Death of Douglas 2-month-old linked to child abuse

1:25 p.m. Saturday
The death of a 2-month-old is being investigated as a case involving child abuse, allegedly linked to the infant's father, Douglas County authorities said.
The infant was taken off life-support at 12:48 a.m. Saturday, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.
The suspect in the child abuse investigation is identified by the sheriff's office as Trent Getty, the infant's 23-year-old father.
Getty was found at a Greyhound bus station in Sacramento, authorities said Saturday. He was being held in the Sacramento County Jail, awaiting extradition to Nevada.
Law enforcement had been looking for Getty since Friday.
This past week, the infant had been brought by Getty to Carson Valley Medical Center, the sheriff's office said.
"...Investigators developed information that the infant had suffered substantial injuries which appear to be the result of traumatic abuse and are inconsistent with the initial statement given by the father regarding how the injury occurred," Sheriff's Sgt. Pat Brooks said in a statement Friday.
A warrant of arrest was issued for Getty with bail set at $1 million.
The sheriff's office had been called to Carson Valley Medical Center at 2:48 a.m. Wednesday.
The cause of the infant's death is not known. An autopsy is planned.
The investigation is continuing.
