Dad charged with 1st-degree murder in death of 7-week-old baby (St. Petersburg, Florida)

Dad is identified as MICHAEL GUADALUPE.

Notice that this is another case where Mom had to work, while the abusive, deadbeat dad played at caregiver. And once again, a child dies because young males are easily frustrated and have no nurturing skills.

Father arrested in baby's death

10 News Staff, WTSP 7:09 p.m. EDT September 3, 2015

St. Petersburg, Florida -- The father of a 7-week-old baby was arrested Thursday following an investigation into his son's death on July 7.

Detectives first became involved in the case after the baby was taken to All Children's Hospital on June 29.

Police say on that day, the boy was left in the care of his father, Michael Guadalupe, while his mother went to work. The father claimed the infant had been fed and put in his crib after becoming fussy. The father then saw the infant was unresponsive and he called 911.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned the boy had extensive internal injuries which were inconsistent with the father's account of what happened.

The child underwent surgery and was taken off life support July 7.

The medical examiner's determined the baby's cause of death was blunt head trauma and were consistent with being shaken.

The manner of death has been ruled homicide. Detectives tried to interview Guadalupe again, but he refused to speak with them. The child's mother is not a suspect.

Guadalupe has been charged with 1st degree murder.

Dad charged with 2nd-degree murder in brutal beating death of 8-month-old daughter; blamed baby's 2-year-old sister (King County, Washington)

Notice that the mother was stuck working a night shift--even with two young children and a baby. Wonder if this batterer and abusive father even had a job.

So much more could be done to help women escape from situations like this--starting with locking up batters BEFORE they kill somebody.

Dad is identified as AHMED IBRAHIM.

A Washington man has been charged with second-degree murder for beating his infant daughter to death with an X-Box controller, police say.

Authorities say Ahmed Ibrahim, 26, of Burien, smashed his 8-month-old daughter's skull on Monday and then tried to convince police that his two-year-old daughter was the one who killed the infant.

King County sheriff's deputies responded to the home Monday morning after receiving a call from the child's mother saying her baby wasn't breathing, KOMO News reports.

Deputies arrived to find the 8-month-old visibly battered with trauma to her head and her face distorted. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy found the infant had multiple skull fractures and died from severe, blunt force trauma to her head and torso.

The medical examiner's office said it is 'highly unlikely' that a two-year-old caused such damage, according to The Seattle Times.

Seattle PI reports that Cecelia Gregson, senior deputy prosecutor, described the child's murder as 'brutal and sadistic' saying that Ibrahim 'viciously beat' the child.

The child's mother told authorities that she had left the infant and her two other children -- girls aged four and two -- in the care of her husband at 12.30am. She returned home from work at 10.30am and found Ibrahim lounging in a chair with the infant resting on his chest, Seattle PI reports.

She changed her clothes then went to pick up her baby only to find the child's face distorted and her body cold to the touch. She then rushed to a nearby relative's home for help.

After obtaining a search warrant, investigators arrested Ibrahim and described him as being 'on something' saying his speech was slurred and he repeatedly nodded off.

Ibrahim described the infant as an 'aggressive child' and blamed the deceased 8-month-old for picking a fight with his two-year-old daughter who, he said, caused the infant's injuries by kicking and hitting her, KOMO News reports.

Investigators believe that the infant died shortly after Ibrahim beat her with an X-Box controller. Ibrahim denied drinking alcohol to police, but bottles of liquor were found in the home, Seattle PI reports. Ibrahim also denied abusing his children.

However, the child's mother confessed that Ibrahim has a history of beating both her and their three children, KOMO reports. He reportedly beat the children with cords and hangers often, and even forcefully squeezes their lips shut when they cry.

Ibrahim was arrested Monday and charged Thursday with second-degree murder. He is being held at the Norm Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent with bail set at $1 million.

A young father who shook his baby daughter to death when she wouldn’t stop crying has been jailed for three years.

Kurt Delves, 23, was sentenced today at Birmingham Crown Court for the unlawful killing of two-month-old Harli Reid on December 17 2010.

The court heard how Delves, from Birmingham, West Midlands, had been Christmas shopping with Harli's mother Donnika Reid, 30, when he returned home alone with the child.

Delves became frustrated with his daughter when he bathed her before bed. When Harli would not stop crying Delves shook the child, causing her 'catastrophic' brain injuries.

The baby was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, but died the following day.

Devles originally tried to fabricate a cover story about Harli falling ill while in the bath.

He said the child flinched and became floppy after he splashed water in her face.

The man told police that he only shook the child lightly in an attempt to rouse her. But detectives were able to prove through expert analysis that the baby had been shaken with sufficient force to cause her fatal brain injuries.

Delves changed his plea to guilty to manslaughter on the second day of his trial.

Sentencing Delves, Mrs Justice Thirwall, said: 'Babies are vulnerable and defenceless, we all know that.

'They can often be noisy, they can often be demanding, but they are always vulnerable and defenceless.

'As you know, it is the duty of every parent to protect their tiny little baby. Harli was a very loved and very well looked after child.

'Her mother did most of the caring but it is true that you were keen to be involved and were involved, changing her nappies, giving her a bottle.

'I accept that you wanted to be a good father. But on December 17 2010 you didn’t protect Harli, on the contrary, you lost your temper and shook her repeatedly.

'For a short time, you shook her violently, it was clear this would cause her injury. As a result, she suffered brain damage from which she later died, she lost her life, a mother has lost a baby, and her grandparents, including your mother, have lost a grandchild.

'Her brother born to you and her mother in January 2012 will never know her.

'By your plea of guilty you accept you lost your temper and shook her in a way I have already described.

'I accept this was for a short time, but the injuries to her brain were catastrophic and there were injuries to her neck, which in any case with a nine-week-old child, was violent.'

Mrs Justice Thirwall sentenced Delves to three years and nine months in prison.

Defending, Tim Raggat said: 'This is a tragedy for all concerned from doctors reports, it shows that he is a very vulnerable man who will be very vulnerable in prison.'

Detective Constable Lyndsey Yates, who worked on the inquiry, said outside court: ‘Delves was said to be very hands-on with his baby and would often take the lead when bathing, feeding and changing nappies.

‘But, in what appears to have been a momentary loss of control, he snapped and shook his daughter in frustration at being unable to stop her crying.

‘He caused fatal injuries - injuries he then tried to cover up by inventing a story about how she’d fallen ill whilst in the bath.

‘We were able to expose those lies and Delves was eventually left with little option but to admit his actions.’
