Dad who murdered kids as part of his "custody battle" hangs himself in jail (France)
Good riddance to bad garbage.
Once again, we see one of the triumphs of the fathers rights movement.
Decency and common sense would tell you that a father with an extensive history of violence and alcoholism (including at least two assaults on the mother of his children) should NOT have contact with children.
But the fathers rights people have prevailed in all the courts these days, so we're supposed to indulge criminals and thugs and give in to their terrorist demands. Thus we see a piece of merde like JULIAN STEVENSON get his no-contact order lifted JUST ONE WEEK before the children's murders. And then, Daddy Dearest butchered them like hogs in a slaughterhouse on his FIRST UNSUPERVISED VISIT.
Stop giving these slime bags access to the kids. No access, no murders.

Child Killer Father Hangs Himself In Jail

A father who cut his children's throats after a custody battle with his French former wife has hanged himself in prison, according to legal officials in France.

A father who cut his children's throats after a custody battle with his French former wife has hanged himself in prison, according to legal officials in France.
Julian Stevenson was living in the French city of Lyon when he slit 10-year-old Matthew and five-year-old Carla’s throats with a kitchen knife in May.
The 47-year-old, who had a history of violence and alcoholism, had murdered his children in a fit of rage then fled the scene on rollerskates.
He was discovered moments later walking the suburban streets covered in blood.
Stevenson had been embroiled in a bitter custody battle with his assistant accountant former wife and had been banned from having contact with his children without a third person present.
However, this order was partially reversed in the weeks before the murder, and Stevenson was believed to be having his first visit alone with his children when he killed them.
In the hours before their deaths Stevenson, who was unemployed, was captured in a bakery with them buying sweets – they were each carrying a balloon.
But Stevenson’s former wife, Stephanie, whom he had badly beaten in 2005 and 2010, became anxious about the visit and arrived at his Lyon flat to find him in the stairwell of the four-storey block covered in blood.
Stevenson, who had been living in France for a decade, appeared briefly in court in May and was being held in prison where he was found hanged on Monday.
A source at the local public prosecutors' office told the news agency AFP: “He hanged himself on Monday in a sports hall reserved for inmates held in solitary confinement."

Dad convicted in murder of 8-week-old son (Coshocton, Ohio)
Dad is identified as COREY LAFFERTY. According to our past postings on this case, this was another one of those "caretaking" father-working mother situations.

Father convicted in murder of infant son
Lafferty to serve 15 years to life
Dec. 30, 2013
Corey Lafferty changed his plea to guilty on the charge of murdering his infant son, Raven, in September 2012. Lafferty was sentenced to 15 years to life.
Written by Staff report
COSHOCTON — A grieving family said a murder conviction in the death of an infant will help them to heal, but they’re still not sure whether that’s possible.
On Dec. 23, Corey Lafferty changed his plea to guilty on a charge of murder, an unclassified felony, regarding the death of his infant son, Raven.
Lafferty received the mandatory sentence of 15 years to life on the charge. If ever released on parole, he would owe a $25,000 fine as well.
Lafferty originally pleaded not guilty to murder and a second-degree felony of child endangerment in November 2012. Coshocton County Prosecutor Jason Given said the child endangerment charge was dropped as part of a plea deal. The prosecutor’s office also agreed to make no comments or recommendations when Lafferty would come up for parole.
However, that wouldn’t stop other individuals from doing so. Raven’s mother Rachel Santos, and grandmother Laura Meske have said they will attend every parole hearing Lafferty will ever have. Both made comments in Coshocton County Common Pleas Court before Lafferty’s sentencing by Judge Robert Batchelor.
Raven was 8 weeks old when he died Sept. 28, 2012, at Akron Children’s Hospital. The Summit County medical examiner ruled the infant’s death a homicide caused by multiple blunt injuries. Raven was reported by doctors to have had three broken ribs, a fractured skull and severe hemorrhaging in his brain.
Santos said she was with Lafferty for five years and they also have a 3-year-old daughter, Lilly.
Lafferty is being detained at the Coshocton County Justice Center until his transfer to prison.

Dad in "divorce mediation" douses 9-year-old son in kerosene and burns him to death in murder-suicide (Tokyo, Japan)
FRs will tell you how sorry they are for the poor oppressed daddy. They'll tell you the solution is more contact. In reality, the solution is NO CONTACT for nutcase pyromaniacs and killer daddies. No contact with the child=no opportunity to murder them.

Boy dies in likely murder-suicide
December 30, 2014
The Yomiuri Shimbun
A 9-year-old boy has died in what police believe was a murder-suicide in which his father set him on fire, according to the police.
The 49-year-old father came for his second son, who was practicing baseball on the grounds of Shiomi Elementary School in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, at about 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 23. He took his son to the side of a school building, where he poured what appeared to be kerosene on himself and set himself on fire.
The man died soon after, and his son suffered severe burns.
According to Komagome Police Station, it is highly likely that the man also poured the kerosene-like liquid on his son, judging from the nature of the boy’s injuries. The police will send the case to the public prosecutors office as a murder, even though the suspect has died.
The man was going through court-mediated divorce proceedings with his wife, and the boy was living apart from his father.

Single dad repeatedly rapes daughter, impregnates her three times (Nigeria)
Moronic dickhead father AUGUSTINE OBODEKE blames the rapes on his lack of a wife (Mom is deceased) and claims he didn't know that raping his own daughter was wrong.

Man impregnates daughter three times, says he did not know it is an abomination
By Wale Odunsi on December 29, 2013
The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, one Augustine Obodeke, for repeatedly sleeping with his 17-year-old daughter (Favour), impregnating her three times.
Sunday Sun reports that the bubble finally burst, when the daughter became pregnant the third time and was unwilling to go for abortion.
According to a police report, the girl had cried out to neighbours, who then presented the case to the Ugbowo Police Station in Benin City.
Acting on the recount, the police arrested Obodeke and has since detained him.
Narrating her ordeal, Favour said her father started having sexual intercourse with her after the death of her mother.
“He first impregnated me and we went for abortion. My father impregnated me the second time and I went for another abortion. He had arranged a doctor at Uselu who has been doing the abortion.
“My father impregnated me the third time and told me that we should go for another abortion but I ran out of the house. He then threatened to deal with me if I told anybody what has been happening between us.
“I have to cry out early in the morning which prompted our neighbours to intervene. Since my mother was late, anytime my father requested for sex, I felt I had no choice than to allow him have sex with me”, Favour explained.
In his own account, Obodeke accepted that he had been sleeping with his daughter and had impregnated her thrice.
He, however, attributed it to the death of his wife and his inability to remarry.
“It is true that I have been having sex with my own daughter. When she became pregnant the first time, I took her to one of my doctors at Uselu Quarters who terminated the pregnancy.
“I impregnated her the second time and I took her to the same doctor who terminated the pregnancy again. It was when I impregnated her the third time that she refused to follow me to the doctor for the abortion.
“I decided to be having sex with my daughter because my wife is late and I have not remarried. I decided to enjoy my own daughter by having sex with her.
“I want my daughter to forgive me because I have sinned against her. Nobody told me that what I was doing to my daughter was an abomination. I thought I was enjoying the sex with my daughter”, he said.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Foluso Adebanjo, said the man was arrested on November 22, 2013.
He further explained that the doctor who terminated the first pregnancies was still at large, assuring that the suspect would soon be charged to court.

Ipswich/Stowmarket: Courageous daughter reveals how sex abuser father ruined her life
Colin Adwent and Jane Hunt Monday, December 30, 2013 9:00 AM
Sexually abused as a child by her father Chloe Parker carried the burden alone for 10 years.
Now, kick-boxing champion Andrew Parker, 39, is beginning a two-year jail term after Chloe finally told her mother and grandmother what he had done to her.
Displaying courage and a maturity beyond her years Chloe, of Stowmarket, waived her right to anonymity, declining to hide her identity in order to speak openly about her father’s appalling betrayal of trust.
As terrible as the sexual abuse was, the 18-year-old said the torment and emotional blackmail that she was subjected to by Parker, of Pimpernel Road, Ipswich, was equally unbearable.
“He stole my childhood, my innocence and any hope of me ever living a normal life,” she said. “He made me feel dirty, afraid, alone, and isolated from everybody else. This left me with M.E and depression, leaving me feeling even more vulnerable than ever. What made the situation even more difficult was the fact he was so highly regarded in the community after working at Bosch Lawn and Garden for 13 years and a number of local funeral companies.
“He was also a well known kick-boxer, teaching and training in the sport as well as winning several fights and championships. It seemed impossible that anyone would believe me.
“He lied about what he did for a long time and convinced my family that I was the manipulative, nasty liar, which in reality, he was.
“However, at 17, after I found out about him committing years of adultery, I finally felt the strength to tell my grandmother, and then my mum, which he denied profusely in an attempt to blacken my name further.
“Despite this, after weeks of begging him to tell the truth and agreeing to keep what had happened within the family, he finally admitted to it. But even after confessing to the sexual abuse, he has still been able to convince some people that I’m the cruel child he tried to portray me as.
“He went as far to say that he would, ‘play dirty,’ and, ‘up his game,’– it was all just a big joke to him, and he belittled everything that I did.
“Therefore, I decided to go to the police in an attempt to try and get some justice for what my ‘dad’ had done. It’s been the worst year of our lives, and it felt like this torture would never end. But with my mum, brother and my mum’s side of the family’s support, we’ve been able to stick together and push through this.
“What has happened to me will stay with me and affect me for the rest of my life, but now he has been sentenced I finally have some justice for what he did to me. I hope that my story will encourage other children to come forward if they have suffered abuse by anyone.
“You may be frightened that you won’t be believed, and you may have some people against you, but the police will always believe you and support you, and you shouldn’t have to deal with what has happened to you on your own.
“I never thought in a million years I would tell anyone, and that ‘dad’ would be sentenced, but here I am, so if I can do it, so can you.”

Two-year-old son rescued from apartment building fire deliberately set by boy's father (Torrance, California)

Toddler rescued from fire intentionally set by father, police say
By Ari Bloomekatz 1:27 p.m. CST, December 26, 2013
A 2-year-old was rescued from a burning apartment building in Torrance early Thursday morning in a fire that authorities said was intentionally set by the toddler’s father.
Fire crews and officers responded to the fire in the 16700 block of Crenshaw Boulevard around 12:15 a.m. and saw that a portion of the four-unit apartment complex was “fully engulfed in flames,” according to Sgt. Robert Watt of the Torrance Police Department.
A woman who lived in the apartment where the fire was the worst was standing in front of the building when crews arrived and told them that her 2-year-old was still inside.
Firefighters and officers went into the building and recovered the child, who was treated for smoke inhalation and is now stable and listed in fair condition at a hospital, Watt said.
The three other units in the building were also evacuated and police learned that the man who allegedly set the fire is the ex-boyfriend of the woman and is the child’s father.
Watt said it was the result of “a domestic dispute that started verbally on Christmas Day.”
Police believe that after that fire was set. the arson suspect, identified by authorities as 19-year-old Asa James Dolak, went to the home of a relative in the 3200 block of Opal Avenue “and set that house on fire as well” around 2 a.m. and then fled.
“Arson investigators are at both locations and this is an arson investigation and we believe he intentionally tried to torch and burn down both locations,” Watt said.
Police continue to search for Dolak. He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is urged to call Torrance police at (310) 328-3456.
Police were able to have a phone conversation with Dolak after the arsons and he told them that he was unhappy with his family, unhappy with officers and “would seriously injure anyone that attempted to make contact with him,” Watt said.
He is wanted on two counts of arson and one count of attempted murder.

Dad kills 8-year-old daughter, 7-year-old son in murder-suicide during visitation (Brooksville, Florida)
Another dad gets pissed off for losing his control over Mom and the kids--so he slaughters the kids to show everybody that Daddy's Not Happy. Same old abuse/control syndrome.
Unfortunately, too many mental health professionals still refuse to get it, just like the one below. These men are not "mentally ill" or "depressed"--they are vicious narcissists. They don't just commit suicide. They murder their own kids.
Until you identify the problem correctly, you can't address it correctly. Stop giving abusers access to the kids! Period!

Father kills two children, then self, in Trillium home in October
By WENDY JOAN BIDDLECOMBE | Hernando Today Published: December 28, 2013
BROOKSVILLE - The Nodding Shade Drive home, with Halloween decorations in the front yard and an SUV in the driveway, looked like many others in the Trillium subdivision, just south of Brooksville.
But inside, deputies say, a man distraught about an impending divorce shot and killed his two children as they slept before turning the gun on himself.
On the evening of Oct. 27, Hernando County Sheriff's Office deputies found Daniel Castrillon, 39, dead from a single gunshot wound to his head in his daughter's bed at 975 Nodding Shade Drive. Next to him lay Susana Castrillon, 8, also dead from a gunshot wound to the head. Sabastian Castrillon 7, was found dead in his own bed with a single gunshot wound to the head.
The children were second- and third-grade students at Chocachatti Elementary School. Their mother, Luz Jimenez, was not injured.
An investigation found the parents had been separated for about two months, and Jimenez filed for divorce about two weeks before the murders and suicide.
An investigation found Castrillon and Jimenez had argued on the telephone about "relationship issues" the Friday before the killings. Castrillon showed up at Jimenez's home, made "suicidal statements" and threatened to flee with Susana and Sabastian to his native Colombia.
After Castrillon calmed down, Jimenez allowed her ex-husband to take the children for the night and made arrangements to pick them up on Saturday.
Jimenez called Castrillon numerous times on Saturday and did not speak with him.
On Sunday, Jimenez went to the Nodding Shade Drive house twice before calling the sheriff's office at about 7:30 p.m.
Deputies entered the house and found the bodies upstairs.
"It's very difficult anytime you have innocent children killed," Sheriff Al Nienhuis said at a news conference. "It's even worse when they're killed by someone who is supposed to be there to take care of them."
An investigation also found Castrillon left a suicide note in a bathroom, written in Spanish in crayon.
Law enforcement officials believe the shootings took place on Friday or Saturday night. Castrillon did not have any prior arrests, Nienhuis said. Property records show Castrillon bought the home in 2006.
"I feel for my deputies who had to deal with this (Sunday) night," Nienhuis said, adding it was the same squad who responded to a "similar" murder-suicide in Hernando Oaks in September.
Court records show Jimenez and Castrillon were married in September 2007. Documents indicate the marriage was "irretrievably broken."
Michael Morgan, who lives a few doors down from the Castrillon home, said Susana and Sabastian seemed like "perfectly normal kids."
Morgan said he would see them when he took his siblings to a nearby pool. "You'd think there was nothing wrong," Morgan said.
Kathleen Vogtle, a communication coordinator with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, said suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States.
Vogtle said alliance statistics indicate about 90 percent of those who commit suicide have a diagnosed mental illness.
"A lot of times, preventing suicides falls in with making sure someone who has a diagnosis gets treated," Vogtle said, adding the chances of suicide increase when a person goes through an isolating event, such as getting a divorce or becoming a widow.
A vigil was held at Choca- chatti Elementary School the Friday following the murders. About 200 of Susana and Sabastian's classmates, as well as parents and community members, attended the gathering to spend time together and share memories.
"As a community we pulled together," said Chocachatti Principal Lara Silva at the gathering. "And I'm incredibly proud of my staff and my teachers for ... handling such a difficult time."
Grief counselors were called to Chocachatti after the slayings to work with staff and students.

Dad convicted in 2008 killing of 7-month-old son gains custody of 1-year-old son (Red Springs, North Carolina)
WTF???
What the hell is going on here? Mom is the focus on an Amber Alert for kidnapping her own child, although we're not told why, other than it sounds like she has a dickhead for a boyfriend.
Meanwhile, the authorities give custody to the father, a CONVICTED BABY KILLER!!! You want to tell me that the mother is worse than this dude? A guy who has a track record for getting
"frustrated" with young infants and children and bashing them to death? Who the hell thought this was a good idea???
Just goes to show once again that discrimination against fathers is a MYTH. On the contrary, fathers are not held accountable for their own crimes at all. Probation for killing a baby? And then is given custody of another one? Makes me puke.

Amber Alert child reportedly with father Man guilty once of manslaughter
by Sarah Willets Staff writer 1 days 1 hours ago
RED SPRINGS — A 1-year-old boy who was the focus of an Amber Alert Friday morning following a domestic dispute has been released into the custody of his father, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in a case involving his infant son three years ago.
Nearly seven hours after an Amber Alert was issued, Jaylon Marcus Bullard was found unharmed with his mother, Candice Locklear, 21, and her boyfriend, Shamael Ellerber, 23, who had been suspected of taking the boy.
The three were found at an unclear location in Robeson County, according to Maj. Anthony Thompson, chief of detectives for the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
According to WRAL-TV in Raleigh, the child was then released into the custody of his father, Jamie Bullard, although Thompson did not confirm Bullard has the boy.
“I was crying all morning and just worried to death about him. I’m just glad he’s back with me,” Bullard told WRAL.
Bullard was charged in Moore County in 2008 with first-degree murder and intentional child abuse inflicting serious injury in a case involving a different son, who was 7 months old at the time. Those charges were reduced to felony child abuse and involuntary manslaughter when he was convicted in 2010. Bullard served time for those offenses and remains on probation.
Bullard told WRAL that Locklear and Ellerber frequently fought. He said Locklear had gone to a neighbor’s house after an early morning altercation on Friday to call her grandmother.
Locklear took the boy with her when she fled to the neighbor’s house. Ellerber chased them, forced them into a green 2001 Chevrolet Malibu and drove away, Thompson said. Locklear spoke out on her Facebook page, calling the ordeal “a big misunderstanding.”
“Nobody has kidnapped me or my lil’ man and thanks to the ones that cared,” she posted just after 2 p.m.
Currently, no charges have been filed in the incident.

Within seven minutes of picking up baby from sitter's, dad batters 2-month-old son into critical condition (Smithfield, North Carolina)
Another short-tempered, violent father who never should have been doing infant care. Too many so-called male "caretakers" lack the patience and nurturing necessary to provide for young infants and children. Dad is identified as JONATHAN MICHAEL JONES. Toddler's dad in critical condition after apparent murder-suicide attempt
Both survived a plunge into their backyard pool in Kailua

POSTED: 08:47 p.m. HST, Dec 26, 2013 LAST UPDATED: 08:58 p.m. HST, Dec 26, 2013
A 36-year-old Kailua man allegedly attempted to take his 2-year-old daughter's life and his own late Christmas afternoon by jumping into his backyard pool.
Police said the incident occurred between 5 and 5:15 p.m., leaving the man in critical condition. He is suspected of second-degree attempted murder and remained at an area hospital Thursday.
The girl also survived but her condition was unknown.
"The baby was OK," said Ernest Burlen, 79, a neighbor. "EMS took her to the hospital with the father. He wasn't looking too good."
Burlen said the father, Thomas Morton, had his daughter on weekends and holidays and seemed to be a good father and a good uncle to his twin brother's three children, who lived in the downstairs portion of their two-story house at 1288 Kina St.
At the time, Morton's brother and his wife had gone to the airport to drop off their children, who were going to catch a neighbor island flight to visit grandparents.
Another neighbor, who lives on the adjacent hillside, said she heard loud moans before the incident. "It sounded like someone in a lot of pain," said the woman, 59, who asked not to be named. "I couldn't see anybody.
It went on for some time. It sounded like this person was in agony."
She then saw the next-door couple scale the fence. The husband "fished the child out of the water and handed her to the wife," she said.
The husband jumped back into the water and tried to pull the man out of the deep end, she said.
But he struggled to bring Morton to the surface, so the hillside neighbor's husband, 58, ran down to help and managed to pull Morton out of the water. He remained unconscious.
Burlen said Morton was wearing denim trousers, and the child was fully dressed.
"I know he loved the baby," Burlen said. "Something must have set him off."

When Oklahoma City police arrived at the Will Rogers Court apartments off SW 15th St., they found that 12-year-old girl, her dog and all of her luggage sitting on the porch.
OKLAHOMA CITY - An Oklahoma City father is in jail, accused of throwing his young daughter out in the cold on Christmas day.
Oklahoma City Police found that girl wearing only a tank top and sweat pants - and the temperature outside was well below freezing. The police report states that girl is only 12 years old and was visiting her father from Texas. As it turns out she was the one who actually called 911 for help.
When Oklahoma City police arrived at the Will Rogers Court apartments off SW 15th St., they found that 12-year-old girl, her dog and all of her luggage sitting on the porch. All she was wearing was a spaghetti strapped tank top and sweat pants and small blanket her father had tossed out to her in the cold.
The report states the temperature at the time was 29 degrees and the ground was covered in ice.
"I think it's horrible," said Tiffany Aguirre.
Aguirre lives in the area where the girl was reportedly found. The young mother just wishes she would have known, and says she would have helped by taking the girl in.
"I just heard a lot of screaming on Christmas Day," said Aguirre.
"That's a major concern, that's a major concern," said Eric Biggers, who also lives in the area.
As a father, Biggers can't believe a parent would ever do something like that to their own child.
"No child, or even an animal, should be treated inhumanly or unjust," said Biggers.
In the end, police arrested 41-year-old Labaren Gerrad Bartholomew, after he initially slammed the door in the officer's face. The report states he tried to make excuses for throwing his daughter out in the cold. But these parents say, there's no excuse in the world that would justify his actions.
"Look after your kids, take care of your kids," said Biggers. "God blessed us with those children for a reason and not just a season."
Police did place the young girl in protective custody until her mother could show up for a show cause hearing. Her father is now facing one count of felony child endangerment. He is being held in the Oklahoma County jail on $10,000 bond.
Dad is identified as LABAREN GERRAD BARTHOLOMEW.

Custodial dad arrested after 4-year-old son found wandering the neigbhborhood without shoes or shirt in freezing cold--and dad found drunk and passed out at home; what happened to Mom? (Georgetown, Kentucky)
Dad ANTHONY MCDOWELL has been arrested and charged with wanton endangerment--and with drug trafficking, as it appears Daddy was selling Oxy from home.
So, why does it not even occur to the media to ask why this dumb @$$ incompetent and addicted father has custody of a young child? Why does his sister now have custody and not the mother? What happened to the mother? Why didn't she have custody? And why doesn't she have it now?
So much for discrimination against fathers....

Georgetown PD: Father didn’t notice child wander into cold

Brandy Hatfield holds her four-year-old nephew Colton McDowell close knowing she's lucky to still have him.
She says their worlds changed early Sunday morning when Colton left his home without shoes or a shirt in the freezing cold.
She says he went five houses down the block and asked the neighbors where his dad was.
Police say they found his father Anthony McDowell drunk and passed out inside the home.
"There's no telling what could have happened to him. I can't imagine. If he went to anyone else's house or someone picked him up I would've lost it," she said.
After McDowell was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment of his son, police also charged him with drug trafficking.
They say he sold the prescription drug oxycodone out of the home where he lived with his son on Parkside Drive.
Now Hatfield, his sister, has custody of Colton.
When we saw him he was fine - grinning ear to ear - but she says that doesn't justify what happened.
“It's sad but it's nobody's fault but my brothers,” said Hatfield.
She hopes losing his son will help her brother turn his life around for Colton's sake.
"It's not going to be easy but the main thing he's going to have to do is straighten his life up for this little boy," she said.
McDowell was arraigned on the drug charges Thursday.
He was also in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing for the wanton endangerment case.

Dad slaps and chokes 4-year-old son, assaults 14-year-old daughter during "dispute" with mother (Trinidad & Tobago)
For the millionth time, a "dispute" is when two or more persons disagree. It's an "assault" when one person (the father) is choking and generally beating up other people in the family. Are we clear on this yet? UNNAMED DAD.

POLICE arrested a 48-year-old Laventille man on Tuesday night after he allegedly slapped and choked his four-year-old son during a dispute with his wife.
The little boy “tried to break up the fight” by getting in between his parents in order to have them stop, police said.
It was while doing so that the man raised the child off the floor by his T-shirt and began slapping and choking him, police said.
According to police, the child’s 14-year-old sister, who was also at home at the time, intervened when the man started assaulting the boy, but she too was assaulted after she was violently grabbed by one of her arms.
Neighbours who heard the commotion contacted the police, with Task Force officers from the St Barbs Police Post arriving at the scene shortly after.
Officers said they believed the man was intoxicated at the time of the incident. He was later handed over to officers of the Belmont Police Station where he remained in custody up to last night.
Police said the man is expected to charged with two offences under the Children’s Act.

Remember how we are always being told that murder-suicides are rare? Bull.
The killer dad is identified as CARLOS DOMINGUEZ.
Right now, the media is mesmerized by the father in New York who killed his son by throwing him off a high-rise building during a "custody dispute." But he is far from the only father killing the kids.

Doesn't anybody else have any rights any more? Like to basic safety and security? Or is it All About Daddy All of the Time?

A man cut the mother of his child and her new husband with a knife at the Orange Park Mall about 4:20 p.m. Sunday, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Lt. Chuck Wolf said a woman and a man suffered injuries during a child exchange between a 28-year-old suspect, a 32-year-old woman and her 27-year-old husband. He said there was a verbal argument that became physical.
The woman’s husband had knife wounds to his face and torso, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The woman was cut on her arm, Wolf said.
The injuries sustained during the incident are not life-threatening, however, both were taken to Orange Park Medical Center, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The suspect, who was detained by Orange Park police officers, is in custody and charges are pending, Wolf said.
The toddler is with the mother at the hospital, according to the Sheriff’s Office said.

Sorry. Too many of these young sperm donors are too freaking volatile, violent, and unstable to take care of infants. They have zero capacity for empathy and zero patience. This is why we need decent paid maternity care and assholes like this need to get a job to support their family or get out.

Coshocton Father Pleads Guilty to Murder of Infant Son
Updated: Monday, December 23 2013, 09:56 PM EST
COSHOCTON (Ken Hines) -- A man will spend at least 15 years behind bars after pleading guilty to killing his 8-week-old son.
A Coshocton County judge sentenced Corey Lafferty to 15-years-to-life in prison on Monday after the defendant changed his plea to guilty in connection with the murder of his son, Raven, in September, 2012.
The two-month-old boy died days after he was hospitalized with multiple blunt injuries and swelling of the brain.
Lafferty initially claimed his son's injuries were caused by a fall from a swing. The baby's mother, Rachel Santos, was at work when her son was hurt.
"Corey, you took a big chunk of my heart out and stomped on it. This is something that [no] mother should have to go through," Santos said in court on Monday. "What I don't understand is, how can somebody be so heartless and selfish and take the life of a helpless child?"
Prosecutors agreed to drop a charge of child endangering in exchange for Lafferty's guilty plea on the murder count. Lafferty has also been ordered to pay $25,000 in fines and court costs.

Dad strangles mom till she collapses; punches and kills newborn son for crying--but gets only 2 1/2 years in prison (Tasmania)
So this useless dickwad started abusing the baby shortly after birth--punching him, suffocating him, jamming bottles in his mouth, holding him by the neck. He finally manages to kill the baby.
And we supposed to feel sorry for the same dickwad because of his "difficult childhood" and his "various handicaps to being a father"? Oh puleeze. More freaking daddy coddling at its finest. They guy will serve less than 3 years for what he did. Outrageous. And that's not even going into the assaults on the baby's mother.

Dad jailed for punching baby

Dec. 24, 2013, 1 a.m.
A FATHER who punched his newborn son to stop him crying was yesterday sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison.
North-West man Simon Adam Johnstone, 25, pleaded guilty to one charge of ill-treating a child and three charges of assault on his partner. The child later died in hospital of injuries, but authorities were unable to establish who inflicted the fatal injuries.
The ill-treatment began in late 2012 shortly after the child's birth, where the father punched the child to stop him crying, held the child around the neck, and also placed his hand over the child's nose and mouth until it could not breathe.
He also shoved the child's bottle down his throat in an attempt to silence him.
A community nurse found a seven centimetre bruise on the child, and Johnstone replied: "I punched him because he wouldn't shut up."
Johnstone strangled his partner while she was holding the baby until she collapsed and dropped him.
Yesterday in Hobart's Supreme Court, Chief Justice Alan Blow took into account Johnstone's difficult childhood, and his various handicaps to being a father. Johnstone's sentence will be backdated from March 2013.

He's currently in the Tulsa County Jail. He faces counts of cruelty to animals and domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor.

Oh right. Daddy also stole the mother's purse. And not the first time he's been convicted of domestic violence.
What a dickweed.

An Aurora man has been accused of endangering the life of his children, after allegedly making them flee a crime scene on foot, in the cold, with stolen drugs.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of James Hudgins III, 32, 900 block of North Avenue, stemming from a Dec. 17 incident which occurred in Aurora.
Police said Hudgins was involved in a domestic altercation with the mother of his children, and that fight turned physical.
During the scuffle, Hudgins allegedly stole a purse from the woman while pushing her and shoving her.
He was also accused of pushing his 2-year-old child into a counter while fighting with the child’s mother.
When Aurora police were called to the scene, Hudgins allegedly gave his 13-year-old son a bag of stolen drugs, and told him to flee the home.
The teenager and his 10-year-old brother were allegedly forced to walk around in below freezing temperatures and at night to escape police at the request of their father.
Hudgins has been charged with felony theft, felony domestic battery for having a prior domestic battery conviction, and three counts of misdemeanor causing circumstances that endanger the life of a child. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, according to court records.

Father tries to kill his own daughter in Heilongjiang
Xinhua 2013-12-25 15:51 (GMT+8)
A court in northeastern China's Heilongjiang province has sentenced a man to ten years in prison for attempting to kill his daughter.
Yin Zhihe inserted a needle into his two-month-old daughter's body on Aug. 4 this year, suspecting the girl was not his daughter, the court said on Monday. A DNA test has since confirmed Yin is the biological father of the girl.
The girl was taken to hospital the next day and had the needle removed from her body. Yet Yin inserted three more needles into the girl's body from Aug. 15 to 17. Though all the needles were retrieved during an operation on Aug. 23, they have caused multiple organ injuries and respiratory failure.
The court added that it dispensed leniency to Yin on consideration that he turned himself in to the police and that he didn't succeed in killing the child.

Dad kills 6-year-old son in murder-suicide during Christmas visit (Jefferson City, Missouri)
Contrary to fathers rights lies about all those mean, nasty "gatekeeping" mothers out there, many moms are just like this one. Trying to be helpful and accommodating, only to get burned by a sh**head of a father like this one. Sounds like this visit was not court-ordered, but just Mom trying to be nice. And now she's planning a funeral just after the holidays.

Man accused of child abuse appeals

A man accused of turning his garage into a den for child abuse appealed his charges today at the Supreme Court, in a case that will go on to frame the boundaries of child sex offending in New Zealand.
The father, who has name suppression, allegedly forced his 11-year-old son and his son's two friends, aged 11 and 12, to masturbate in front of him. The alleged offences took place in the man's garage where he stored computers, remote control models, a flight simulator and pornography.
Defence lawyer Chris Wilkinson-Smith condemned the man's behaviour as "repugnant", but argued that it was not illegal under New Zealand legislation.
Court documents state the accused would lock the garage doors and show his son and his son's friends pornographic movies. He provided the boys with lubricant, and encouraged them to masturbate, which they "eventually" did. Meanwhile, the man would stand back and watch them.
Wilkinson-Smith argued this was not a breach of the Crimes Act because the man did not touch the boys, or "indulge in any sexual activity" during the incidents.
At the man's trial in the Auckland District Court in January last year, his defence lawyers successfully argued the accused had not committed a crime, with the judge "reluctantly" dismissing the case after ruling the man did not carry out sexual acts "with" the boys. I
In a rare move, the Court of Appeal in October 2012 overturned the acquittal, finding the act criminal because the man had "actively encouraged" the boys to masturbate.
At today's appeal, Wilkinson-Smith said: "While most people would think [the accused's actions] should be criminal, by the state of the law as it's been interpreted, they aren't. The courts can raise the flag and say [the law] needs changing, but that cannot be done during this case."
He said the case was unusual in that it showed you could not charge a man based simply on his misbehaviour, unless those actions aligned with a breach of the law.
In response, the Crown said the law quite clearly targeted the exploitation of children, and "no extension of the law is required to criminalise this conduct".
"If you force someone to masturbate using threats of force you'll be guilty of indecent assault, but if you do the same thing to a child - not needing to use force because the child is respectful of the adult - and there is no criminality, that is quite absurd."
All names are suppressed in the case to avoid identifying the victims. The judges' decision is reserved.

Report: Dad jailed in toddler's death on Thanksgiving
Chron.com | December 5, 2013 | Updated: December 5, 2013 11:17pm
A Harris County father has been charged, and a week after his son's death on Thanksgiving, he is sitting behind bars, KHOU reported late Thursday.
The TV station says Tremaine Rachal has been charged with injury to a child, but that could be upgraded to murder. His bond is set at $50,000.
Officers tell KHOU that Kaden Perkins, 11 months, was visiting his father and three young half-sisters as the family and other guests celebrated the holiday at a home in the 2300 block of Union Mill Road near Veterans Memorial.
But 911 was later called and the child, who suffered a fractured skull and bruises, was dead when he arrived at the hospital, the report says.
Rachal reportedly told a judge that Kaden fell off the bed. However, that claim was questioned by a doctor who performed the autopsy, KHOU says.
Other relatives are being interviewed as possible witnesses, according to the station, and the three girls who lived in the house were placed with family members.

Lansing dad guilty in death of infant daughter

Gannett Michigan
A 38-year-old Lansing man was found guilty late Thursday of first-degree felony murder and first-degree child abuse in the death of his infant daughter.
John Harold Sanders will be sentenced to life in prison without parole. Under state law, that is the mandatory punishment for a first-degree murder conviction. Sentencing is set for Jan. 15, 2014 in Ingham County Circuit Court before Judge William Collette.
According to his own statements to police and others, Sanders was alone with his 3-month-old daughter Ja’Nayjah the morning of Jan. 4 when she suffered violent head injuries and stopped breathing. He never gave an explanation about how she suffered those injuries.
In closing arguments Thursday, Ingham County Assistant Prosecutor Mike Cheltenham said Sanders was tired that morning. He hadn’t been sleeping well. His relationship with Ja’Nayjah’s mother was strained. He was working only sporadically. He was undergoing treatment for long-term marijuana use, and crack cocaine was found in his apartment
“He was at a breaking point,” Cheltenham said.
All those factors taken together, Cheltenham told jurors, help explain why a father would inflict such violence upon his own child.
In his closing arguments, Sanders’ attorney, Joe Ernst, suggested that Ja’Nayjah’s injuries could have been accidental — caused by Sanders as he frantically tried to revive her — or caused by someone else.
Sanders was dating Ja’Nayjah’s mother, 20-year-old Shamarrie Kittle, although their relationship had become strained. They lived together for about a year but Kittle moved out shortly before Christmas 2012. The night of Jan. 3, Kittle brought Ja’Nayjah to Sanders’ apartment.
The following morning, Kittle took a bus to the county health department to fill her infant formula card.
Kittle was at the health department when Sanders sent her a text message, saying Ja’Nayjah had stopped breathing. Sanders called his uncle, who drove him to the hospital. Ja’Nayjah died about 13 hours later. Sanders told several people that he left the infant on a bed to prepare a bottle, and that when he returned she wasn’t breathing.
Ernst raised several possibilities, including that Sanders had, in fact, found Ja’Nayjah not breathing, and “in his best efforts” to revive her, “shook (her) too hard.”
Ernst also placed suspicion on Kittle, asking jurors to consider the possibility that Sanders “could be covering for someone.”
Cheltenham told jurors that all the evidence, including the Sanders’ own statements, show that he was the only person with Ja’Nayjah.
Sanders being responsible for her death, Cheltenham said, is “the (only) explanation that makes sense, based on the evidence…and common sense.”

Nagoya father arrested after second twin baby dies; violence suspected
Dec 6, 2013
NAGOYA – A man from Toyohashi, Aichi Prefecture, was arrested Friday for allegedly inflicting bodily injury resulting in the death of the youngest of his three daughters in July 2012, police said.
Kazuya Suzuki, 33, a company worker from the Nishi Miyuki-cho district, was arrested on suspicion of harming the 7-month-old girl at their home. The victim, named Mirea, was the youngest of twins.
The police allege Suzuki hurt the girl by either vigorously shaking her or slamming her into something, which resulted in several head injuries, including acute subdural hematoma, considered the deadliest of head injuries. The child, who was taken to a hospital after the incident, died the next month.
Suzuki has denied battering or shaking the girl.
The girl’s twin sister, meanwhile, died in July this year, the police said. They are investigating the case based on allegations that she also was subjected to physical abuse.
The police believe both twins died from “shaken baby syndrome” that also resulted in severe brain injury.
Shaken baby syndrome is a form of child abuse caused by forcefully and violently shaking a child’s body. Because an infant’s brain is not fully developed and the violent movement pitches the brain back and forth within the skull, it can destroy brain cells and in extreme cases result in death.
Suzuki’s twins were hospitalized in February 2012 after their health condition had worsened due to cold. The older twin was diagnosed with brain damage during hospitalization in 2012 and was pronounced dead this July after being transferred to a hospital in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture. Police speculate that Suzuki might have abused the older twin during her stay in the hospital.
The younger of the two, meanwhile, was released from the hospital after treatment, but she was then taken to a hospital in Toyohashi a second time in July 2012.

Father Charged With Abusing Child In Columbia County

CATAWISSA — A father in Columbia County faces several charges after police say he abused his 2-month-old son.
When the child was taken to a hospital in October, investigators say he was covered in bruises and had some fractured bones.
Matthew Sacks, 25, of Locust Township told investigators he did not abuse his son but there may have been a few instances when he was too rough with the infant by accident.
Sacks turned himself in Friday morning and was arraigned in district court in Catawissa.
“I have nothing to say right now,” Sacks said outside district court.
He faces a list of charges including aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Police say Sacks abused his infant son in October.
According to court papers, the baby was taken to the hospital because he was not eating. Doctors found multiple broken bones and bruises on the baby boy. Police say this is not the first time Sacks is accused of abusing one of his children. In 2008, Sacks admitted to abusing his 4-month-old daughter. Sacks was forced to attend parenting and anger management classes.
He was unable to post bail and was taken to the Columbia County jail. Sacks is scheduled to appear in court later this month.

Custodial dad, step get prison sentence for torturous abuse of 12-year-old son over 3 months; what happened to this boy's mother? (Wilmington, Delaware)
Another story we almost missed this month.
Mom must have had all contact eliminated for this to go on for three long months.
Yet there is no explanation as to why. Was she deceased? "Missing"? Did she lose custody through the courts? If so how and through what judge?
Whenever you see an custodial dad who is this evil, vicious, and controlling, one should always ask why the mother has seemingly "disappeared" from the picture. What ever he doled out to this child he very likely doled out to the mother. So what happened? Silence, as usual.
Dad is identified as ROBERT HOHN.
Why the headline writer considers 6 years a "lengthy" prison sentence I have no idea.

Wilmington – Attorney General Beau Biden today announced that Robert Hohn and Shannon Watterson, a Newark couple, have received multi-year prison sentences for abusing and neglecting one of their children, a 12 year-old son, over a three-month period last fall.
“The lengthy sentences we sought and that were imposed upon these defendants today reflect the significant harm caused by child abuse and neglect and they send a clear message to child abusers that you will face significant consequences for your crimes,” Biden said today.
Hohn, then age 42, and Watterson, then age 40, of the 100 block of Brookside Boulevard in Newark, were arrested on November 28, 2012 by New Castle County Police and charged with child abuse after a police investigation revealed that their son had been physically abused and become malnourished after they locked him in his bedroom for a three-month period, causing serious physical injury by failing to feed him regularly, neglecting to provide medical care, and failing to enroll the child in an adequate educational curriculum. In addition, both were charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child for committing child abuse and/or assault against the child in the presence of three other children who were living in the home. The police investigation was initiated after the victim escaped from his home and responded to the residence of a neighbor, who contacted police.
This morning, New Castle County Superior Court Judge M. Jane Brady sentenced Shannon Watterson to five years and one month in prison and sentenced Robert Hohn, IV to six years and one month in prison. In addition, Judge Brady ordered both defendants, while incarcerated, to spend 10 days in solitary confinement each year beginning on November 28, the date of their arrest. She also ordered the pair to have no contact with the son who was the victim of their abuse and ordered them to have no contact with the three other children who lived in the household at the time of their arrest unless approved by Family Court.
Hohn and Watterson were indicted on multiple charges in March, 2013 and both pled guilty to one count of Assault 2nd Degree and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in September, 2013. Both defendants have been incarcerated in lieu of $282,500 cash bail since their arrest. Biden reported that his office has closely monitored the welfare of the abused son who, now at 13 years-old, is happy and well cared for. “The vast majority of abused children are victimized by parents or others who have responsibility for their care,” Biden added. “It’s not a child’s responsibility to protect him- or herself, it’s ours and I urge all adults who suspect that a child is being abused or neglected to fulfill their legal and moral duty by contacting the Delaware Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-292-9582.”

Custodial dad arrested for capital murder in death of 2-year-old daughter; had gained custody a little over 1 month before daughter trauma death (Waveland, Louisiana)
Almost missed this story in the month's festivities and general busyness. Dad OREN LEWIS had gained custody "a little more than a month" before this girl's murder (not "tragedy", which is a literary term). Oh no, this wasn't some tragedy handed down from the Gods on High.
Nope, some nitwit judge thought it was a dandy idea to give a father who had never been married to the child's mother custody of a toddler. And then the piece of sh** shows his true colors by bashing her head in. Just another control freak abuser dad, despite all the crap below on what a great dad he was, blah blah.
She fell out of bed? My @$$. Sounds like a lying SOB too.
Who was the judge who gave this idiot custody of a girl who was scarcely older than a baby?

A Waveland man is in jail charged with capital murder in the death of his daughter. The arrest of 31-year-old Oren Lewis comes four months after the little girl died from massive head trauma.
Authorities say they have been working hard to uncover just what happened to 23-month-old Maleah Bush on the night of August 25th.
Oren Lewis surrendered quietly at his home Monday morning, four months after his daughter died in his care.
"This is a very serious allegation to make against anybody," said Waveland Police Chief David Allen. "We wanted to look at the totality of the evidence, talk to the experts, get their reports, look at the scene, interviews, and do a slow thorough methodical investigation before we charged him. So we would be sure of what we feel happened."
Police said Lewis told them he was home alone with his four children on the night of August 25, 2013, when Maleah feel from her bed causing the injuries that led to her death.
"We don't believe that's what happened. We don't believe it could have happened that way," said the chief.
Family members said Lewis was awarded custody of the little girl a little more than a month before the tragedy.
"Whenever the kids did something kind of bad, Oren wasn't the type of father to spank them. He would make them go into timeout," said Oren's aunt, Trellis Spencer.
His mother said her son loves children, and has been teaching special needs children in several coast school districts for years.
"You have to have a heart, you have to have patience, love kids and compassion and that was him," said Sharon Lewis.
But Rita Bush said, "The man that I thought I knew, I didn't know."
Rita Bush is Maleah's mother. She and Lewis were not married, and custody of the child ended up in court. Bush said she's been waiting all these months for answers.
"The evidence tells a story. It tells the entire story of what exactly happened to my baby. And I gave him the benefit of the doubt in the beginning. And then once I spoke to the doctors at Children's [Hospital in New Orleans] and all of the medical professionals, the evidence just proves otherwise. It's a sad story. No one could imagine a man killing his own child. But it's true and it's something I have to deal with and he has to deal with," said Bush.
Oren Lewis is being held in the Hancock County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Dad gets 30 years for subjecting wife, 5 kids to ten years of "horrific abuse" (Sheboygan, Wisconsin)
Really, this was nothing short of torture of the worst kind. Yet the authorities are often afraid to label it as such when the torturer is the father or partner of the victims.
This waste of so-called human being is identified as LAO JIN.
The truly scary part? This sh**head also has a "mental health counseling background." Wonder how many other people he as f***ed up over the years.

Sheboygan father's abuse brings prison term
40-year-old gets 30 years for 'environment of fear'

SHEBOYGAN — A judge on Friday sentenced 40-year-old Lao Jin to 30 years in prison for subjecting his wife and five children to more than a decade of horrific abuse and mental torment.
In issuing the sentence, Judge Timothy Van Akkeren said the case was unlike anything he’d seen in 24 years on the bench, pointing to the depraved ways in which Jin used his mental health counseling background to terrorize his family.
Van Akkeren said that Jin’s long list of offenses — which included locking one child in a wooden box, driving skewers under another child’s fingernails, dumping a bucket of urine on one child’s head and regularly threatening to kill them — called for “very strong response” from the court that gives his family time to recover.
“The defendant has taken so much from the lives of so many,” Van Akkeren said. “He’s sentenced them to a life of having to live with what he’s put them through, and it’s something that will be extremely difficult for them to overcome.”
Jin’s prison sentence was 10 years longer than what the state recommended. It will be followed by 28 years of extended supervision, which would place him under the watch of the state corrections system until he’s in his mid-90s.
The 2½-hour sentencing hearing was held before a courtroom packed with more than 50 of the victims’ friends and family.
Assistant District Attorney Joel Urmanski recounted abuse that began when Jin’s children weren’t yet school age and how the worst of it happened while his wife was away.
One child had a dog shock collar placed around his neck and was later hung by a nail in the basement with his arms tied above his head.
The kids were also regularly beaten with a bamboo rod, choked and punched and kicked.
Urmanski said Jin once sprayed a high pressure hose into his son’s mouth. On another occasion, he cut his son’s hands with a knife.
The abuse would come with little warning or provocation, and occurred almost daily, Urmanski said.
Meanwhile, the abuse often went a step further, Urmanski said, as Jin would play with his kid’s minds, insulting them, writing derogatory words on their faces with a marker and then pitting them against one another.

Dad gets 20 years for attempted murder; set two sons on fire after marital separation (Australia)
Yet another control-freak daddy who just couldn't stand losing power over Mom. Just so angry, don't you know. So he attempted to murder their sons by burning them to death. They survived--but with significant injuries.
Why little sh**s like PAUL BRIAN EDWARD CONNELLY should NOT be granted access to the kids after a divorce or separation.

Hope prevails after horror attack

Jackie Quist Today Tonight
Just over a year ago Fletcher and Spencer suffered horrific burns after being set on fire by their own father – innocent victims of an unspeakable revenge attack. Yet these special little boys won't be beaten.
Today, Paul Brian Edward Connelly was jailed for 20 years, to serve a minimum of 15, guilty on two counts of attempted murder.
But mum Alison Lander will not be beaten. Her loving bond with nine-year-old Fletcher and five-year-old Spencer is obvious – and it is no wonder given what they have endured the past year.
Fletcher has burns to 23 per cent of his body; Spencer had burns to 37 per cent of his body, including full thickness burns to his shoulders and neck.
These two very special boys survived an horrific attack inflicted on them by their own father.
Spencer and Fletcher are the innocent victims of Paul Brian Connelly, a man who refused to accept his marriage to Alison was over and, on December 6 of last year, tried to murder his own sons.
“I have to see this every day,” said Alison. “Their scars might be on the outside but mine are on the inside.
“This is a man I was married to for 13 years. The father of my children. I thought he loved his children and I trusted him to have those boys and he betrayed that trust.
“They worshipped the ground their father walked on. They often told their dad that they loved him and he would reciprocate, say he loved them too.”
Forensic psychologist Ian Joblin has assessed over a dozen dads who have harmed or killed their own children over his 36 years in practise.
“They do seem like everyday dads,” he said.
“They will present ordinarily as if there's nothing wrong but when the high emotion involved with separation typically happens, then they will flip into this other persona.
“I don't think there is a name for it but it certainly and unfortunately seems to be a developing trend in serious crime.
“The children are used as instruments of revenge and that means that the father often does not take on any remorse, to the mother of the children it’s like ‘look what you made me do’, as if its your fault, not my fault. He is offloading his guilt from himself onto her.”
Alison had tried to save the marriage, been to counselling. From her point of view it was irreparable.
It was just three weeks before Christmas when Alison set off in search of a new home for her and the boys.
What Alison did not know was the soon-to-be ex-husband she had left behind had already hatched a plot so evil and so twisted it almost defies comprehension.
“It is not easy to think about it and I don’t like to think about it quite honestly. I struggle to talk about it,” Alison bravely admits.
“I know on the Wednesday he picked both children up from school and daycare and went home.
“He had been to the supermarket and bought lots of what we label as junk-food lollies and had those in the car. He got their favourite toys and gave them to them in the car.
“Both children were still in the car and he set the car on fire.”
It was a miracle they survived.
“Fletcher tells me the story of getting himself out of the care,” says Alison.
“When I first saw him in the hospital in emergency he tells me he dropped and rolled and that was thanks to the fire brigade visiting the school a week before.
“The boys spent months recovering in hospital. Spencer had a month in intensive care and 15 operations and will require further surgeries.
He has burns to his knees, hands, arms, neck, shoulders, face and head. The tips of his fingers on his left hand had to be amputated to the first knuckle.
Spencer, though, has not lost his sense of fun.
His older brother, Fletcher, though, understands exactly what happened that fateful day and knows why his looks are affected.
“He has struggled with it. He is very self-conscious about it and wears a hat in public all the time because he has a bald spot,” adds Alison. Fletcher and Spencer are on the long road to recovery.
Family friend Mark Whittle is heading a community effort to support the family going ahead.
He said: “Well I know there are a lot of very worthy causes but I think this one is very worthy and certainly has touched the hearts of people, knowing the boys were so young.
“The boys are going to need support through the ensuing years right through teenage years to adulthood and so it would be great if we can still have money being raised and donated .”
While the community rallied, Paul Connelly inflicted further pain from behind bars when he pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, claiming the explosion was an accident, and stood trial.
After a week-long court case the jury took just one hour to find Connelly guilty and today he was sentenced to 20 years jail with a 15 year minimum.
“His not guilty plea meant that a nine-year-old had to testify against his father,” says Alison.
“I hated it, absolutely hated it that a child should have to go to court. Who would put a child through that? “I don’t think any sentence is long enough.
“He has inflicted a life sentence on them. They’re going to grow up and look in the mirror every day and see what he’s done.
“The good thing is he’s got them too. He got burnt too. I hope there are mirrors in that prison so he can see the scars on him.
“He was angry, he was angry at me. It had nothing to do with those boys.”
Today, at an ordinary house on an ordinary suburban street, there is no evidence of the horror that occurred.
Alison and her boys have moved on, justice has been served and their future is looking bright.
“I've learnt that there are a lot of beautiful and lovely people out there.”

PHOENIX (AP) - A Glendale man accused of child abuse for allegedly trying to throw his 8-year-old son out a window has pleaded not guilty in the case.
Maricopa County prosecutors say Brenden Fairbanks entered his plea Monday. His next court date is on Feb. 6.
Fairbanks was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of endangerment, resisting arrest and aggravated assault on an officer.
The charges stem from an emergency call officers received on Dec. 5.
When officers arrived, Fairbanks was seen inside an apartment with his son. Officers say he grabbed the child and lunged toward a bedroom window, causing it to break.
Officers used a stun gun on Fairbanks because he continued to resist arrest. At one point, he's accused of jabbing a pen into the side of one officer's vest.

Custodial dad, step arrested for assaulting 6-year-old son; boy reunited with mom at hopsital (Jakarta, Indonesia)
Once again, we have a control-freak dad who was intent on full possession of the child--only to severely abuse him. Poor Mom hadn't seen the boy in five years, but she still faces a big fight getting custody.
Fathers rights in action, folks. Whether it's in New York City or Jakarta, too many of these batterers and criminals are getting their hands on the kids, only to kill them or nearly kill them.
Dad is identified as SURYA ATMAJA GINTING.

Arrests Follow Abuse of 6-Year-Old
By Jakarta Globe on 7:15 am December 24, 2013.
A 6-year-old boy, found gravely injured at an oil plantation in Riau after being abused by his own father and stepmother, was reunited with his mother on Monday.
Devi Andriani, the birth mother of Raditya Atmaja Ginting, or “Adit,” burst into tears when she saw her son laying on a hospital bed in the Bangkinang general hospital in Riau.
Devi who lives in Medan, North Sumatra, separated from her son and his father, Surya Atmaja Ginting five years ago .
She claims her ex-husband took Adit away without her consent after he divorced her.
But Arist Merdeka Sirait, chairman of the National Commission for Child Protection (Komnas Anak) suggested the mother waits until Adit fully recovered before taking him home.
“We appreciate the mother’s intention to take the boy home but we believe there should be an assessment to determine if she is fit to be a parent, or whether she has the same tendency towards child abuse,” he said on Monday.
Arist said Adit’s physical condition has been improving gradually but the boy had been severely traumatized by what had happened to him. Arist added that Komnas Anak has been urging the police to solve the case.
Adit was found by a vegetable seller at a Riau plantation on Dec.15.
Local residents rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors discovered that the boy had been assaulted with sharp and blunt objects. Adit allegedly told medical staff that his stepmother abandoned him after his ordeal.
Both his father and stepmother Ervina were subsequently arrested and named suspects in a case of child abuse.
Ervina claimed she started beating her stepson because he was a naughty child who often refused to listen to her. She faces 10 years in prison for allegedly violating the 2004 law on domestic abuse, while Surya might face a third of the maximum possible sentence for being an accomplice.
Komnas Anak reported 2,637 instances of domestic abuse against children in 2012. Pitoyo Susanto, a child protection specialist with the Christian humanitarian group World Vision, said child abuse is severely under-reported nationwide due to the popular view that abuse is best resolved within the family.
In local media, abuse victims, their families and supporters have reported threats and intimidation from perpetrators’ friends and family during court trials.
Domestic abuse can be reported at district police units for women and children. Abuse can also be reported at hospitals or centers run by the non-profit organization, the Child Protection Institute.
However, World Vision’s Susanto says many families live far from reporting centers and health providers capable of offering good life-saving medical and psychological care.
