Baltimore City Police are charging a 21-year-old man with the beating death of his infant son.
Police Detective Jeremy Silbert told WBAL News that officers arrested Damond Stansbury late Tuesday night, charging him with first degree and second degree murder, as well as six other charges in connection with the death of his son, two-year-old Marlo McFadden.
Police say the little boy was beaten early Monday at his grandmother's house in the 1600-block of Mountmour Court.
His grandmother couldn't revive the little boy, and he was taken to Hopkins Children's Hospital, where a social worker called police.
The little boy later died of his injuries.
According to charging doccuments, the boy's grandmother, as well as two other people at the home, told police Stansburry wasn't home at the time of the incident, but one of the people later admitted he was there but had left.
Police interviewed two other children who were in the home. The charging documents showed those children told them that Stansburry hit Marlo a lot and that he had hit the boy in the head and body before he was taken to the hospital.
The boy's grandmother later admitted to detectives that Stansburry was always mean to the child and had shoved him. Charging documents show the victim's mother, Cara Schaffer, told police Stansburry had abused her son at least 10 times in the past by punching him in the body.
