Trial STILL delayed for father charged with beating death of 7-year-old son during summer visitation (Worcester, Massachusetts)

Unbelievable. We first reported on this case four years ago, and dad LESLIE SCHULER still hasn't gone to trial for the beating death of his 7-month-old son, the one he fought to get summer visitation with.

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — The trial of a Massachusetts man charged with fatally beating his 7-year-old son on Father's Day four years ago has been postponed because an expert defense witness is unavailable.

The murder trial of Leslie Schuler was scheduled to start next month in Worcester Superior Court, but a judge Wednesday changed it to Nov. 14.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that defense attorney Alan Black told the judge a neuropathologist "crucial to the case" was unavailable from mid-July until Aug. 15 because of unchangeable vacation plans.

Authorities say the 40-year-old Schuler beat Nathaniel Turner on June 21, 2009, Father's Day. He died two days later.

Schuler has pleaded not guilty.

Authorities say the boy lived with his grandmother in Eufaula, Ala., but came to Massachusetts to spend the summer with his father.
