous Wyatt Garcia case, a baby that was murdered by his father during visitation. The mother made a valiant attempt to cut off the father's contact because of his threats, but Judge Lemkau--who has since lost his job--refused to examine her evidence. We have posted on this case numerous times here at Dastardly Dads.

Father, girlfriend charged for burning 3-year-old
Thursday, June 23, 2011
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (KABC) -- A father and his girlfriend in Victorville were arrested and charged with child cruelty after a 3-year-old girl was found with severe burns to her body.
The girl was taken to a local hospital on Saturday with third-degree immersion burns to nearly 30 percent of her body, authorities said. She was taken to a burn center in Northern California and underwent surgery on Monday.
Authorities determined that the girl's father, Bryan Lee Escalante, and his girlfriend, Vanessa Marie Poindexter, were responsible for the burns. They were arrested and booked at Central Detention Center on Saturday.
The District Attorney's Office filed one count of willful cruelty to a child on both suspects. Poindexter was also charged with one count of torture.
Escalante is being held on $100,000 bail, while Poindexter is being held on $500,000 bail.
